This is our third visit to Cornwall & our third visit in a year to smugglers fish & chip shop, by far the best fish and chip shop we have ever been to! Fantastic service! Fantastic food! It’s worth the 5.5 hour drive just to feel the satisfaction of these fish and chips! Thank you! We will be back again before we head home
We found this fish and chip shop last year and there was Monk Fish & chips on the menu, which was amazing. We visited again this year and although Monk Fish was not on the menu, they said they would try for the end of our holiday. They kept their promise as it was on the menu today and just as amazing. Well worth a visit
This is the best chippie in the country by far. Big claim, but as a massive connoisseur of fish and chips, I have tried enough to know what I'm on about! If you are in Lizard and hungry don't hesitate, treat yourself. If an extra special treat is needed - won the lottery or something, then Smugglers version of surf 'n turf is a must.
In my opinion, the best Cod, chips and curry sauce I have EVER had. There were some locally caught fish options too on both visits. They were just Soooooooooo yummy. I certainly recommend a trip down to The Lizard for your Fish & Chips from Smugglers.
Mackerel and chips I had was stunning, my husband had cod and chips which he thought was the best he'd ever eaten. Would certainly recommend and we will try again when we are next on holidays
Popped in on Thursday 24th and had hake; the best fish I've ever had from a chippy! Still as fab as it was 10 years ago :D
Visited on Monday. Perfect. Probably the best fish and chips I've had. Really tasty.
Lovely Mini fish and. Chips, couldn’t fault it, service was great too,
Best chippy I have ever been to in the whole of my life and I been to a lot of them in the whole country
Where else in this country would you find a Monkfish burger, made with a natural fresh griddled fillet? Delicious!
How can this superb chippy only get 4.9 stars? This is a travesty. I give it 5.1 but can't seem to be able to input this to the system!
First visit of the season tonight....can't wait.
This is what I wanted as my birthday treat and I was not disappointed. Service is fast and the fish was wonderful as usual.
Top class fish & chips. Consistently good year on year! Never had a bad meal. can't recommend enough.
Best fish and chips in Cornwall! We travel from St Ives to get our dose of smugglers - sunny Saturdays and we're there! Delicious fresh fish with a light crispy batter and lovely chips too. We cant fault you :-)
Excellent fish and chips. Very well run and cooked to perfection.
So lucky to have this chippy on our doorstep. The fish is amazing!
What can I say,,, outstanding,, fish and chips to die for ... Especially the monk fish ... See you all next year ...
Best I've had in ages. Fresh fish, 'proper' fish & chips
Excellent fish & chips (and other things) - they pride themselves on using locally produced meats and potatoes, and on locally caught fish wherever possible.
This is one of our regular stops when we visit The Lizard Peninsula.
One day I might even manage to try their seasonal Lizard Burgers (local beef)
Always love the fish and chips from Smugglers but tonight they surpassed themselves, chips were especially golden and fluffy, delicious.
Can honestly say that the best fish and chips EVER have been from Smugglers at Lizard.
And that's just for the chips....!!!
Best fish and chips I have had in long time . We listened to advice from locals to have the hake as it’s very local.
Delicious!!
The young chap in the counter really looked like he enjoyed his job and was very polite and smiley .
Busy with a little wait, obviously cooked fresh and piping hot
Thoroughly recommend
We got served by very friendly young gentleman, who seemed to enjoy doing what he does. This is something (sadly) you don't come across very often in places like that.
Food was amazing, we went for the catch of the day, I had a skate & chips, my partner had hake & chips. Both were lush, fresh and cooked to perfection. Lovely chips, not greasy, nice and crunchy. We also had curry sauce and mushy peas, both really good too. Reasonable portions, reasonable prices.
Clean restaurant. There are few tables in the restaurant if one wants to eat in. We decided to take ours back to the hotel as I am such a messy eater 😂
No complaints. Would definitely come back.
53 years old. Had the standard medium fish and chips (£10). Was quite simply the most perfect fish and chips I have ever had. The fish was indescribably good. As white as turkey teeth, with the crispiest batter and no grease at all. Can’t honestly find the words to describe the quality.
Our experience yesterday was that Smugglers has got even better. We have been coming here for years but yesterday they excelled themselves. The chips were skin-on and tasted amazing, like something from a high-end foodie restaurant. The cod was deliciously chunky, with a thin, light batter. And we ate it piping hot sitting at a table in the warm evening sunshine on their little decking area. What more could you ask for? 😊
Best fish and chips I've had for a long time chips were perfect fish was perfect 10 out 0f 10 to the person that cooked it thankfully I don't live to far away so will be back soon.
Top notch cod and chips.
We grabbed some food tonight before heading to Kynance Cove to watch the sun setting, really good chips and the cod was delicious.
Our thanks to the Smugglers for two delicious portions of Cod n Chips 😋😋 and well worth the short drive from Mullion Cove.
Since our first visit in the early 80’s we’ve been back many times and have never been disappointed 😊
Absolutely stunning Chippy, reasonable prices and excellent food. The Homemade Fishcakes were to die for and the curry sauce was out of this world. Used twice while down for the week on holiday and heartily recommend you don’t miss out. Can order on the phone and pickup later.
Had the cod and chips today.i found the cafe very tidy and clean, the staff were very friendly. The chips were golden and so was the batter ,the fish was creamy with big flakes, just right and not greasy, delicious.
A wise man once said "the further south you travel, the better the chippy will unravel." And nothing more could be said for Smugglers. If you're looking the freshest, most delicate, traditional fish and chips - Smugglers is the one for you. Rain or shine, Smugglers is always there to brighten your day.
And when you're not feeling like fish, they have an outstanding array of options to choose from on their menu. I highly recommend trying the fried chicken, it's seasoned to perfection with a hint of citrus zest that tingle the taste buds.
Have you ever re-visited a favourite restaurant, bakery or takeaway after years only to be lead down the narrow hallway of disappointment? Well after almost 10 years of revisiting Smugglers, the quality and excellence has never dipped. Consistency is key.
My only negative point would be; once you've tried Smugglers, no other chippy will ever compare.
Lovely fish and chips. Would recommend the hake. Quick and friendly service.
Not big portions, especially veg/vegan.
Charging for sauces (20p, for no reason according to us)
Tasty,at least.
Dog friendly!! (Thankful for that!)
Had fish and chips today.. service from the lovely young gentleman was fantastic as was the food.. highly recommended
