Located about halfway up bold street in Liverpool, approximately a 10 minute walk (or else) to Lime Street Station. Quite busy when we went on but there are two window seats and some tables. There are self order machines on the right hand side for you to choose what you want, and then it gives you a receipt. You collect from the counter but you can also order at the counter. Sometimes the self order machine runs out of paper for the receipt so maybe take a photo of your order confirmation, in case you need it. Drinks were made quickly and tasted nice, lots of choice and drinks with alternative milk too (to normal cows milk).
Always been a fan of Gong Cha since I tried bubble tea. This Bold Street Gong Cha cafe is super cute. Self ordering is available. We tried their Diertea and Watermelon Milk tea. Totally amazing!!!
Great drinks, reasonable prices, friendly staff and fast service. First time ever trying bubble tea and was very impressed!
This is my 2nd time trying Gong Cha. First time I remember the bubble tea was sweet even with 50% sugar. This time I asked for less sugar and it was OK but was still a bit sweet. I noticed that they sweeten the tapioca as I saw maybe some kind of syrup that was at the bottom with the tapioca. Might as well get no sugar. Price is so slightly higher than other shops and the staff were nice.
It's good alright. Very refreshing on a hot day. The flavours are damn good (I had the mango matcha green tea one).
Best way is to try and get less ice so it doesn't dilute the taste too much and taking up too much volume.
Only personal criticism is the price as it was £5 for a large (probably due to labour work and ingredient price rising) but if you have the money to spend by all means go for it. It's just a bit of a treat.
There are 2 self-order machines which is ideal for people who don't wish to interact with others and makes ordering much nicer too as it seems like there are rumours of a rude cashier in other reviews... Nonetheless, didn't experience that.
Great service and bubble tea!
This bubble tea store is what Liverpool needed, it’s on the busy street of Bold Street and is very accessible and convenient to customers whenever you’re in the city centre compared to Chatime which is great but is closer to the Metropolitan cathedral rather than the city centre and compared to Mooboo which is terrible.
I’ve been meaning to try this Gongcha since it opened but I was unable to make the opening event when I went to study in another city. Gongcha is infamous in Asia and I remember my first ever bubble tea over 10 years ago in Hong Kong. I have tried the Manchester branch and their bubble tea was good but definitely not as good as their Hong Kong counterparts.
Firstly, as soon as I walked in I noticed the seating area was occupied by trash (as can be seen in the photo I took). Not a good look for the store and they should enforce regular store floor clean ups.
Next, the staff that was serving me was kind and I asked for her recommendation and she replied with a good option and nice response - She recommended that I get the drink with less sugar because it is sweet.
I ended up ordering a regular Earl Grey milk tea with 3 Jellies which included the tapioca, egg pudding and grass jelly (all three of my favourites!), it costed £4.20.
The flavour of Earl grey tea was nice and strong and not bland which is great and the toppings were yummy too. I would highly recommend this drink!
Overall, a great bubble tea and nice service but the store could do with regular cleaning.
The best bubble tea in town. Highly recommend their fresh milk series. There are two self-service stations in-store. Simply choose your favourite milk tea, sugar levels, ice levels and pay contactless. The system is efficient, and waiting time can be longer during peak hours.
Interesting Bubble Tea experience, one of the most popular Bubble Tea shop's in Liverpool.
If you like Bubble Tea or want to try it, try Gong Cha, you won't be disappointed.
My favourite place for Bubble Tea. Lots of options (never seen mint bubble tea before), immediate service, and immaculate seating spaces. I will be coming here as often as I can during my stay in Liverpool!
Rarely any queue. Easy to use kiosk to order or you can go to the counter. There are plug points/USB charge points inside as well as table seating.
