This was on my list for places to eat in Liverpool so we thought we’d stop here since we were somewhat near. The shop is small but quite trendy. Shame about the cracked window. It’s retro looking, they even have a street fighter arcade machine which is free to use. We were served immediately. They have a selection of maybe 8-10 sandwiches. Everyone is freshly made. Unfortunately we arrived nearer closing time so a couple of the sandwiches had sold out. The lady that served us was helpful and recommended the grinder which is what I got. The grinder is salami, prosciutto, chicken, emmental, tomato, tapenade, grinder slaw and honey. My wife is a fussy pup and there was nothing on the menu that she was confident enough in trying. The lady did try and accommodate as much as she could but we only left with 1 sandwich. The grinder was superb. Excellent flavour and incredibly tasty. It wasn’t rammed full like you sometimes see but had just enough filling. The fact that it was warm and toasted made it that much nicer. I wouldn’t come here often because it’s a little expensive at £8.50 (£11.50 for delivery) but it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had so I’ve got to come back.

One of the most authentic cafes in town. Unrivalled sandwiches and morning knots. Excellent coffee. Chilled vibes, sound staff and of course, Street Fighter 😂. Will miss Derek’s.

Just had a take away cappuccino which was tasty and the lady behind the counter was very nice. It has a really cool atmosphere inside the coffee shop 🙂🤩

Absolutely fantastic sandwiches, highly recommend the gabagool. Yes, it's expensive but the ingredients are top tier so definitely worth it.

Having lived in New York for 10 years I find Derek's a pleasant place to grab a bite. That is inspired by traditional style US delis. The sandwich I got was the vegan Turkey and it was delicious. I do think it was extremely overpriced for what you get as the sandwich isn't filled in the way I thought it would be american style. It had just a small amount of the fillings. I think the prices are very steep but I have always enjoyed the food. When visiting early on I ordered a peach tea another popular American beverage and saw it was just poured into a plastic cup from a bottle in the fridge. I assumed it was fresh homemade style peach tea.

It’s like most things you buy if you want the best you will pay more. Actually had a proper cappuccino not some milky boiling froth less mess which is the norm nowadays. The sandwich well made tasty and more than enough 👍 Great new shop in Crosby will do well

Was dissapointed initially that the skinny dennis wasn't available but went with the reuben. Actually one of the nicest things I have eaten!! Amazing. Lovely staff and deffo worth a visit. Cannot say enough nice things. Be warned though...this is not something you would eat on a first date. 😀

Lovely people, lovely food. I've heard a few people banging on about how good this place is - and they're not wrong. Not a massive veggie choice (but this is an american deli themed shop - so think philly steak, reuben etc.) The vegan butty I had was gorgeous (sorry - I ate it so quick I forgot what was in it) - lovely donuts too - great service. All good.

Went here based on my mates recommendation. My aforementioned friend and I fell through the door just before closing on Saturday afternoon. With a friendly smile, the kind wise faced looking lad at counter sadly informed us that the sandwiches were running pretty low. Ohh heck. The cold stabs of disappointment tore through my body. Were we to be left starving after our arduous hike traversing and conquering the four peaks of Sefton Park? All however was not lost. There were 4 Furios left to satiate the hunger pangs of our expeditionary crew. A most serendipitous outcome as was the very sandwich filling I was already recommended by the aforementioned friend. Hooray. The rushed quest across the wild plains of Mossely Hill to Dereks had been worth it. I had already begun the salivate at the private thoughts of devouring my sarnie. As we handed over our digital cash a dashing taller gentleman with a cheeky twinkle in his eye secretly and unbeknownst to me, deposited two doughnuts into our sandwich bag. This followed with some sage advice about carrying technique so we did not drop our precious cargo as we headed across the vast Childwall Valley towards home and the completion of our quest. The sandwiches did not disappoint. Great bread with delicious filling. My friends recommendation is now my recommendation. Go if you want a great sandwich. Need I say more.
