Used to live in the area so when we came to Liverpool we decided to have a meal and a visit to the pub. We weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly, the prices reasonable and the meal lovely. It was nice to have a gluten free menu on the table without having to ask for it. Will be going again when we visit Liverpool next time.x
Great value for money great place staff very friendly evening meal and a bottle of wine for two lovely room full English breakfast £76

When we visit Liverpool ( our daughter likes Holyoakes which is made just up the road at lime pictures ) we have lunch and a drink in the Childwall Anbey Hotel...we cant fault it at all,a véry friendly, clean and welcoming place, the food is great and also they do a really nice pint.
We would highly recommend this place..
Lovely pub and great service. We went on a Saturday when it was very busy. The food was lovely and hot and service was quick. Will definitely be back.
Only called in for a few drinks but really enjoyed it - found staff friendly and welcoming. Been going to this pub for 30 years and it hasn't changed but that's a good thing Drinks were very reasonably priced as well
We had a pre Christmas lunch at the Abbey on the 17th in the Snug it's own bar and toilets next door large table for 14 was well set out we enjoyed a varied menu and All the meals where of a decent standard everone enjoyed and the service was prompt and the staff where very friendly and helpful
Would certainly recommend you give the Abbey a try I'm sure you won't be Disappointed
Brilliant, friendly, helpful staff!!! Highly recommend a visit!!!!x
Had our Christmas with grandad party there yesterday (Sunday 10th Dec 2023)
Everything from booking this early this year to end of the afternoon yesterday the staff were very accommodating & we all had beautiful afternoon. There was approx 28 adults & 12 kids under age of 11. The room was set up lovely & in contrast to our Xmas with grandad last year it was amazing. Thankyou so much made our Christmas 2023. The pub is very welcoming & will book again for next year. Thanks so much the farrell family
Really lovely experience. This was booked as a stop over on our way to Cumbria Winfell. The rooms are above a public house, that said there wasnt alot of noise. The bed was huge and comfortable. The room was clean and tidy. My only issue was the noise when flushing the toilet. The staff were really friendly and accommodating as we requested sandwiches for our room rather than a meal in the bar. Extra milk and tea making facilities are provided on request.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely l, though far more than expected. I had the toast with smashed avocado 🥑 with bacon and a poached egg. It was delicious, hot, and tasty.
A shout out to Dave & Dan out host & chef. Thanks 👌 for everything.
We had our wedding reception at Childwall Abbey Hotel last night after eloping earlier in the week, and we had such a wonderful evening. Dave the manager was so accommodating to all of our ideas in terms of decor, music, food etc and Jason was super helpful too with all of our queries.
The food from our buffet was lovely, all of our guests commented on it! The pub atmosphere is so lovely and cosy, and the snug and function room were perfect for our intimate party of 50 guests. We had a gorgeous evening and we look forward to visiting again and celebrating more special occasions there in the future!
Me and my husband won the Valentines meal for 2 .Dave looked after us from the minute we arrived Food was delicious and the lady singing was lovely. Staff are so friendly and helpful !
Definitely would recommend The Abbey X
Wonderful stay! My third time staying at the abbey and the staff are a delight. Food is excellent! Plenty to drink! The rooms - kept well maintained and comfy beds. 10/10
Just got back from a 2 night stay. Really pleased and will definitely be staying again on another visit to Liverpool. We had the family room. Nice and clean and warm. Beds comfy. We had breakfast on the 2nd morning. Really nice and fresh. Dave and his wife couldn't do enough for us. Very friendly and chatty. Thanks very much. See you again.
Fantastic evening at the Childwall Abbey Hotel with lovely friendly staff, delicious food and great entertainment too! Dave and Sarah are amazing hosts! (We had a really tasty meal and then did the Monday Quiz! We didn’t win but had a great laugh participating! ❤️😂).
Thank you to all the lovely staff, should have got the name of the lovely waiter who was so courteous and kind to us and also thank you to Suzie for facilitating the quiz! The atmosphere in here is perfect and is just what is needed to lift those Monday blues! Thanks to everyone in the Childwall Abbey…we will be back! xx
Fantastic pub with excellent pub food. OK, it's cheaper to goto Toby and get bigger, but you don't get the location and the history Childwall Abbey has.
Great service, great pub food, great choice. Puddings are great. Did I say its great? Sherry trifle, apple crumble omg salivating again!
My partner and I returned from Aberdeen to Liverpool for a long weekend to have an overdue catch up with my close family and elderly parents.
We arrived to be met with Steven in reception, he was very welcoming and told us about our room, breakfast arrangements and how to access the building outwith pub hours.
Our room was lovely and clean and a great temperature for my partners liking, the bed was great and we both slept very well. The bathroom was clean and an adequate size, the shower was a great temperature and there was plenty of clean, fluffy white towels.
Breakfast was delicious, we ordered the BIG breakfast which was very good value for money and was a very generous size.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and it was a fab sized pub area that could house our visitors as they came back with us after being out for family get togethers, it was comfortable for us all to just sit and socialise together.
We loved this place and have booked to return again in November with my Daughter and her family as I am sure they will love it too.
Our experience here was very good! The staff are extremely kind, patient, and flexible. Dave was truly hospitable and took care of us well. The atmosphere was lovely and homely. You do get what you pay for as the plumbing is a bit loud but that is understandable for a building as old as it is. Their wifi was both free and very fast, I had no issues during my weeklong stay. Overall it is a great Inn with a good atmosphere and an amazing team of staff.
I only had a quick couple of pints but I noticed that the menu was reasonable and the atmosphere was nice enough for an afternoon pint. Quite a nice view across the valley and a car park too.
I'll be back (said in an Arnie voice)
My 92 year old mum & I had the most wonderful time on Christmas day. Dave the lovely manager (landlord?) was extremely helpful when we arrived, as the pub was packed and yet he manged to get us through in no time at all to our lovely table in a bay (with a wheelchair that was quite difficult). We were made to ferl very special and the service was 1st class and so friendly. The Christmas lunch was delicious, arrived quickly and was very hot! We were never made to feel as if we had to rush, although I knew that our table was reserved for other people after us. All in all it was a perfect meal, the staff were extremely pleasant and hard working. We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas outing. Thank you so much to David and his staff. We can't recommend the Childwall Abbey pub & restaurant enough.
I have had 2 Christmas meals at the Abbey with groups of friends and they were both very good.
The meals were beautifully presented, the food was well cooked and there was plenty of it.
I would certainly recommend the Abbey for your Christmas celebration and we will definitely be booking again next year.
Beautiful pub/inn with a church across the road and great view. Friendly staff, comfy beds and good drinks.
Picked for proximity to Liverpool Hope University we checked in extremely late thanks to the gracious staff (normally it’s 9!) and had a lovely chat enjoying a drink after a long drive.
The rooms are easy to access above the pub, with large (king-size, maybe super-long) soft comfy beds, a good-sized Tv, WiFi, basic coffee/tea mirror with hair dryer and en-suite. The windows don’t open fully but do allow in enough fresh air.
The bathrooms were retro-fitted and have macerators - you can definitely hear yours, seemingly anytime you use the plumbing. So a little consideration is needed but wasn’t woken or disturbed by anyone else’s.
It’s a shame we missed breakfast as it smelt great, and if you give a little time you might hear stories like the brides etching their names into the glass on the front windows. Everyone we encountered was friendly and thoughtful.
Think characterful stone pub with 3-star rooms and staff with personality. Would definitely stay again, arrive in time for dinner and take time to savour the view.
Lovely little place, went there for a funeral reception.
I believe the Beatles played there when they where the quarry men, although I didn't see any sign of them promoting that fact.
Nice atmosphere, and very relaxing.
