Very tasty roast dinner and dessert. Roast pork cooked perfectly with tasty gravy and veg cooked just right. Very nice chocolate dessert with ice cream and fruit. Nice surroundings and staff too.
Fabulous my favourite restaurant. I have been here lots and lots of times, as a couple, with friends. New Year's Eve last year and it was so good I have booked again for this year. My children (who are now grown up), also love it here.
Service is excellent, the waiting on staff are always very very good and very polite.
10/10 for me.
I've visited Owens a number of times over the years and it has never disappointed. They offer bistro style food served by friendly staff and try to provide something for everyone. The menu can seem a bit eccentric as a result but the food is always good, portions tend to be generous and they definitely know how to make a good sauce. Puddings are delicious but a little rich. There is a small but well-chosen wine list with some unusual selections at very reasonable prices. All in all the value is excellent. Service can be a little slow so go with a relaxed frame of mind. Parking can be tricky.
Took Mum for an early Mother's Day treat last Sunday and she was delighted, as we're my husband and I. The staff were efficient and friendly. The decor and ambience delightful and the food absolutely delicious. We arrived soon after opening in the afternoon, so had to wait about half an hour for lamb and chicken dishes, but they were well worth the wait. We were, of course, advised of the wait and were provided with bread and olives. Lovely to have something we knew was fresh and being cooked from scratch. Highly recommended!
Visited on opening night after rebranding from Owens and wasn't disappointed! Food was fab, drinks were locally sourced and not what i usually have but tried them and loved it. Perfect steak and rib of beef for mains. Owner was there and helped created a lovely ambiance x thanks for a great night .
Fabulous 2 course meal with my husband son and his fiancé. Delicious starters and mains. The most delicious calves liver ever!! Really attentive and pleasant staff. Great mood music with great ambience Will definitely be back.
We had a table for 16 people booked on the 18th January, I couldn’t fault one thing. Food all came out at the same time, hot and with great service. The choice and quality of food is amazing, staff friendly and patient, even when when we kept changing the order! All in all, a great night, will definitely be visiting again.
First visit under new name. I was impressed. A good menu and very good value. Group were very pleased with their meals. No fuss about an iffy bottle of wine. So top marks all round.
My mum and I went here for a meal a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say, it was one of the nicest meals I've ever had. The venue is cozy and intimate, but the owners have done a great job with the lighting and space so it doesn't feel cramped. The menu is small but well thought out; you can tell they have considered what they can do really well rather than having a larger or more exotic selection.
We both had the lamb for our mains, with several seasonal cocktails called Woolton Lady - gorgeous. The food was cooked to perfection, with the perfect amount of gravy and side dishes (tenderstem brocolli, roast potatoes and mashed potatoes) and we rounded off with a shared almond cake.
The food was delightful, and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and attentive without being in your face all the time. I'm looking forward to going here again, this is a rare treat to find a local restaurant with great food and ambience! I would say this is not a restaurant you want to go to with children.
Have eaten here many times, as Owens and now The Wild Fig and will continue to do so. Our latest was a family meal a couple of weeks ago for my sons 30th with a six year old and a 7mth old baby. Food was top notch as always and customer service is second to none. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and prepare appropriate food for the children. Brilliant value for money and an absolute jewel in Liverpool’s crown.
YUMMY SUNDAY LUNCH Visited here on March 2018, Not been before but each time I've driven past, it's looked closed, as the ceiling is black and the lighting quite dim, and Owens is set back from the road. Being on the corner of a VERY busy roundabout, I always thought there'd be nowhere to park but they have a small car park at the rear. WELL WHAT A WONDERFUL MEAL!!😊 We were a party of four and chose from their Sunday menu, which offers a two course deal for £15 and three courses for £20. One of or group has a small appetite so chose two starters, the second being served with our mains. She chose sweet potato and coriander fritter and said it was lovely. We three had the salmon and cod fishcake, which was beautiful presented and the mayonnaise was fab. For our mains, I has roast beef. Great choice, lovely and hot, crispy tomatoes and the carrot n turnip mash was like velvet. Yum. Another choose the roast beef, there was one who had calfs liver, and the other starter that came was macaroni cheese, which despite being a starter, was a generous portion, and was so creamy. We didn't have time for dessert as we had a prior appt. We couldn't fault a thing! Great friendly service, the waitress was very attentive and ensured we had our drinks, whilst we waited for our food. No quick microwaved rubbish here, the food is freshly prepared and beautifully presented. With a lovely ambience, Owens has it all. WE WILL BE BACK!!!
This was my first visit, and it will not be my last. Although a small venue the tables were not too close. The menu was inventive and the food superb. The staff were friendly and helpful
Owens is my wife's favourite restaurant in Liverpool and she always insists on going on her birthday.
It's a relatively small restaurant that offers mid-high range food which whilst not cheap, doesn't cost the earth. The atmosphere is quiet and cosy and the food is usually top notch. The menu changes at intervals but you can eat things like Quail and Lobster as well as the more standard fare.
We're not talking Beefeater here!
Amazing food, cooked fresh. Very good & friendly staff, make sure you save room for dessert- Heavenly! Highly recommend this restaurant.
My favourite restaurant great food, great staff and great value! We visited last night for my birthday and it didnt disappoint. I would highly recommend.
This place is a gem. Food is amazing, the place is clean, the staff are so friendly and professional. This place has improved ever time we visit. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
