Last time I tried to visit here it was too crowded and I knew I had to return to see why it’s so popular. Fantastic city centre pub that has kept the real pub feeling alive with a great selection of cask ales and lots of original woodwork and ornate glass. Sat in a very comfortable back room with a nice music mix playing and enjoyed the ambience over a couple of real beers . Definitely on my city centre list now and looking forward to the next visit.

Not been in for a few years and delighted to say its not changed 1 bit! Gorgeous place with all original fixtures and fittings - still have the match stick strikers in front of the bar!! Beautiful decor with various places to sit, drink and relax. Next time I shall be having 1 of their famous pies or pastie🥟

Nice little traditional pub in the centre of town. It's always a good place to stop by for a pint, especially if you're getting the train from Moorfields. Not a great selection of beer but it's cheap as chips. Decent selection of spirits, also cheap for what you get. Recommended.

Nice, old-fashioned pub. Excellent range of ales, including some new ones we hadn't tried from the Liverpool Brewing Company. Pity they hadn't lit the fire in there as we would've stayed longer-it was just a bit too cold.

The Lion Tavern is probably my favourite pub in the city. Its got everything you could ask for in a local. Great selections of beers and ales changed regularly. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who are happy to help with any enquiries. Fresh pork pies available along with a plethora of other bar snacks. Seating available in the two snugs or propped up around the bar itself. It's also got a free jukebox with a selection of classic hits. Can't recommend it enough.

Awesome little pub, great service, great beers, great dukebox. No televisions, you'll have to actually have to interact with folk. Always the way forward . 🥰🍺🍻

This is a good old fashioned real-ale pub. A great place to meet up with friends. Service and atmosphere are good, only marked them down on food as they only have a very limited range....

Great place for a good beer in relaxed surroundings. Absence of loud music and TVs showing football is why I often find myself in there after a long week at work.
