We used the marine lake to hire paddleboards (£12 per hour). The staff couldn't be more helpful, and we felt very safe. It's very easy to launch, and the cafe looking out on the lake was dog friendly so everyone was happy. We lost track of time paddling, and ended up returning a ring to some child
Cafe is a perfect stop off for a regular beach and park dog walker. It opens early including Mon/Tue when everywhere else locally seems to be closed in winter. I have not stayed at the hotel but I sail on the lake every Sunday. I have coffee and lunch regularly. There is a great train service (Merseyrail) with regular trains to Liverpool and Southport If you’re lucky with the weather Crosby beach nearby is amazing!

A lovely place for a spot of lunch. Staff really attentive and friendly. Ordered the Salmon and scrabbled eggs on toast, was really nice! Definitely go back.
