Reviews Doctor Duncan's

Very quiet on a Sunday afternoon, I was one of only a few people. Almost too quiet, kind of a bummer. Had a great English Stout from cask but otherwise the service could have been friendlier and the interior a bit brighter. Classic and rustic with some beautiful rooms but it seems to be missing something special.

Lovely pub, and deceptively larger than the exterior would suggest. Great place for traditional Scouse, although they do sell out quickly, however you wouldn't be disappointed with anything you choose as they use good quality ingredients at a reasonable price. Can get busy at high traffic times as it's near the empire theatre. Great history in the place fantastic period features, open fireplaces, and historical artifacts on display. Good range of guest ales if that's your thing

A great find. Beautiful interior, great selection of ales and the food is top notch and great value - only let down today was the number of items that were unavailable (pulled pork and fish - a star knocked off for that). Friendly staff and I laughed when I said I wanted to take a photo of the bar and the barmaid said she'd "get out of the way" before dropping to the floor behind the bar! Hilarious - a great sport! Will definitely come back the next time we're in Liverpool.

Came here for a wedding reception and it was superb. The pub is full of character and a rich history with varied areas to enjoy a pint. The bar service was where this pub really excels: despite being busy I was seen to swiftly each time. Marble floors and tiled walls; large windows and high ceilings. A definite highlight of my weekend in Liverpool.

We held our 10th beer club here on a Thursday night. What a lovely interior that I was unaware of until I went to the toilet because our mate sat near the door. Cosy open fire, great selection of ales and friendly/knowledgeable staff. Priced good too.

Doctor Duncan's is such a wonderful place to go for a few libations as it carries a beautiful select of cask beers, which in the centre of Liverpool is a difficult thing to find. I started with a creme brulee sweet stout that was poured perfectly and tasted sublime, then a pint of juicy IPA which once again was outstanding. The decor of the place is in my view a mix of olde worlde and modern which makes it very relaxing and a pleasure to be in. In a word AWESOME!!. Can't rate food as we didn't eat, or see anyone else eating.

Perfect pub in the heart of Liverpool. Really atmospheric tiled old school interior with the ideal selection of beer, don’t think 40 taps, that’s not here, instead think about 11 beers but well chosen and mostly local or localish. But what makes this pub so good is the people. From staff to locals you find the cream of Liverpudlianists. I look forward to returning on my next visit to the city.

Very good Liverpool pub not far from Lime Street Station. 4 cask beers on handpump when I visited including a porter. The pub has an impressive Victorian interior with four different drinking areas, of which the green tiled room is particularly handsome. The pub’s name commemorates Doctor Duncan, the first chief medical officer of Liverpool and a campaigner against poor living conditions in Victorian Liverpool.

Lovely pub with polite staff. Love the place but had a bad experience on Saturday evening. The pub is dog friendly which I like but a couple had their dog with them, on its leash friendly and approachable, another man who appeared to be a local had his dog a bull dog bread off its lead, he was the worse for drink. His dog attacked the other dog but he didn’t put it on a leash and it went back and did it again but this time biting the owner of the dog. Either the staff didn’t see it or know the man but nothing was done.

Nice local pub. Right next door to the Delta Marriott Hotel. I love pubs because of the beer grub (the British food)... but.. no food, so I could not review.
