So walking past this place on Bold Street I decided to pop in after following the progress on the Facebook page, as they were not open at this point i gave my best wishes, to my delight they were handing out free portions of tasters....and they were exactly that....TASTY! Just delicious! The fish is sooo fresh, the batter light and crispy made from a homemade recipe and the chips insane! A must try if you're about town and want to try out some traditional fish and chips with a twist! Will be here all the time! HA.
Walked past on our way into the city centre to do a little shopping and spotted Johnny English chip shop didn't fancy a burger while shopping so myself and the wife decided to try this fish and chip shop and glad we did the service was second to none it was fast and the quality of the food was fantastic would definitely be back again while in the city centre.
Fantastic Chippy, lovely and clean, but best of all, they use beef dripping to cook the food, absolutely delicious !

Great value for money! Kids loved their fish finger boxes and ours were cooked beautifully. Chips were perfect and great brew, will be back soon!!
Couldn't think of a more perfect family to run a business together. Going to be a massive success. About time liverpool got a decent well run chip shop. Also what a location. Well done xx
An absolute gem. Food excellent, staff homegrown , witty scouters !! Inquired about hosting Dads birthday party in here. Ticks all the boxes. Immaculate and really well priced x

For me, it's -honestly- the best fish and chips I've tasted in my life
Brilliant fish and chip shop situated in the heart of Liverpool, will defiantly be going back in the future and recommended to friends!
Stopped in at around 6:30 on a Wednesday night and there were about three other small groups there. I ordered the fish n chips dinner(incl mushy peas), and my wife had the small portion. The food was good, but the larger portion was nearly identical on size to the smaller portion. I definitely would have gone for the smaller if I'd known. Paid about £10 total.
Otherwise, it was a lovely experience. We just ordered tap water and the hostess broght us bottled water for no charge!
Johnny English's shiny golden exterior has been catching Liverpudlian's eyes for a couple of weeks now. It's finally opened yet feels out of place in a city centre, it really gives off that seaside, fresh catch vibe! The fish and chips are great, service was slightly shaky yet they they had only been open two days when I visited so I'll let them off. I just went for your bog standard fish and chips and they were definitely above average, maybe this place does have potential to stick around on the food famous Bold Street for a while!
It is the first time I have lunch at this restaurant. Located in the middle of famous Bold Street, you can come from Liverpool Central Station without any difficulty. We ordered fried fish and clips, fish bites, onion rings and pale ale. The fried fish batter is thin and crispy. The fish is fresh and soft. The food portion is quite large at a very reasonable price. You will feel very full after finishing the large fish and clips. At the same time, the taste of pale ale is very refreshing too. Together with the nice service and friendly dining environment, I highly recommend this restaurant to all fish and clips lovers

Staff were kind, friendly and chatty. It was a nice clean and open chippy. I ordered fish chips and Curry with a coke. The chips were perfect - soft and crunchy. I am fussy with my chips. The batter for the fish was light and crunchy. This was perfect as the fish was not oily and greasy. The curry sauce was really nice too. I loved the curry sauce. My cousin really enjoyed his chips and sausage! A place I would easily visit again. Just writing this makes me hungry for more 🤩🤤🤤
Wonderful place with all the delicious flavors of the real deal on fish and chips. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Clean restrooms. Enjoy the best of Bold Street and stop by to get the best flavors of Liverpool !
What can I say if you want traditional fish & chips this is the chipper fou you beautiful fresh fish chips and mushy peas served in take away cartons which we ate inside. one of my friends had scampi which she loved too. Tasty food reasonably priced centre of Liverpool well worth a visit
The best fish and chip in Liverpool. The fish is fresh and it is fried once an order is placed, so freshness and deliciousness are guaranteed. I had it with gravy sauce; nothing else to say except the fact that it’s amazing.
How to recognize a good place to eat? See that almost all the time, the place is booked! We went to Johnny English and were not disappointed. The food is freshly cooked, portions are huge, all served with a smile and a polite recommendation. I can't wait to go back and I recommend a visit whenever in Liverpool.
Had the small fish and chips, it's more than enough for one person so we shared. The batter was well seasoned and the curry sauce was great.
Huge crispy battered cod and crispy chips, shared the large fish dinner and we were both famished. Great spot for a quick bite before or after a pint or two.
My favourite fish and chips in liverpool.
Fresh, nice staff. Always visit there whenever i want a fried fish
Pretty decent fish and chips, I especially liked the gravy, as odd as that is for an American. If it’s busy, it can take 10-15+ minutes to get your food.
