Wow had a great lunch and a pint at the Philharmonic. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the service was great. It is a beautiful place and would recommend you try it, if you haven't!!
Just had Fish ( line caught ) & Chips, very nice. Really nice dinning room which is up stairs. Great place for a drink as well, you should check out the toilets. You will understand when you see them.
Went there last might and it was very goog the food was good and so was the service I'd reccommend it the pub it's self is brillient inside with a good atmosphere and the wife saidd the food was home made.
Even if you visit only to do a lap around this beautiful pub, it’s worth it. Beautiful inside and out with many private rooms and a large dining room. Lovely old bar with plenty of draft options and several from the cask. I visited on a Sunday which might be why they had a sign saying food could not be ordered unless you had a reservation made the day prior or even earlier. Was looking forward to a Sunday Roast. Bummer.
We had dinner here last week when visiting Liverpool. Amazing pub and restaurant. I had the fish and chips and it was very, very good. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was excellent and very friendly. Make a reservation for the dining room. The pub (downstairs) is stunning. Beautiful wood work and very cozy. Many selections of beer, mixed drinks and wine on the menu. We did not have any problem finding a spot to sit. A must visit when in Liverpool.
Beautiful looking pub with the dining rooms upstairs.
Service was fast and friendly. Food was superb. I started with duck croquettes. Main was a huge beef pie with mash and gravy. Very tasty, very filling.
Very handy location for the Phil, just over the road.
We had a delicious pub lunch at this iconic old pub. Service was excellent in a very busypub. We'll worth a visit.
The Philharmonic Dining Rooms, located in Liverpool, is an iconic Victorian pub with a rich history and distinctive architecture. Designed by renowned architect Walter W. Thomas, this Grade II listed building, commonly known as "The Phil," has been a cherished establishment since its opening in 1898.
Stepping into The Philharmonic Dining Rooms is like entering a time capsule of opulence and elegance. The ornate interiors boast intricate woodwork, stained glass windows, and mosaic tile floors that transport visitors to a bygone era. The pub's name is derived from its close proximity to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, emphasizing its connection to the city's cultural heritage.
Beyond its architectural allure, The Phil is celebrated for its extensive selection of ales, ciders, and spirits, providing patrons with a diverse and refined drinking experience. The pub's commitment to quality extends to its dining offerings, with a menu featuring classic pub fare prepared with a touch of sophistication.
Whether it's savoring a pint in the grandeur of the Victorian-era surroundings or relishing a well-prepared meal, The Philharmonic Dining Rooms invites guests to immerse themselves in the unique ambiance of Liverpool's social and architectural history.
Absolutely amazing...I recommend you visit. A gentleman's club of a time gone, but the building remains available for all to enjoy. We certainly did. Went midweek so quieter than it would be at a weekend. Regrettably we did not take our dogs but they are certainly very welcome along with their own bar with water and treats.
We ate and the food was very good. Would certainly revisit. 5+ from me.
This place just oozes class. We enjoyed late night drinks and chat here, and I wished we'd visited earlier to soak it up better.
Indulge your John Wick fantasies, or imagine the past conversations those walls have heard.
If nothing else, visit for the spectacular ablutions, for a sublime slash ☺️
Jaw dropping Victorian decor and faultless bar food.
I'm in love with the architecture here from the copper details, mahogany, stained glass (and rhyming slang Brahms and Liszt on the doors to the snugs). To me, going here for a pint or a meal is like admission to a museum.
The food is very good. They offer pub favourites and some more upmarket choices; menu and booking are available online which we prefer. I had fish and chips and my partner had seabass and we both were very happy. Served hot and quickly and prices were reasonable.
We were welcomed into the restaurant area warmly. On this occasion there was slight confusion with our reservation and I had to show the confirmation on my phone. It was rectified immediately.
It was a perfect casual meal in superb surroundings with great service.
Dropped in on the watly back to Lime Street. Good selection of beers, Nicholson house. Didnt have her with mectoday, however it border collie, and I suppose, dog friendly.
Have been enjoying a pint and guiding ladies, with cametas into the gents; apparently theyre more interesting than the ladies 🤣
Attention to detail on food amazing as was very nice as polished off 3 courses, service tiptop as very pleasant & attentive. Highly recommend and sure to visit again.
Just nipped in here to use the loo but what an amazing pub! The architecture in here is amazing. Worth a trip to the loo just to see the architecture of the pub. I know the outside sign says to see the loos but I thought the interior of the pub was amazing! Never seen anything like it.
This place is not only historical, it’s hysterical! Starting with the men’s bathroom. I cannot tell you how many women found their way to the men’s room! Probably beause the men’s room is pretty dang cool. The food was terrific and the lunch crowd on a weekday wasn’t bad at all. Very convenient as several major tourist sites are within blocks of the establishment. Beautiful, elegant but not Posh-ish at all! Affordable too!
Popped in to the famous Philharmonic for a couple drinks- beautiful building! Definitely worth a visit whilst you’re in Liverpool. Reasonably priced and amazing atmosphere.
I went there a few days ago from Japan. All employees are so nice. Especially Dan is a most kind man. We got the best of customer service from him. I do appreciate it. I definitely come back.
Fantastic bar with old fashioned decor that is amazing to view.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Will definitely be coming back here again!
If you want to have traditional British food in a beauty location, this is the place to go. Wonderful interior and tasty food. We had the steak pie, goat cheese pie and fish and chips and all were very tasty.
Amazing place! Best food I got on Liverpool, definitely the best vegan apple pie I had in my life. If I ever pop in Liverpool again I’m totally coming back to check again on their top quality red wine selection and real, tradicional, well served British food. Delicious vegan versions, delighted myself on the most delicious lentil pie with lots of tasty gravy. Salad is a special mention cos I’m not a fan of carrots and yet I loved it with leek.
Prices were down to earth and place was beautiful. Fans of The Beatles, Paul McCartney specially will be thrilled. For me, dreamer and architecture student, I got mesmerized by the trip into Victorian times. It’s a big place, with lots of more private area where larger groups can meet and gather together in a different vibe from the rest of the consumers - that’s because their menu has from coffee to drinks.
You can order from table with your phone or at the desk. My only complaints are about the dismissing attendants, they were not very welcoming, and the next day leftover champagne they serve as a free treat for the tourists of the sightseeing bus could be a little bit less obvious but it won’t kill you and it’s free.99
Beautiful pub with amazing interior design. Eye candy if you like old and beautiful pubs. Sadly the young staff was very poor and showed zero interest in being service minded.
What more needs to be said about the Philarmonic!
Great meeting place (and tourist central!), always a fantastic range of beers on offer (this time I went for Mad Goose by Purity Bewing Co.. Which had 20% off when I paid so made for a very decently priced round!).
Didn't eat today, but have eaten here before and food was always great. Even for a Saturday afternoon it was busy, tables and a seat always a premium so if intending to visist as a group and want somewhere for a few hours, it's best to ring ahead and book somewhere.
If you have never been, the decor is a amazing and well preserved.. And yes, visit the toilets (honestly), but please ladies.. Don't wander in when men are in there, it's quite disconcerting 😂
Excellent pub which hopefully will be around forever.
