This place is very well situated and the prices reflect that. the staff are very efficient and pleasant. The portions of Tapas are tasty but small so i suggest you get several. The house wine was at room temperature so we got ice, not ideal.
Lunya may be located amid Liverpool ONE’s many eateries but make no mistake… this independent deli, bar and restaurant truly stands out. Located in a converted 18th century warehouse, the premises are beautiful yet functional, with outside seating, bar area and restaurant upstairs. The deli boasts a mind-boggling selection of delights!
An experience not just food.. Really loved this place. Took my girlfriend here and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was great, and the choice and selection was amazing. However, what seriously set this place apart was the service. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and extremely informative. They really knew their menu and how to suggest dishes/wines to cater for our particular tastes. They have a great selection of wines, which they source from unique sources. The decor, space, chitter chatter, view into the bustling kitchens all added to the atmosphere and experience. Would definitely go again.
Fantastic, steak was to die for, fish stew gorgeous. Staff friendly & enthusiastic. Can't wait to go back
I decided to leave the confines of Manchester city centre for the evening and took a short train journey to visit Lunya in Liverpool. It sits just on the outskirts of the Liverpool One shopping centre and consists of a deli, restaurant and bar. The deli is absolutely jam packed with cheeses, wines, hams, pates and spanish beers and that's just scratching the surface.
Lunya is a restaurant based on College Lane within Liverpool One, serving up Catalan cuisine with some dishes paying homage to the Scouse link. It has recommended in the Good Food Guide since 2011. There are many strong tapas offerings in the city in Neon Jamon and Salt House Tapas and we wanted to complete the set with Lunya which seems to get rave reviews. We visited one lunchtime and took advantage of the lunchtime offer of 3 tapas and bread for £10.75. Dishes we picked included: Piquillo pepper stuffed with Bonito tuna, creamed cheese, parsley and cornichons. Whilst sounding interesting we were dissapointed when presented with a lone pepper with a filling not disimilar to tuna mayoannaise. Not the best start. The 18month cured Trevelez Serrano ham fared much better, a quality ham given the price. A locally inspired dish of Catalan scouse with Morcilla and chorizo. This was Mrs Nom's first scouse, sadly it was too thick and gloopy and was in much need of more sauce. Lamb tagine with
One of the things I like to do in Spain is a tapas trail, work out a map of all the places I want to visit and try and go to as many as we can in one night. 'La Marcha ' (bar hopping) is very common in Spain especially when there are so many bars in close proximity (Seville is very good for this, obviously San Sebastian is the best in the world). You might have the snails in one bar, then go next-door as their mushrooms are the best. A tapas trail in Manchester would be quite impossible as there are no decent tapas bars in the city centre right now until Ibérica come to Spiningfields in the Autumn. Not so Liverpool. So as we were going for the day, we worked out a map. What follows is less of a restaurant review (as we only sampled a few dishes at each place), more of a general impression of the food that we had (although I asked at each one which were their best tapas). First up, Lunya . I've wanted to go to this deli come tapas bar for ages as I follow them on twitter. We arrived ear
Fantastic place, the food was amazing as well as the Spanish beers and wines. We went for our anniversary. The staff were amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and looked after us... Highly recommended.
A visit to this Spanish deli in Liverpool has become a delightful tradition for me. The hand-churned butter is a standout, and it's the reason I always make a point to stop by during my visits.
The butter, with its rich and creamy texture, is an absolute delight for the taste buds. I find myself unable to resist the temptation to grab a can (or two) every time I'm there. It has become a must-buy item for me, and I appreciate the authenticity and quality that sets it apart.
During my recent visit, I decided to venture beyond my usual purchase and tried their chorizo sausage roll. What a treat! The combination of flaky pastry and flavorful chorizo was a taste sensation. I was so impressed that I seriously contemplated going back for ten more – it was that good!
This deli has consistently exceeded my expectations, not just for butter but also with its diverse and delicious offerings. If you're a fan of authentic Spanish flavors or simply looking for a culinary adventure, this place is a hidden gem in Liverpool. Don't miss out on the chorizo sausage roll; it might just become your new favorite too!
Lunya is a lovely restaurant offering a great selection of Spanish tapas.
We visited for lunch and surprised we had to wait to be taken to a table as it was pretty quiet. It didn't stay quiet for long though as not long after being seated 2 large groups arrived 😅
It is relatively long, narrow and on 2 levels.
Decor is nice and bright.
Food (which is fairly expensive) and service was very good with no complaints 😃
11/10 excellent as always. Just brilliant food cooked to be it's best
We ate here on a Friday night, early doors. The place had a good atmosphere, despite it being early and not full. Food was nice but not outstanding, the goats cheese was probably the best course, the prawns looked good but were a little tasteless. Staff were friendly and really attentive. Prices were reasonable given the central location. They also have a deli which looked really good and had authentic Spanish staples
A nice place to grab a Catalonian/Spanish tapas meal with a long list of tapas to cater for just about anyone. The food was overall very good though for me not quite as fantasticly prepared as some of the better places in Barcelona. Perhaps the menu slightly went for quantity rather than select dishes. Still very enjoyable with dishes like delicious jamon and cheeses, full of flavour chorizo, crispy battered calamari, crispy skinned perfectly cooked fish, and slightly gooey crispy very light batter goats cheese.
Having been to this restaurant a few times now, I can confidently say that it has become my go-to choice for an authentic Spanish dining experience in Liverpool.
The menu boasts a mouthwatering selection of freshly made Spanish tapas that cater to both traditionalists and those looking to explore new flavors. What struck me the most was the evident commitment to using the freshest ingredients. Each dish that graced our table was a testament to the restaurant's dedication to quality and authenticity.
The tapas selection is a delightful journey through the rich tapestry of Spanish cuisine. The patatas bravas were perfectly crisp on the outside and wonderfully fluffy on the inside, doused in a tangy and robust bravas sauce that left me craving more. The gambas al ajillo, a garlicky shrimp dish, showcased the art of simple yet profound flavors.
It’s worth noting that the service did have moments of being a tad slow, which required a touch of patience.
But ! Whether you're a devoted fan of Spanish cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore new flavors, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. It's clear that the culinary team takes immense pride in delivering an authentic Spanish dining experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Excellent food. We ordered 7 different items between me and my fiance and they were all delicious. The service was top class. The servers knew we needed drinks before we did. As we were eating a man came in and set up with a guitar and started playing music and it made the atmosphere go up a level. All in all a great night and we can't wait to return.
Really tasty food
I had the meatballs, mac and cheese and potatoes braves.
Good drinks options.
Small area of outdoor seating.
Modern mixed with traditional decor inside.
Staff helpful.
Only negatives:
Toilets are up long winding stairs which is a little exhausting.
It took ages to get the bill.
Arrived without a reservation at roughly 16:00ish as we were both craving some Tapas! Luckily we managed to get a table, everything was explained to us by the front of house manager - everything is cooked fresh and is served as and when it is prepared.
We ordered the albondingas (meatballs), loaded patatas bravas, pan alioli, serrano ham, crispy chicken, and croquetas. We cannot fault any of the food, all of it tasted fresh and full of flavour, only slight issue was our pan alioli perhaps got lost in the order and we reminded staff that it was missing, to which it was brought out.
We’re not massive wine drinkers, however there is a large selection of Spanish wines and there is an option to have Sangria too.
Pricing isn’t tapas prices you’d pay in Spain, and is a tad on the expensive side, however, Lunya has got the concept bang on, would recommend for a date night, group / family event.
First time eating tapas outside of Spain food was delicious we chose six dishes non meat we cleared the plates.Sounded basic I did not realise how much taste could come from veg LOVED every bite.Menu had loads to choose from my daughter highly recommend house red.Price good, staff were lovely. There is also a shop when entering with loads of goodies.
The waitress was really nice and helped us to pick wine. We ordered gourmet banquets which include 10 dishes. It was a big portion and all tasted good.
A real taste of Spain.
Lovely atmosphere, outstanding service and the food is just a cut above the rest.
We look forward to going again!
Highly recommended.
Spotted this while walking through Liverpool, and did not have many expectations, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality.
Lovely presentation and friendly service. The Catalan-style scouse was a surprise hit, but the wontons, croquettes, and manchego were also great.
We had an amazing lunch after accidentally finding this gem close to our hotel. The food was excellent and the service exceptional. Wish we lived closer to be more frequent visitors
