Dinner on 1 February 2016. Great service, friendly staff, brilliant food, tasty sangria. The salt cod croquettes were particularly yummy as was the chicken breast.

I have been struggling to find decent tapas for quite some time so when I found out I was going to Liverpool I knew I just had to go to Salt House Tapas as I had heard great things about the food. I had no idea what to expect but the imposing listed building which houses the restaurant made a good first impression.

Bustling, bountiful tapas. Finally made it here for a pre-theatre quick fix. I thought it was great, and already looking forward to returning and giving the menu a proper work out.

The building and the room are lovely. Busy without being deafening. I am kicking myself for not buying one of the empty industrial sized olive tins they use for flowers at the bargain price of £2 (presumably people had been nicking them!)

We had:

(a huge, moist) tortilla
Pan con tomate
(buttery, generous) hand carved Iberico
Sauteed baby chorizo with honey (the combo of sweet and fiery was a mouthfest)
Ham croquetas
Fish finger sliders (not exactly traditional tapas fare but a fine invention nevertheless)
Confit duck with kale and sweet potato and fried egg (they didn't have a lot left so we were very kindly comped this)

Servings are all big. The menu reads interestingly. The old faves are all there but I've also got my eye on Stornoway black pudding with potato and capers, earl grey crema catalana, cured sardines et al.

Service was ace. We said we needed to be out in 45 mins so they rushed our order through, which was most appreciated.

Excellent Spanish Cuisine. Which? Good Food Guide recommends Salt House Tapas for a reason. We visited it for lunch on a Sunday and ate from the L10 per person menu, which included three tapas each, along with bread. The portions were reasonable for a tapas bar, and all were consistently excellent, although the roasted, salted pork belly on a bed of mustard greens was absolutely delicious. What impressed me the most was the fact that every tapas entree was brought out piping hot so that the food arrived at the table literally steaming. Flavors were bold and worked in harmony.

We went for dinner here and we had a fantastic meal! We shared 6 tapas between 3 of us - every dish was delicious. Would recommend ordering the steak! We will be back to try the rest of the menu! Prob a little pricier than ur usual Spanish restaurant but def worth every penny!

Go for the lunchtime deal. The lunchtime deal is well worth it as at usual prices it's more expensive than the average tapas place. The food is consistently good and I really like the sourdough bread. The staff are friendly and efficient. The place has a nice feel to it but the tables are a little small for tapas and the tapas can come out at different times, which removes your chance to pick at different dishes. Also, in summer, avoid sitting in front of the big windows as the sun blazes in and it's uncomfortable because they have no window dressing.

One of the strongest cuisines offered by the Liverpool dining scene is Spanish, tapas in particular, if you discount La Tasca that is. Situated on the corner where Hanover Street meets Liverpool One it is in a prominent position.  We have been in for cocktails but only recently for food. Tempted by the lunch offer of 3 tapas dishes for £11 it turned out to be great value. Alot of the popular items from the main menu are included in the lunch offer which is welcome as sometimes the choice can be a bit limited. We started off with a charcuterie board with quality cuts of of Serrano ham, chorizo and  pepper salchichón.   Next was a satisfying portion of mussels with cider, thyme, shallots and cream. We mopped up the sauce with the sourdough bread. Moroccan spiced chicken with yoghurt and flatbread had lovely flavours and was one of Mrs Noms favourite dishes during this visit. Pumpkin risotto with sage and hazelnut pesto, a light dish which we enjoyed as the other dishes had quite strong f

One of the things I like to do in Spain is a tapas trail, work out a map of all the places I want to visit and try and go to as many as we can in one night. 'La Marcha ' (bar hopping) is very common in Spain especially when there are so many bars in close proximity (Seville is very good for this, obviously San Sebastian is the best in the world). You might have the snails in one bar, then go next-door as their mushrooms are the best. A tapas trail in Manchester would be quite impossible as there are no decent tapas bars in the city centre right now until Ibérica come to Spiningfields in the Autumn. Not so Liverpool. So as we were going for the day, we worked out a map. What follows is less of a restaurant review (as we only sampled a few dishes at each place), more of a general impression of the food that we had (although I asked at each one which were their best tapas). First up, Lunya . I've wanted to go to this deli come tapas bar for ages as I follow them on twitter. We arrived ear

The restaurant is decked out in light woods, sage paint and specials above the open faced kitchen - with an almost canteen feel about it. There are interesting spanish touches like c

Great atmosphere, great food. We had the prawns, scallop, pork belly, chicken skewers and mushroom risotto. All delicious! Also tried the burnt cheesecake which was also super smooth and creamy. Would highly recommend trying this restaurant!

We had a great lunch with friends at Salt House Tapas. The staff are friendly and helpful but never intrusive. The food is delicious, freshly cooked to order and sufficiently large enough to satisfy. And the building is historic, interesting and industrial looking with exposed pipework, cream and green tiles and very high ceilings. We chose from the lunch menu - three dishes each for £17.95, with some extra bread, oil and aioli. We had (several!) bottles of wine (there were six of us), and water was happily provided too.

Indeed a great Spanish restaurant, their dishes are amazing, I love the sizzling prawn the most, ox cheek is another must try. Services are great too, very attentive and welcoming. Their sangria tastes even better than many restaurants in Spain. Highly recommended.

I came here for dinner with some work friends last night, amazing greeting from the staff. They were super friendly and made the experience so much more enjoyable. Food came really promptly and they were great portions for tapas, even got our Spanish friend’s stamp of approval! Big thanks to the managers Lidia and James and the other girls who served us that night 🫶🏼

Immediately after walking in, it smelt delicious - like one of those Spanish buffets you get on holiday! The decor is nice and fitting. Waitress was lovely, she served us attentively and even poured our drinks for us. The main menu seemed a little expensive but we got the lunch menu which was a good deal. Food comes as it’s made here, not all at once, which I was particularly fond of since it’s fresh out of the kitchen. The risotto was a bit bland but the rest of the food was amazing, and special mention to the chorizo which was one of the best chorizo dishes i’ve ever had. It was so juicy and flavoursome. The sauce for the calamari was deliciously tart with a hint of lemon, which really complimented the squid. Jug of red sangria was delicious and a good portion for price.
