T his weekend saw Classic (the mother-in-law) taking our two lads, Fidget and Shy, to Chester so Red (the wife) and I planned a bit of a weekend consisting of breakfast at Annie’s Tea Rooms, a film, staying over at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool (courtesy of Classic) with cocktails an d ending the whole shebang with dinner at the Hanover Street Social (HSS) with our friends Lady Furness and Vincenzo. What romantics we are! “Exemplary prompt and efficient service was to be a feature throughout the meal” Small Plate Starters We had some excellent cocktails at the Titanic Hotel then headed off to the HSS. So it was a very jolly foursome that entered the large dining room of the Hanover Street Social, one of a series of restaurants occupying a vibrant area of the city. We were greeted swiftly and pleasantly by one of the serving staff who had us seated in no time. This exemplary prompt and efficient service was to be a feature throughout the meal and is a lesson many other restaurants in the

Over the years I’ve walked past Hanover Street Social countless times.  Always getting it mixed up with the much more in your face frontage of The Hub having not been to any of them.  It is easy to miss Hanover Street Social with its low profile black signage when you have the bright Bem Brazil and Bistro Jacques across the road.  I recently noticed that the restaurant is listed in the 2013 editions of the Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide so with no other ideas on one random Sunday we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was larger than I imagined and the unassuming entrance masks how big it is inside.  The Sunday lunch menu is served on Sundays with a set choice of 2 or 3 courses for a modest £12.95 or £16.95.  We settled for 2 courses and skipped the starters in anticipation of a mammoth roast.  The roast choices were leg of lamb, sirloin of beef or pork belly.  My first choice was lamb but they had sold out so I settled on the pork belly. My pork belly came with roast potatoes

Just out for a few beers and popped in for a quick drink. The restaurant section was full but luckily the bar area was empty. I think this proves people don't come here to drink, they come here purely for the food. If you want a quiet pint this is the place to go. Nice beer, and nice helpful staff.

Visited on Saturday to celebrate my birthday and needed to leave a review to say how fantastic everything was. The food was superb as usual. The atmosphere was classy but not pretentious, you could see everyone having a great time, just as we did. The staff were outstanding. Despite having a party of ten we never had to wait for our food or drinks. One girl in particular (from Belfast, apologies I didn't catch her name) was exceptional. She was excellent an it was a pleasure to be looked after by her. Can't wait to come back. Thanks.

Went to the Hanover Street Social, we had booked for 12.00 noon but arrived 10 mins early and they weren’t open yet. Regardless of that we were made welcome and shown to our seats and made extremely welcome. We had the lunch time special, I had the Chicken pot pie with chips - to say that it was excellent does not give justice - it was fantastic! The taste was just amazing. My wife’s meal was fish and she said that was great as well, we complimented the staff for the quality of the meal and the service we received. Highly recommend this restaurant, if I could give 5 more stars they would have got them.

Had a late lunch here with friends off the Express Lunch menu on Wednesday. The honey and chilli chicken wings were tasty and had a nice kick, gammon chop was good too. Others in our party had the soup, chicken pot pie and steak. Ice creams and sticky toffee puddings too. We all enjoyed. Nice, manageable portion sizes on the lunch menu and reasonable value. Been here often for a late lunch and it always seems busy and lively atmosphere no matter what day of the week. The staff are really nice and friendly.

Lovely meal, great choice, service excellent. But like a lot of these venue's wine far too expensive. Would personally eat out more often, but just a glass of wine makes a meal unaffordable.

Accommodated us as walk ins on a Saturday night. Good food, although extremely limited options for someone both gluten intolerant and vegetarian. Good atmosphere. Only comment was the red wine wasn't great. Good grape options but tasted a little on the cheap side. Great cocktails though!

Food was delicious, excellent quality for the price for all three courses. Only issue with the restaurant was the lack of heating - customers were sitting with their coats on - no explanation from staff. Otherwise would definitely recommend it, good food done well at good price

The place is nice and has a wide menu. Prices in line with the area. We took the lunch express menu. Unfortunately, the food took a lot to come, we got our appetizer in 15 minutes and then over 30 minutes additional wait for the mains. The food was good, overall good value, but lunch express name did not love up to the express part, more than 1.5 hours.

Booked this restaurant for a Sunday roast, boy this place did not disappoint. If you want to have a dessert, we’d personally recommend you just have the two course consisting of the main and dessert - we did have starters (goats cheese & chicken wings) We both had the roast beef and ordered some pigs in blankets, the portion sizes are very generous, potatoes were very crispy, beef cooked to perfection, plenty of gravy and veg. £22.50 for two courses or three courses for £26.50. Very good value for money here.

This is a really cosy and nice restaurant to have a traditional English roast meal. I had the goat cheese as a starter which was nice and the roast beef which was well cooked and tasty. The meat and potatoes were really good, was not impressed with the Yorkshire pudding (was still ok). Was too full for desert but friends had the sticky pudding and loved it. The staff was very friendly, it did took some time for the food to come out though. Cosy and casual atmosphere but it was a bit cold. All in all, i would definitely recommend this restaurant!
