An interesting menu, lots of great small tasting dishes done well and with care. Good service and a wide bar range complete the night. A little noisy but great to sit at the bar or outside and watch Liverpool pass by.
We had dinner tonight at Salt House Bacaro & things were really good. From the ambience, to the service & the food, everything was excellent. My favorite tapas were the spicy salami pizza, the risotto, & the salted caramel dark chocolate pot for dessert.
We visited the latest opening from the Salt House group for lunch during the sunny Easter break. Salt House Bacaro serves up Italian inspired small plates and is situated a couple of doors away from San Carlo on Castle Street. The area is like a mini Italian town with Olive and Piccolinos also in close proximity. The restaurant fills the Italian small plates void left since the closure of Pesto in Liverpool One. The décor has a warehouse/factory feel which seems to be bog standard these days and is similar to Artisan in Manchester and Byron Liverpool in terms of tone and atmosphere. We are fans of Salt House Tapas from the same group which serves up the Spanish equivalent if you never guessed from the name. Being lunch we decided to order a few dishes from the set lunch menu and some from the a la carte. The lunch deal is 3 small plates from a set menu similar to Salt House Tapas but minus the bread. The main menu has a varied mix of cichetti, charcuterie, pizzettes, fish, meat and veg
Perfect restaurant to grab some Italian small plates!

A rainy evening at Liverpool, wandering around to find a dinner place and walked into Bacaro. Service was good and attentive, my server did a good job explaining the highlights of the broad menu and yes I was by myself and had 4 dishes, but since the portion was not very big I'm glad I actually got the chance to try out all those wonderful food.

Roasted Tomatoes, Mozzarella and Fresh Basil Pizza: A
It tasted just like the name of this dish, the roasted tomatoes added extra grilling taste to the pizza, the dough was perfectly made, lots of mozzarella and bail used in this rather small personal pizza.
Roasted Cod: A
It's my first time trying creamed mash mixing with egg yolk, the slimy texture was very interesting. Cod was perfectly prepared. But overall it was really the egg yolk that added the delightfulness to the dish.
Braised Ox Cheek: A
It's kind of gamey which I actually enjoy a lot. It was perfectly cooked, very tender and temperature was very even across the whole piece. The sauce was really interesting, I tried to figure out what it was but still couldn't, there was some truffle and bone marrow flavor to it, and with the creamy mushroom.... perfect.
Risotto: A-
Perfectly made from texture standpoint, the whole dish was slightly salty but the asparagus added hint of freshness. Lots of flavor on the palate, the snow peas added another layer of texture to the sticky risotto.
Overall I enjoyed every dish that evening. Glad that I found such a wonderful place in Liverpool.
Great concept! Small Italian plates. Professionally made interesting cocktails too! Cool and hip location in a nice area. Great place for a fun date.
You order several plates for the table. They come out separately, when they are ready. So you have to be a little flexible. Everything we had was good. And I heard the people round me mentioning they loved what they ordered.
Found this gem online while visiting Liverpool. Amazing small plates Italian that has something for everyone. From the personal pizzettes to the buttermilk Panko fried chicken with Mac and cheese, it didn't fail to impress. Don't miss the hummus with jam, and the beef with tempura prawns. Affagato for an ending was perfect!
This place is so charming and has the absolute yummiest food. We were able to get 2 seats at the bar at around 615pm on a Friday night. Hard to decide on our favorites, since everything was so good! Really, really, honestly great food here! Open up a location in San Francisco!
Well this was just delightful. Super friendly welcome (of course it would be for Liverpool!). My bestie and I enjoyed a table at the bar which actually was much nicer than we expected. It's table service at the bar and tables so we didn't have people behind us shouting for drinks, I was spacious, well lit atmospheric and highly recommended. We didn't appreciate, nor did anyone explain, that its tapas style. So our 'starters' arrived at the same time as 'mains'. But it was great value, really nice buzz and just the perfect portion size that we could enjoy 3 courses and not leave feeling like we were ready to deliver a pasta baby. You definitely need to book at least a week if not two in advance!
Came for our anniversary meal and the food was so delicious and service was great. We recommend the black pudding with chicken livers and the harissa lamb ragu, the sea bas was also excellent. The only thing was that it felt a little cramped on a table of two during the busy hours with other couples very close to us on either side.
A great quality restaurant with beautiful food well presented. The small plates and tapas are excellent and make for great sharing options so you can sample more from the menu. The staff are very helpful and accommodating especially a young lady called Faye. Would definitely visit again when in Liverpool.
We stumbled upon Bacaro on a Thursday evening in January. We walked in around 8pm and even though the place was packed they were able to accommodate us at the bar.
We started with a couple of drinks, I opted for the Aperol Bourbon sour which was a sweet and interesting twist on a whisky sour which was a lovely palette cleanse before our meal. My girlfriend opted for a glass of Prosecco. Both were delivered quickly by the friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us and to help us with the menu.
I started with the burrata and Arancini, both were out of this world. I LOVE Arancini and consider myself a bit of a connoisseur and the roast pepper and harissa was amazing. The Buratta came with black olive chimichurri which really complimented the creaminess.
For my main I was recommended the Pan Roast Hake which was melt in the mouth.
My partner is gluten free and they had an entire gluten free menu. She opted for the Beef Carpaccio, followed by the Carbonara Pizzette and the GF prawn pasta that came with fresh, meaty king prawns. In truth she ordered too much (I helped her out!) but the pizzette was delicious especially considering it was gluten free. The egg mixed with caramelised red onion was great.
We finished off with a couple of mojitos to neutralise the garlic.
All in all it was a brilliant dining experience in an area that is actually pretty touristy being only a stones throw from The Cavern.
The price was fair for the quality and if you were on a budget you could definitely order less and still walk away with full bellies and semi full wallets.
Would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What can i say, 5* ! We had more then the dishes in the photos and everything was mouthwatering, absolutely fantastic, and the service was great :). Shame we live in London and can't come here again next week.
Definitely recommend this !

My favourite Liverpool restaurant. Would highly recommend the goats cheese pearls and the lasagna :) The Hugo Spritze cocktail is delicious.
Immense food. The Ragu was exceptional, pork belly sublime and the fennel salami was just melt in the mouth with subtle flavours.
The only dish that wasn't amazing was the prawn linguine, but that might more be a reflection on the power of the other dishes.
Ice cream used in the Affogato had the most amazing texture.
Service was also super attentive.
Lovely small restaurant, great food love the theme bring to the table, order a bit more, will be coming everytime im down in Liverpool. Crostini and Octopus was a real highlight for me however all our dishes were amazing, great fast service too.
This is my first time eating at this Italian restaurant. It was so delicious that I ate here all the time I was in Liverpool. You guys have to try Bacaro’s pizza, especially the one I ordered (sorry I forgot the name) but it was super delicious! The fried seafood and scallops were very fresh, tasty and sweet. For the pasta portion, we must try the crab pasta which is full of flavor and the lamb pasta which goes well with wine. Their cocktails are very good and balanced. This is a restaurant that can be visited alone or with friends. This restaurant is amazing!
Always great food, wine and service.
Been here multiple times and even when busy the service and food is always great.
Staff are always friendly and attentive. Last time we went in our waitress was from Bermuda and was very friendly and polite.
Will be back for another visit soon 🙂
