We had a great afternoon at the Red Lion yesterday to celebrate Harry's birthday. Great wee pub, very dog friendly - Glory loved it in front of the stove - and the beer was in tip top condition. We got there mid-afternoon and even though the kitchen was unexpectedly shut, Jeanne made us sandwiches and chips so we didn't go hungry! All round great. Thank you :)
Fantastic pub. Been there a few times but eaten there the last 2 nights. Food is a notch above. Nice beer and really friendly place. We’ll be back very soon
Really friendly atmosphere hosted by Humphrey the dog ... log fire, good beer and excellent food. A definite for those who enjoy the best of everything.
First visit and definitely not the last. The welcome was warm and friendly (& dog friendly). The place is beautiful and lots of people making the most of the sunshine sitting outside on the front lawn eating and drinking. We were a party of four + two dogs and we were all more than satisfied with out lunch. I had the special, which definitely was. Sea Bass with crushed new pits and chefs special tomato sauce which was Devine. Most definitely recommend.
Great food and service. Fabulous sandwich menu. Very dog friendly too. Highly recommended.
Best pub in the Peak District.
Great food, excellent beer and a warm welcome.
Who could ask for more. Food is very high standard.
A gorgeous little country pub with great food and atmosphere set in an idilic setting xxx
Love this pub beautiful building , friendly staff , lovely food & situated in one of my all time favourite villages in the Derbyshire Peak District
Had a great weekend here last week. Lovely room, fabulous food, friendly landlady and staff (and of course Humphrey!). We'll definitely be back
Very homely atmosphere, cosy and warm with all the fires going. Great food and friendly staff. Live music and games. My husband wishes he could live there :-)
Always great food , drinks and a fantastic cozy atmosphere
Great friendly local and amazing atmosphere. Cosy in winter with fires going and great In summer when tables outside. Abbeydale absolution a great beer.
Took my wife, dog and 83 year old dad today. Food and service (and beer) was first (first) class. Many thanks.
A great local with good beers and food, and a friendly landlady
Visit to the Peak District and this was our favourite meal. I had the pork, my partner had the pie. Both perfect. Lovely atmosphere, great service and two gorgeous dogs who live in the pub too!
Staying nearby & booked in for my husbands birthday. We both had the steak & ale pie, & it was THE best pie we've ever had!! Good quality meat with no gristle or fatty bits in. The mash & seasonal veg that we had with it was also delicious. If you're staying in the area, I highly recommend you call in for a meal- but do book!
Perfect Village. Perfect Lunch. We will be back.
Bacon and Brie sandwich was perfectly presented and well cooked.
Hand Cut Chips were excellent. Couldn’t fault. Won’t be long before we are back at the Red Lion Inn, that’s for sure!
This is a cracking old school country pub in a stunning little village.
In the past 12 months I have had 3 separate breakaways staying nearby to Litton. Each trip has always involved a nice stroll up to the Red Lion for lunch on at least 2 days. Every time the food, the staff and the service has been excellent.
Whether sat indoors or out, it is a great place to have food and then sit back and relax with a beer or two.
Will definitely be back again on my next visit.
Went for dinner as staying in the village. Super friendly staff and good service. Proper pub food, tasty and good portions. A good selection of local ales on too. Nice little log burner going and lots of different areas to sit. Some seating outside on the little green to the front of the pub. Worth a visit.
Went back a second time and had the steak and ale pie… was great. Highly recommend.
A lovely historic old style pub with lots of nooks and crannies. Accommodated 4 people and 2 dogs no problem.
Selection of local ales were all sampled and were all great. had to try the Steak and Ale pie following all the other reviews and it's delicious
Waiting staff were efficient and friendly as was the landlord
Will definitely visit if in the area again
A beautiful old pub, with many books and crannies situated in a delightful village. There's some outdoor seating on the green in front. We had a meal of steak and ale pie with veg, which was extremely tasty and the steak was very tender. If I'm being ultra critical I would have liked a bit more veg, but I certainly didn't leave hungry. The sticky toffee pudding was also excellent. Probably most importantly the Ale was top notch and the pub has won Camra awards for the beer.
Such an amaizing place!! Full of wounderful people! I want to say a big thank you to the staff for looking after me over the Easter weekend 😁lovely food, beer and people! Great place! Had the burger 😋and the stake pie 🤤and the creme Brule 😍
Popped in on our walk round the locality. Managed to get a seat at the bar as it was Sunday lunch, which looked amazing but we did not partake as we were still an hour away from our destination. Service was quick and with a smile,m would like to go back and eat sometime.
Great country pub, super atmosphere, good ale, didn't eat but the food looked good with lots of empty plates heading back to the kitchen.
