Stopped on a whim, being a bit of a book addict. The truth is I never got as far as the books. I was distracted by the decor, those old apothecary’s drawers and cabinets. Then tea and tasty home made cake caught my attention. It’s worth mentioning that my companion is coeliac, and not only was her cake pronounced delicious, it was also cheaper. The final distraction was the conversation with some of the friendliest tea shop staff ever! By which time my ticket for the nearby car park had almost run out. So the books will have to wait until my next visit, which hopefully won’t be too long.
Lovely quaint coffee shop , recommend the cream tea, amazing homemade scones. Excellent food, atmosphere and hospitality . Thank you
Popped in following the snowdrop walk on a really sunny Sunday. Such a lovely place! Friendly, helpful staff, good coffee and the most delicious cake. Perfect.
Found this little gem today whilst out with a toddler and dog, we were all made very welcome. A lovely kids corner is located upstairs. The cake and scones are amazing and all reasonably priced. Definitely will return
A complete delight. Excellent coffee, charming and helpful staff, lovely ambiance. I didn't have any of the splendid-looking home-made cakes, but the tea bread was very good indeed. Intriguing, well priced book stock.
Lovely friendly little coffee/tea/book shop with seriously good homemade cake!
Friendly service, charming atmosphere excellent coffee and very tasty food!
Visited by chance and what a brilliant surprise. A shop full of curiosities, books and cake with the most charming of furnishings. Will definitely come back.
Fabulous scone jam & cream and tea...sorry about the mud
This is a wonderful Tea Shop in the village, run by a fabulously friendly couple and their very helpful team. The cakes are delicious and the book selection is great, and all set in a wonderful old building - what more could you want?
Kind & friendly folk, v welcoming and thoughtful to us and our baby and toddler! Thanks! X
Brilliant staff, brilliant coffee, brilliant cakes and a whole ton of books. Take the kids and spend some time reading with them.
Came here after walking round Walsingham Abbey with our little dog and it was such a pleasant surprise!!
The cafe is quaint and unique. We were lead upstairs to some tables and chairs and there was a sofa too, and bookshelves along the walls of all different genres. The atmosphere was so homely and welcoming, and everyone was really friendly and cheerful.
We loved the china teapots and saucers that our delicious English breakfast tea came with!! My mum had a crumble with homemade custard and said it was amazing - I tried the custard and it had cinnamon and nutmeg in... Absolutely incredible flavour!! I had gluten free teacake and butter and it was such a wonderful surprise to have this option. It tasted lovely. There were also gluten free crumpets on offer and a whole range of different homemade soups.
The food was quickly served after ordering, and they also brought some dog treats for our dog which was so sweet!
Thank you to the ladies who were cooking and serving the food - they were all incredibly friendly and smiley, and really made our day. Will 100% be back again to try some more of their homemade food. Can't recommend highly enough!
This place is such a gem. Sam and the staff were so lovely and the atmosphere is fab. The pump house pie was incredible and really filling...so will have to go back for dessert one day! Coffee was great too. Definitely 100% reccomend and I can't wait to go back.
I had a lovely time at the Read and Digest Tea Shop. The atmosphere was so inviting and everyone was really nice and cheerful. The decor in and outside the tea shop was gorgeous and really gives a proper English vibe to it. The town is so calm and full of history. The food and coffee was absolutely delicious and was so quickly served after I ordered. The owner, Sam, was beyond inviting and so sweet to talk to. Couldn’t recommend more!!!
Had the homemade lentil soup and one of the lovely warm honey and lemon scones for pud. Absolutely delicious. Staff very warm and friendly. Place is so quaint and eccentric. Full of things to look at and talk about. Prices decent too. Recommend.
What a beautifully quirky tearoom in an amazing location. The staff are very attentive, polite and you do not need a menu as they can describe each choice with aplomb. I can recommend the crustless quiche and the pot pie as both were exemplary. Furthermore, we were made to feel so welcome by the owner (apologies for not asking your name) who took the time to chat and top up our tea with hot water. All-in-all a wonderful place to stop on a bike ride.
Whenever we are in the area we make sure we stop off at Read and Digest for lunch or coffee and cake. Sam the owner is a lovely lady, always makes time for a chat and the home made food never fails to delight. We went today to celebrate our wedding anniversary and as ever we had a lovely time.
A quirky little place in the village of Little Walsingham ideal for a cup of tea on a cold winter's day. Best to book as the place is very popular. You will be greeted with a warm welcome. Food was all fresh and I would highly recommend this place. There is also parking close by albeit the sign was small and easy to miss.
Visited with my partner and her mum after a local walk and I’m so glad we did!
It felt like being in a friends front room! There was that lovely coffee smell, a bit of a Frank Sinatra sing along and a few good laughs! The two ladies who were working were brilliantly quirky, funny and kind and made sure that we were very well looked after. The food was really tasty and moreish - we had two varieties of quiche and a cheese scone, followed by 3 different cakes and coffees. Just really really good food. We even got a delightfully wrapped takeout sausage roll! Thank you kindly, you’ve added something special to our trip.
Warm, welcoming, delicious tea and treats. I had a nice light lunch and an indulgent dessert on a random afternoon exploring Walsingham. I love this spot and definitely see myself coming back. I love that it's dog friendly too!
Absolutely fantastic! We were treated so well, had a platter designed specifically for us, delicious tea, followed by really innovatively flavoured scones. The best lunch out I’ve had in ages. Highly recommended!
