Excellent country pub with great selection of beers by Greene King, and other drinks too including soft drinks. We dropped in mid-afternoon on a Sunday and it was extremely busy, but it was a pleasant day and we were able to sit outside in their beautiful courtyard area and order food and drinks at the bar.
There is ample seating, and I liked that there were different styles of seating outside, so rattan armchairs for drinkers, and more upright garden tables and chairs, and bistro sets for diners. We enjoyed the roast pork, and the beef burger which was excellent! I particularly enjoyed the beef brisket that comes within the burger, and melty cheese. The meat patty was exceptional and pink.
Staff were very friendly and helpful despite it being packed out for Sunday roasts!
It is a beautiful pub, dog friendly, and a good amount of parking. Booking recommended.

Great pub and restaurant. Well looked after characterful building, food top (including Sunday Roast), and service available and respectful. Enough staff on to not be rushed off their feet and forget to be courteous! Will be back. Plenty of space between tables. Felt like a more sophisticated dining experience. Expect to pay a little more these above average offerings!

The Lion and Lamb has long been a villiage pub, as I remember it more pub than restaurant the food was average and the place was looking tired.
The good news is that now it appears to be under new management and the new owners have invested in the place .
Place now looks clean, bright, and modern both inside out without losing that country pub rustic feel
Restaurant has great views of the Essex Countyside, the rear terrace would be a great place to eat alfresco, weather permitting.
The menu was varied and interesting with some great meals on offer
The 4 small plates and 4 mains we ordered were delicious, I would happily recommend the food to anyone, very, very nice

Great watering hole, good selection of drinks and food available. On my visit on a Friday early evening good atmosphere, service was quick, I didn't order food on this occasion but food orders looked good! Would recommend and will be revisiting in the near future.
Amazing food. They have options for gluten and dairy intolerances and the alternatives were amazing. My husband and I had a gluten free fish and chips, the fish was so big, soft and fresh and we didn't find any bones in it. Great, friendly environment and a lovely, cozy interior. Will definitely recommend to everyone and keep going back.
Sat in the outside terraced area as it was a nice day. Surrounding view was beautiful.
We had a Sunday roast. Yorkshire pudding was amazing as was all the meal. We ordered the side of cauliflower cheese which was delicious! My only complaint would be that I would like to have had more greens on my plate.
Our waitress Emily was very attentive and efficient. Overall an enjoyable experience
Lovely pub, great service, food and drink. Something for everyone with charming old school bar/pub plus spacious added more recently. Round it up with a large deck of outdoor seating. Great for the whole family. Food selection very nice. I needed a spot to wait a few hours for a meetup after arriving at Stansted Airport and found these folks very accommodating and pleasant. Highly recommend. 10 min taxi ride from the airport.
Food was so tasty, served very hot and quickly. We were worried that we would get a bit if a ropey meal as we ordered just as the kitchen was about to close but were pleasantly surprised with the usual high standard meal so late in the afternoon.
Food was amazing, hot and well-presented.
Lots of choice, may be too much choice but we (2) had 5 starters and plenty to eat and share. Decor is tasteful, roomy, light and comfortable.
