Just got back from my partners birthday meal and cant highly recommend this place enough. the 4th time we have been here in a matter of months. today there was a table of 14 + 1 highchair and everything was perfect from the service to the food. Partner had the 20oz steak as usual. we all had different meals and all came out in perfect time. When I booked the table they were happy for us to take our own cake in which they put away for us until we were ready and bought it out to us with candles on and even the waiter sang happy birthday. Our waiter was a young man called GUERSON I think that's how its spelt. He was brilliant and very polite. I even filled out a feedback form in the pub which I never do normally when we go out. I would recommend this pub to anyone who wants to go out for a nice family meal.
The outside could look better and cleaner but inside its lovely and staff are great. Thank you to everyone tonight who made us feel welcomed and relax. We will be back shortly once we have burnt all the lovely food off :) x

Well after listening to all your comments about this pub I have to disagree, for me and my family this has been a great pub and the staff have been excellent ,what do you expect for the money that you pay, it's very good for what you get plus they provide entertainment now and again ,which is somewhere where we can all meet up ,and be entertained, plus have good service and great food for the price you pay And in the summer months what a great pub it is.
I've been going here for about 5 years and can't understand all the bad reviews, I think it changed management a little while back and just after I remember a bit of a dip. This is some of the nicest food, for this type of restaurant I've ever had, I don't think I've ever had anything that's been bad. The staff are great in my opinion too. I've been to other harvesters, and hungry horses elsewhere and none are as good as this one, by a mile!!
I don't often leave reviews, but in light of the bad ones I've seen; I felt I had to. The food exceeded my expectations. I have paid twice as much for steak which has been half as good as what I've had here. The food came to the table piping hot and freshly prepared. We will DEFINITELY be returning. I can't rate the place highly enough. OK the decor wasn't the best I've seen, but I came for a hearty meal and that's what I got.

Had lunch here on the weekend with the family and have to say it was outstanding value for money. In the current environment with restaurants charging eye-watering prices to keep with inflation it was so refreshing to get great food at a very reasonable price. The service was top notch as well and the atmosphere was clean and pleasant. Looking forward to the next visit as everything on the menu looked so good!

My girlfriend and I come here regularly. The food is delicious, (I would heavily recommend the chicken and smoked bacon baguette) the staff are lovely and the service is usually very quick. Overall, it’s a lovely place to eat at any time of the day!
Always love it here.Great place to bring the family. We are a family of 6, so coming somewhere that's value for money is key for us. Nice to see some new faces working here. Katie was great ,friendly and efficient. Nice to have our table cleared as we finish the course.
This pub has really raised its game! Food is great and a much better environment these days. Really glad we came back. I’m guessing that’s down to the Team there now. Martin one of the waiters is super helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely return. Thanks everyone at The Royal Anchor! ❤️
Basic pub food, pretty well cooked. Large portions and low prices. Does what it sets out to do very well. Building is nice, and fantastic beer garden. Shout out to Bex today who was excellent.
It was a busy quiz night when we went. A little confusion about whether we could have the door open. We were told we could by the lovely lady that seated us but then someone else said we couldn't. Hector was the only person behind the bar and was polite and friendly, although he did have a few people waiting, he did his best to get us our drinks quickly and was friendly. Food was good, although the puddings came out in a tub as they didn't have the glasses to serve it. Some of the chocolate was dropped on the floor as it was brought to us which seemed to go unnoticed due to the hurried service. It was pointed out that the kitchen had closed but they still would do dessert (a little after 9pm). I don't think he meant to be rude, but it came across a little standoffish. Overall, I would come again for a casual meal.
First visit and very pleasantly surprised. Very extensive menu, very affordable price and a blooming good chef it would seem. Table of 6 with different meals all extremely happy and service was quick. Food was hot, well presented and very tasty.
I come to the royal anchor all the time especially on wine Wednesdays, the highlight of my experience is always being served by Jess, she is an absolute asset to the team and business with a bright future ahead of herself.
5 stars across the board. lovely pub however the stars are gained by this one bar staff in particular, she goes by the name jess and she truly brightens my wine wednesdays up. immaculate service (always with a touching smile). without jess i wouldn’t go to this pub she puts the royal in the royal anchor. my queen 👸🏿.
Always come in and see Becks, Jess and Paul. All amazing service and people. From front of house service with becks and Jess being smashing always smiling and laughing and joking whilst ordering to Pauls cooking is amazing food always is good and never leave anything. My favourite pub as the service is just smashing
Amazing atmosphere and friendly staff nothing seems to be to much and they are fast to serve the car parking is always available and clearly signed to get you to pop reg into easy to use computer! Will definitely recommend and use many more times oh and prices are very reasonable.

Popped in for a quick dinner after work. Staff were friendly, food was brought out quickly. Portions were generous, prices were great in comparison to others. It’s not a la carte but if you want quick cheap and cheerful with friendly staff, so you don’t have to cook or clean up, then it’s perfect!
Clean and friendly, welcoming bar staff. Food was cooked excellently and very reasonably priced. We ordered steak and chips and some nice burgers Would definitely visit again.
Fantastic service staff are friendly and welcoming, food was fantastic and nice size portion, cooked well and hot , table was clean tidy, really enjoyed it all ,
We had gammon, chicken burger and onion rings. Lovely. Our waitress Mo was outstanding. Sat outside with our two dogs and she brought them treats. Excellent value and will rerurn soon.
