Here is a nice cafe/bistro on the banks of the Union Canal a couple of miles from Linlithgow. We stopped of for a coffee and cake, not long after opening time, when out cycling. As such we were the only customers hence only 3 stars for atmosphere as we only had ourselves for company 😕😅 Service was very good and friendly and coffee and cake was good. There are several picnic type tables outside along with a couple of unusual pods that have to be pre booked. Dog and kid friendly.

Gorgeous location on the canal. Big selection of drinks from coffee to alcohol. Delicious lunch or snacks available, very tasty cakes. Lovely, welcoming staff. Book a pod for a real treat. Nothing to dislike.

Absolutely lovely restaurant. Decor is so modern yet homely. Staff are friendly. Nice menu variety. Gluten free options for breakfast and sandwiches. Good value for money. Dogs are welcome. Outside seating area on the canal so your able to watch the boats coming by. Near the park so perfect for before or after your walk for a cuppa.

A further return visit on Sunday to this fabulous venue. A great place to visit at anytime but ideal if you are walking/cycling along the canal. Food is always delicious and staff so friendly. Great coffee too. Local artists' work on view and for sale. This is a gem of a place.......and I'll be back again!

Tried this place for the first time on 19/08. Sat out in one of the PODs. 4 of us sat comfortably. Excellent place. Food was amazing and the staff were really nice. Beautiful surroundings too. Cant wait to go back.

Lovely spot situated by the Union Canal. We booked a table for our party of four. The menu has a nice selection and the food is tasty and good quality. Soup and a sandwich option was delicious, sandwiches big enough to share. There are outdoor pods, which can be booked, looks like fun in the better weather. The staff here are friendly and helpful which adds to a positive experience.

We walked here along the canal and over the Aqueduct from Linlithgow for a very pleasant light lunch before returning via the Avon path. The cafe is light and airy, the staff were friendly. The menu is varied but not extensive. The prices are reasonable and the place was very clean. Our soup and shared sandwich were delicious. The Ginger beer was very refreshing as the day had warmed up considerably.

Had a nice time here. Next to the canal so you can walk here if you like long walks. Free parking and decent staff. Soup was good and not over salted. Sandwich was with decent quality bread and filling was good. Nice coffee and nice place, worth a visit. Pretty relaxed and they have seating outside for summer. Not too expensive and has free WiFi as well.

Fantastic breakfasts and lovely staff in a great location. They have a nice outdoor area for when it's sunny and a wee wood burning stove inside for when its cold :)

Fresh filled rolls and cappucinos for brunch sitting outside in the sun on the peaceful terrace overlooking canal with very friendly swans. A good Friday right enough.

Really nice spot! We went in only for drinks and I enjoyed that they offered cola in glass bottles. Staff was friendly and welcoming, will come back here with the next occasion!

Beautiful wee cafe by the canal. Very spacious inside and has outdoor seating too (which you can sit at with your dog). They also have pods outside that must be booked in advance. There are baby changing facilities and a disabled toilet. The cafe is all on one level and there is a lot of space between the tables to allow wheelchair / buggy access. Food was delicious, cannot fault it. All in all a lovely cafe.

Bridge 49 is a nice cafe if you’re looking for a decent quality breakfast when about and about with the family. Beautiful location by the canal and you can even pre book one of their outside dining pods for later in the day! Full breakfast is very well cooked and decent for the price. Proper poached eggs that are fresh, black pudding and haggis that isn’t greasy, and overall really tasty and hot when served. Only giving 4 stars because I was given the vegetarian sausages by mistake, but the waitress wasn’t convinced and initially insisted they were normal. Had to speak to the front of house and chef before getting the real ones and acknowledged their mistake. If you order water, would advice you ask for a large glass as the ones served are very small but the coffee is very nice all round and they normally serve fresh cakes and treats at the counter to take away.
