Cyprium Bar and Grill

Date of Visit: 25.08.17
Time: 8.30pm

Booking Process: Was relatively easy but when we went 15mins early we were told to come back although there was space, then told as long as we don’t mind waiting a little as a big group just came in, which was fine so then we got seated.

Location: Within the ground floor, Racecourse Road | Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Lingfield RH7 6PQ, England

Decor & Lighting: Nothing special i am afraid but split into two areas and there does seem to be a private dining room which is closed and seems to be set up as some sort of strange display, they could have done a better job here.

Ambience & Acoustics: The section we were in was furthest from the Kitchen and seems like a better spot as you can hear your guests and have a normal conversation

Drinks:  a full bar but no cocktails or mock-tails so little disappointing as used to a much wider selection. However when i asked for a virgin daiquiri with some citrus flavour this was made specially so never be scared to ask.

We had the following:

Please note the menu is different slightly from the one on the Marriott website.

Soup of the day - Broccoli and mushroom - This was great and loved the taste

Steak - comes with fries and mushroom and also had the peppercorn sauce

Food: Overall happy with the food and good sized portions, i did ask for well done steak and normally you get the option of butterfly to ensure fully well done but this was not offered so it was a little pink in places but still it tasted great so no complaints but it is something they may need to look at.

Desert: Had the passion fruit and lemon cheese cake, not sure if this is made on-site and tasted a little rich and heavy on the passion fruit topping so bit zesty and overpowering.

Bill / Cost: Cost is fair given the quality and portion size and would rate it as a fair price as hotels usually add a premium anyway.

Conclusion: I would recommend for anyone staying who wants to just relax and have a nice meal, there are also places by car not to far also listed on the Marriott website should you be staying for longer but you will have to drive or get a cab. They could improve certain aspects. Bear in mind the menu selection is not large and limited vegetarian options but the food is much better than the bar menu which is more extensive but not on the same level.

Lively space with open access to view passing race horses. Main public social space of the Marriott hotel so both food and service very good.
