Decided to come for a roast to celebrate our 5 year anniversary in the Lakes, we were silly and didn’t book which we should’ve done but luckily they could squeeze us in and the food was incredible. Extremely generous portions, only £23.95 for three courses which is very reasonable and the service was excellent. We will definitely be returning next time we come to the Lakes, thank you so much for a lovely lunch!
Enormous portion of Sunday Roast, cooked to perfect. Exceeded our highest expectations. The lemon posset was the best I've had, the spiced pineapple and home made cookies took the dessert to another level- do try to leave a bit of room after the roast, it's worth it! Staff were super friendly and amazingly attentive despite being run off their feet.
Recommended to book the Sunday roast to avoid devastation, they run out quick (and for good reason!).
Good food wife had a couple of issues with service but fair play to staff was sorted in the end. It was a quiet time on a Sunday afternoon so atmosphere I guess reflected that I would have no issues returning if in area again
Friendly efficient staff, food standard pub food. 2 down sides, firstly lack of ale choice, both blonde and citrus, not to our taste, also dogs are allowed everywhere in the pub so not great if you have pet allergies.
Had a decent dinner Monday and was spot on. Food was massively worth the money and a really lush and cosy pub. Brilliant service 👌
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. 😋 We had the mushrooms to start and the Thai curry. All fresh ingredients, nicely presented and large portions. 👌 Jade took care of us today and glad to know The Royal Oak is open 7 days a week. Fantastic chef 👨🍳 hats off to you!! Tried the lamb pie and fish and chips at this place as mains and also we thought that we ordered mushroom soup where we got a mushroom sandwich of sort, and boy it was great. The portions where so big that I could not finish my food. Great staff, great vibes and great food.

I was a bit worried reading some of the reviews. People were giving only 1 star for their meals. As we are holidaying in Lindale this is the local pub. Dad and myself had popped in to look at the menu and saw they had a "Red hot September offer ". Spend £50 on food menu and get £10 off. We decided to risk it and hope that our meal would be an improvement on the reviews we'd read about We needn't have worried. Adam made us feel right at home and attended to our every need. We ordered a starter to share. Hot chicken wings. They arrived and were delicious. 5 pieces in crispy crumb with bbq sauce and a lovely drizzled salad. So far so good 👍 Next arrived our 12 ounce rump steaks, beef steak chips, tomatoes mushrooms and salad. The steak was absolutely melt in the mouth. Cooked to perfection, just the right amount of seasoning and importantly cooked exactly to our personal specifications. Coupled with the well kept real ale 🍺 we were very happy indeed. And to top it off we availed ourself of the offer so a huge meal for a low price. Would highly recommend. It definitely deserves 5 stars for all aspects of our visit
Undergoing management change and installation of new kitchen- hence 4 stars. Look forward to revisiting when it's fully up and running once more. Great for a drink though and great location.
We had planned for a light lunch, but that went out the window! Great food, and friendly service from Andrew, the landlord. Our daughter had the chicken off the kids menu, which we thought was a bargain for the size of the portion at 6.95.
I had the Royal Burger, which was delicious. 2 really good sized parties, thick beef burgers. My wife has the Hunters Chicken burger and we shared some Squid from the starters.
Safe to say, we didn't need the Squid! But it was delicious. The portion sizes were excellent and we felt it was excellent value for money. We visit the lakes a few times throughout the year, and it's great to have this near where we stay.
Went here for my wife's birthday, and it was perfect. The food is amazing - the best pub meal around. Between the party we had the steak pie, the beef dinner, and the Cumberland sausage. The food was absolutely gorgeous, and the helpings were gargantuan! We've had their fish and chips in the past, and that was really nice too - the fish was as big as the entire plate, lol. The staff were really friendly and attentive, couldn't fault them one bit. We will be back.
Quality food, friendly service - we had a lovely meal at this popular cosy pub. I recommend booking in advance as we had to squeeze in for an early dinner, but the manager was very accommodating, was lovely with our kids and we had a tasty, hearty meal! Great location for us too as we were staying close by at HPB Merlewood. We will be back for sure.
We had a lovely time at the Royal Oak. The owner was very friendly and made us feel at home. The roast was very tasty and a very generous portion! They were also able to accommodate a nut allergy. Highly recommend- we’d come here again.
