Just had a fabulous Sunday lunch thank you to Mark and Jo the beef was delicious
Darren at The Black Horse made our weekend! We had such a laugh! This is not a gourmet bar, but if you want proper northern hospitality, this is your place! (Not sure why it says permanently closed on FB page as it us very definitely open!)
Reasonably priced food. Old style village pub therefore disabled access non existent. Needed much help on crutches up and down stairs.
Cheapest pub in the area, friendly locals and great pub.
Today, for the first time, we visited for sunday lunch and we were very impressed 👍 The pub itself is lovely, rustic & cosy. The bar area is full of large sofas with a very relaxed feel. The restaurant has gorgeous low beams and we had a large table to accommodate 9 of us with plenty of room. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we ordered roast dinners all round and the food was great, very fresh, great range of good & not overcooked vegetables and a good amount of meat 👌 The place is also dog friendly, including the restaurant, which was fantastic.
The beer garden & patio is large and altho the sun wasn't shining today....i imagine it to be the perfect place to have a beer when the suns out. We will, without a doubt, be back again soon 👏🥰
Stumbled across this place purely by accident so popped in for a quick one to find the most happy and helpful landlady and staff. Made me extremely welcome as did the cliente. Great little pub with amazing atmosphere. Highly recommended
We had Sunday lunch on Mothers days and the food and service was exceptionally good and great value for money. We had our two year old son with us and we were made to feel very welcome. Great food and lovely hosts. We will be back soon.
Recently this pub has been taken over and although I had never been before I can honestly say that this pub is lovely. Had a meal there for my birthday and the staff were lovely and helpful. Meal was gorgeous. Had the Lasagne and couldn't find a fault (unusual for me) Well worth a visit :)
Really friendly pub. Hadn't been there for probably 30 years but was on the way back from a day out and decided to pop in. Friendly couple running it and the locals were happy to chat. Menu looks simple but good.. Will come back to try it
Went for Saturday evening meal 29th August. Lovely meal and a really friendly pub. Made us si welcome. Excellent.
Food was excellent, a lovely friendly pub.
A real English pub with the friendliest land lady you will ever wish to find and her home made meals are superb
We recommend the steak also the steak and ale pie
We spent some brilliant evenings there.... our only regret is that we live so far away
