Late birthday visit with my friend.
I can only say amazing things. I made a mistake in the reservation, but the assistant manager, Ellie, was incredibly accommodating and understanding. She was able to change it all around with no pressure or awkwardness put us on.
We dined on a fantastic scotch egg starter, alongside the salmon. Following that, we both had steak and was in love. My friend wasn't a big steak person, so this was his first 'proper' steak. He was left very satisfied.
It's in a very convenient location but with a fantastic view. Even more ideal if you're staying in the Hilton!
The dessert of, sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream (which my friend was able to swap out, awesome!) was to die for. And the sorbet scoops were the perfect way to end the meal.
I haven’t reviewed anywhere in quite a while but I feel there is a fair amount of discourse about the quality of MPW Lincoln.
From my personal experience, I was pleased, if you’ve got the cash in your pocket I think it’s definitely a viable option definitely if you’re wanting a steak.
I opted for the goats cheese salad that is seemingly very popular and the steak au poivre.
The goats cheese salad was very light and tasty. It was only 3 main things, candied walnut, beetroot and goats cheese. Simple and actually very nice, earthy beetroot with quite a creamy goats cheese. Offset with the walnut, the sweetness was a really nice addition.
The steak - about as good as you can get, medium rare fillet with some lovely mushrooms which came together really well in the peppercorn sauce. I couldn’t get the sourdough with a knife and fork so just had to go in with my fingers, and admittedly it was very nice, I would’ve had no objection to a tomato on my plate but it is no deal breaker. I think both dishes were made of classic elements executed very well and for that I am absolutely pleased.
Though there is a couple of counters which may be deal breakers for many, justifiably so. Portion and price, even with a starter unless you’re going for all 3 courses, it isn’t enough food if you’re hungry. And a stinger the massive price, whatever you anticipate to pay you will undershoot. I found it very easy to add massive extras to the bill.. sit down and accidentally spend £5.50 on water when they ask “do you want water” and then a weird encouragement to add extras to the already exorbitantly expensive mains. I went with another person, we both had water, I had a starter and they didn’t.. £75! Admittedly you can waive the service fee but it can often feel wrong especially when service really is quite good and they’re very attentive. But if you want to spend big it is definitely highly enjoyable in my mind.
Staff undeniably very attentive, I hear mixed reviews of this but in my visit they were very good.
Overall. Impressively enough I don’t feel ripped off, undeniably it was massively expensive and you can feel a bit silly paying hand over fist but it is massively pleasurable and despite being undersized the cooking and ingredient are top end, at least in Lincoln.
Would I recommend? Yes. Under the condition that if you fully commit to a 3 course meal.. even if you share a bottle of water it’s around £50pp+. Definitely get a steak, obviously I haven’t tried the entire menu but to me the burgers looked a little sad and I think everything else didn’t sound hugely enticing. It’s a steak house and they definitely know how to cook a steak.
I liked the venue too, nice place and the electric bar is nice to stop in as well. Being high up is not as exciting as it may look but I like it.
I think I will go again.
Can recommend a really affordable Sunday lunch here. 2 dining with drinks for around £25 per head. Was very quiet when we visited as we were the only ones seated, which on our occasion was actually a nice change to be able to take is the amazing Lincoln skyline.
A beautiful bar, as soon as we got out of the lift, after doing the NHS track & trace we were shown to our table, and given a complimentary glass of fizz. The staff were very attentive and made us feel really welcome. The atmosphere was very relaxing and it was lovely to see the views of Brayford Wharf. Definitely worth a visit, the prices were decent too.
My mother and I had a lovely afternoon having afternoon tea earlier this week. We were using a voucher that was purchased as a mother's day's gift. I cannot fault the service or the quality of food and the staff were fantastic. The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars for atmosphere was due to the fact that we were sat in the restaurant on our own as there was no guests in the restaurant. This was no ones fault and did not affect our time there. Would definetly recommend!
This is such a nice restaurant to visit! Food was to die for, definitely worth the money. The staff we encountered we're really friendly and helpful. The setting is lovely overlooking a sort of man made marina and, as it's on the top floor, you get an incredible view. We were a little confused as to how to find it, you just go in to the Hiton Reception, get in the lift and its signposted from there but is top floor and to the left when you come out. Will definitely be returning.
We came for lunch today and it was a nice experience, the staff were so attentive and kind - especially to my child who is very chatty! The starter was lovely and so tasty, main was nice, not a huge fan of the potatoes but the meat was nice and a good selection of vegetables too. Dessert was incredible.. the best part of my meal, get the chocolate mousse if you can! They did not have the drinks we ordered however did get us good replacements. Nice location and atmosphere.
Inside everything looks pretty good like the restaurant on high standard, but sadly food quality is really bad. They need to replace the chef or stop serving frozen food. I already paid 60£ for afternoon tea, french soup, squid rings and beetroot salad, but it's doesn't feel like 60, I would say 20 max
We went here for our second wedding anniversary. We had a lovely window table over looking Lincoln. The food was fantastic, and the presentation was wondering. The staff put together a fabulous dessert for us both which was a lovely surprise - it was very kind and thoughtful. Definitely recommend this place, the food is fab!
Our server, jon was quite literally the best server a man could ask for, he was funny genuinely cared about our requests and for our meal, made us have a good laugh, the food was absolutely beautiful, definitely would recommend, its a little expensive, but definitely worth it's money and more, Jon definitely deserves a raise ❤️
Ive been coming here quite a lot over the last 18 months. Both for pleasure and business. Excellent front of house, well met and good welcome. Met at restaurant and led to seats. Bread and olives taken. Not massively impressed with the bread, it was fine but it is not VFM at £5 a pop! It needs a varied selection and more butter for the table.
I normally go for a starter, ive tried moat of them now, squid is standard fare, but the scotch egg is the one to go for! Superb. I recently had the chicken and it was delightful. Presentation was good but the range of flavours was exquisite. Yes i am usinge exquisite to describe chicken! I have tried most of the steaks, but most recent visit was for thw large 16oz rump. The Steak was excellent. Cooked to perfection. The Chips very good as well.. Creamed spinach and onion rings were nice. These were the first onion rings in an age where the membrane had been removed prior to frying, little touches stand out.
Oh the olives were delicious. But again I can't recommend them at 5 quid a pop.
Overall though delicious food. Great service. Definitely a place to go for a decent steak in Lincoln.
