Great food, shame about the housekeeping. The food here is lovely and so are the bar staff but The Red Lion was woefully in need of a bit of TLC last time we visited. No exactly sticky, but at the risk of sounding like Hyacinth Bucket it could definitely do with a good tidy up, nothing that a good DIY man couldn't handle.

Having said that, the pub itself is charming, the food (especially Sunday lunch) is really, really good and, if you're a bit more laid back than me about the slightly neglected exterior and wonky bog seat, you would have absolutely nothing to complain about here.

A fair few people in, but plenty of spacing between tables means it doesn't feel crowded, just a really nice atmosphere. Service was superb. I had: Crispy beef with cashews, served with an unbelievably thick, sticky, sweet sauce with Chile to give it heat. With a side of onion rings (see pics). Delicious. Sausage and mash - three large, tasty, juicy sausages of the best quality I've had in years. Tiramisu with a coffee ice-cream and a rich chocolate sauce. Not cheap, but very good value for money. A wonderful place.

I was really impressed with our first visit to The Red Lion. Atmosphere was very nice, service was excellent and a good menu, and very tasty food well presented. Only slight drawback was the toilets are upstairs. Plenty of car parking and outside seating and gardens too. All round pleasent experience.

Lovely pub/resturant. Staff were attentive & excellent in their service. The resturant has several different areas inside to sit & the outside seating area is spacious & clean. The terrace is lovely to eat on a sunny evening. Picnic tables are available on the grass with a small play area. The resturant can be booked online - the outside terrace tables cannot be booked.

Pleasantly surprised! Lovely location, decor and ambience. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. My only gripe, was the cutlery…I had the pollock served in a chowder, but wasn’t offered a spoon! We then had desert, and a fork would have been beneficial, as I was trying to cut an apple tart. My husbands knife was flimsy! Minor points I know.

Today another good meal at this pub had Boar pie which came with mash potatoe and sweet potatoes nice thick gravy the service is just right and timely placed by our server Beth The place is always busy so best to book in advance so not to be disappointed Few bottled beers to choose from but good selection on the pulls from traditional to guest beers I thought. So if you cannot get in for food just a nice place to go and have a drink with a nice out side space nice well kept lawn area with plenty of seating and tables.Enjoy.

What a brilliant place to eat. The service was attentive, but not overbearing and there was a good menu with some options I hadn’t seen before. The food was very good and the atmosphere in the restaurant warm and relaxed.

I can’t remember the last time I had food here hence why I’ve not rated the food. Have popped in here for a couple drinks while meeting friends and I’ve never encountered any problems. Seen to straight away and served very quickly. This is a beautiful place within a countryside setting. Family friendly and dog friendly. This place is definitely worth a visit!!

Lovely Gastropub. I had a meal with close friends on my first visit and it certainly won't be the last. The venue is nice and the music is not loud so you can have a nice conversation while you eat and the staff are all really friendly and polite.

We really enjoyed ourselves, including our dog, who loved people watching. They were incredibly busy, but all the staff handled it amazingly, and all of them, to an individual, were attentive, knowledgeable, polite, and eager to ensure we enjoyed our meal. My dietary requirements were handled incredibly well, without the usual fuss, or presentation of the "allergen binder" - instead the staff knew what was in the dish, but also double checked with the chef to make sure. They were able to cook the same meal for me, as everyone else - just without the bits I couldn't eat
