This is my friends local (because he's extremely lazy and lives right opposite) so I drink in there a fair bit. Its a really nice friendly pub and ideal for large groups. The staff are really friendly and won't tolerate any riff-raff which is always nice to know. The Harvey's is well kept and they have plenty of lagers on tap too. I only had a ham sandwich here but it was served on nice thick crusty bread and was jolly enjoyable. The menu looked fantastic so I'm definitely going to try their roast next time I go back. Great pub!

My husband has got terminal illness. Yesterday our son and I with the dog decided to go for a roast dinner. We arrived by a taxi and because of my husband's health condition, he really is struggle to walk. The waiter and the waitress were really helpful opened the door wide and help me lead our dog so my son and I could assist my husband. The waiter even change the stool to a arm chair for my husband so he could sit more comfortable and safe. Cant thankyou any more. The pub and the dinner area is very clean and tidy. The roast dinner sirloin was really good too. Very tender and juicy.

My girlfriend and I stayed here a few nights over the summer and we had a pleasant time. Declan and his staff are very welcoming and accommodating. We would definitely come back.

The room was lovely, clean and had everything you needed. Staff where nice. I would recommend this place as we had a great stay. And the view from the window was lovely as you could see Lewes castle and at night the lights on the castle.

Nice historical pub to the south of High street. Suntrap split garden with views up to the castle. Good portion sizes on lunchtime menu. 3 cask ales including two from local breweries on our visit.

Best pub Sunday roast I've had at a pub. Really good sous vide sirloin steak roast with perfectly crispy roast potatoes, tenderstem broccoli and carrots. The puddings were also great, delicious Eton Mess! Good selection of beers too.

Every time I travel to Lewes, I automatically check to see if the King's Head has any rooms, the rooms are spotless, the staff are great helpful and friendly , the pub itself is lovely, set in a quiet street with lots of character, pièce de résistance, the food, The different burgers are a must....cannot reccomend this place enough

This was the best Sunday roast we've had in a pub for a very long time. We came to the Kings Head with family on New Years day to enjoy a roast dinner and found the quality of the food to be superb and the service extremely friendly, helpful and speedy. Between us we tried all the different roast option (chicken, pork belly, beef and nut roast) and all were fabulously tasty. There was plenty of veg and delicious gravy plus pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. The staff catered to some of our "off-menu" request really well and looked after our family with great attention. Can't wait to come back to try the burgers next time!

The King's Head pub in Lewes is an absolute delight since the new landlord took over! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was top-notch - Some of the best I've ever had. The portion size was generous and my friends also raved about their meals. The drinks selection was impressive, with a wide range of local and international beers, wines, and spirits to choose from. The pub also had a nice selection of non-alcoholic options, which is always a plus. Overall, The King's Head is a fantastic pub that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lewes. It's become the most perfect pub due its recent reboot. I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious food and drinks! 5 stars!

Visited The Kings Head for a few beers and food before heading over to see Lewes FC play. Good selection of beers, tasty burger and also managed to get a game of toads in…. That I lost 😞

We recently visited the King's head for dinner for the first time since the new landlord took over. The pub now has a quite cosy atmosphere with lot of nooks and crannies to get comfortable. The burgers tasted fantastic and were well priced. The server was also particularly friendly and accommodating. The only thing that brings it down from a 5 to a 4 for me was the beer selection. It is great that Harvey's is available but it would be nice to see a bit more variety/few more ales on tap (there is one tap unused at the moment so hopefully that will be used in the future). However that is a small quibble and I would heartily recommend giving the pub a go to anyone in Lewes. Update Jan 2023 - I have upped my review to five stars as the landlord has increased the amount of taps on offer. Great pub!

Amazing vegan roast! Best pub roast I’ve had, including those I had before the veganism! They do the same menu at the Royal Oak now too, might be easier to get a table there.

Fantastic Sunday roast - got a table for six at the last minute when lots of other places in town full. Great roast (pork belly with delicious crackling, sous vide beef!) came quickly and catered for gluten free.

I have been wanting to try the New Kings Head for a while. I am not a pub person so to speak. We came in and the food was really very good. The service was very friendly and welcoming which is very refreshing. I say great job and a welcome addition to the Lewes scene.

This pub has enjoyed a thoroughly successful reboot in my opinion (late 2022). Great service, easy to find a table for drinking or eating without worrying about reservations, practical menu, and a useful selection of drinks below the town's highest pub prices. I'll be back.

We were sent here from their sister branch The Black Horse (which was fully booked for Sunday lunch). Being their first Sunday since re-opening it was packed, but worth the wait for the delicious Sunday roast - great veggie option, amazing gravy and friendly staff.

Funny, I thought I'd reviewed when I came for Sunday lunch on Lewes Bonfire weekend. First thing to get clear is that the KH reopened under new management in Nov 22, so ignore reviews before that. Second, ignore the weird reviews about a TV show that predates that: no-one who has been to the KH since then would have a clue what they are talking about. I would support the landlord, anyway, after experiencing the welcome at The Black Horse, but based on several occasions, I think the KH does the best pub Sunday roast in the area, as well as being a welcoming space
