A very pleasant stop for coffee, cake, light lunches, etc. Some unusual options too, such as avocado and courgette GF cake. Set in nice grounds with alpacas goats and geese. Only downside was the smell of chips or similar cooking - maybe ventilation could be better.
I've visited several times now and have always enjoyed the various facilities.
I had a particularly good experience this morning when a man who works/owns/ runs it (sorry I didn't get a name) reassured me that my two very excitable and loud dogs were very welcome at our booked enclosed field appointment and that the surrounding animals would be unfazed by their barking! He was right and my dogs calmed down quickly and we enjoyed the field without any issues.
Thank you for the reassurance, I passed this to another dog owner on the way out!
I hate knocking off a star. I'll start with the positives.
Food was lovely, great selection for a nice lunch stop.
Large barn for seating.
Great you can feed the animals £1 a bag, lovely touch for a tea room.
Lots of cake to choose from (would of been better if they were labeled)
Very helpful when booking for a bigger table
Negatives unfortunately
Staff had 0 urgency, very long wait on getting served, 2 people serving 1 person at a time with no urgency to get people served and both doing the drinks etc. A gent had to come and help them serve to bring the queue down. Once food was ordered, we got the food quite quickly and it was very nice.
The staff (not the helpful gent) weren't the happiest, I don't expect people to walk round smiling all day but maybe put a customer service face on, I did it for many years 😂
Will definitely return, food and the animals were worth it.
Attached a photo of one of the calves 🩷
Most enjoyable. The staff (Richard especially) were very pleasant. We went for an alpaca walk and it was most relaxing and rewarding. They are lovely animals and happy to walk with us.
Afterwards we went into the cafe and, again, the staff were pleased to see us and the food was fresh and well cooked.
We looked around the farm at all the other animals and had a most enjoyable morning. We shall go again, without doubt.
Our thanks to all the staff who made our visit one to remember.
We bring our dogs here to have a run off the lead. It cost £10 for an hour and the field is locked off and fenced off the whole way around. We even had food and drinks brought out to us.
The dogs absolutely love it
Lovely big barn conversion into a tea room, well thought out and great furniture. Food was delicious. My only criticism is there wasn't any menu's on the tables and the cakes weren't labelled in the cabinet. Not everyone likes to ask about prices or food availability. They have a secure paddock for dogs to run around off lead, which just needs booking online, which is a great use of the space they have. Fantastic first impression, we will be back!
A nice place, big airy room (and old barn I believe), lovely cakes, good food, but when we went there it seemed to be run by teenagers. Don't know if this was a community thing, but a little strange otherwise. Service was polite, but a little unorganized.
If you have children there's the extra bonus of an array of farm animals, including llamas, alpacas, goats, pigs, geese and more. There are also bags of food you can buy for £1 to feed the animals, which is always fun.
Final thought, easy to get to, plenty of parking, accessibility good, it just lacks that little something to get the five stars.
Lovely place, free parking, great for kids and good access for wheelchairs. Tearoom was lovely and a good selection on offer. I loved the animals, dave the alpaca was fab and loves a walk.
The dog grooming, doggie daycare and dog training facilities are amazing and the staff are great. ❤️
Nice big car park, lots of animals to walk past on the way to the cafe...it's a modern barn with nice views of the countryside, nice clean toilets...it's dog friendly too...
We had cheese and onion toasties..simple food .... What sets this apart is they used decent quality cheese...the coffee was good quality too...well worth going to...it's just off the A47 too...a much better bet than the nearby cafe mont vountou...which doesn't allow dogs inside.
Had a stop here today 17th Feb 2023 whilst driving around the countryside with a few other cars.
The car park is very large and easy to access.
The tea room is in a purpose built large barn fitted out with tables chairs and so comfy sofas.
They have a hot food menu and today had six huge lovely looking homemade style cakes which we chose over the menu, we were given very generous slices of cake that we washed down with a nice coffee. They were really good....
The access is easy for abled and disabled and wheel chair access is possible.
The on site toilets were clean and tidy and the cubicles are large with hand basins and blow hand dryers, three single cubicles and a larger wheel chair access one with baby changing facilities all unisex separated suitably.
It was quite busy but service was reasonably quick.
The tea room is located behind a field filled with alpacas, goats and geese which you can feed with food bought on site, you can also visit the cows in the cow sheds.
There's also an indoor play area for young children called smallville role play.
I think in the summer they also have a further play area and picnic tables outside the tea room. For eating food bought on site.
At the rear of the plot there is a knots and tangles pet grooming service and a large fenced field which you can hire to let your dogs run free.
The signs said that there is also Missy's emporium not too visible on this visit but we thought it referred to the stone figures of various animals and some old style farm bits that were for sale.
