As a long-time fan for over a decade, I consistently enjoy the Chicken & Mutton Tikka with chips. The mint sauce and green chili add delightful flavor to this fantastic meal. While the menu has been updated since my last visit, I preferred the old white takeaway boxes as they allowed flavors to mix better in a smaller space.
My only suggestion is that the sauce in my box today was excessive, overpowering the taste of the chips, and the mutton tikka was slightly cold. Nevertheless, it remains a great spot for Indian cuisine in a convenient box format.
Went to Bombay Bites after a long time and the looks and menu have been updated. The food/flavours still tasted the same which was good. If you fancy an Indian in a box with a twist, visit this place. Staff were polite and friendly and the place is clean.
Absolute treat, the host was amazing, took care from beginning to end.
The food what can I say one of the best Indians I have had in a long time, this place would cause a riot if it was based in london
Ordered delivery.
Tried the meat grill box. Nice concept. Packed nicely in a round box with an appealing presentation. It tasted great with the mix of sweet chutney, crispy onions, chips and naan. I would strongly suggest adding a curry sauce as it was quite dry if you chose to manage with the chutney or mayo. Chicken pieces were tender and so was the naan. The chips/fries tasted really nice and the kids enjoyed it. The meat slices were thin and just the right thickness. I would advice them to add more flavour in the meat. It had an over powering meaty smell considering that this is Indian food, the smell of spices was missing in the lamb. The right mix of sauces and curry will make it taste even better.
The price seems to be quite expensive for what they are offering. A drink + small sweet like a piece of jalebi or gulab jamun. should be included in the price to make it fair for the food being offered.
I always really fancy a Bombay Bites, used to visit frequently about 10 years ago. Found lately it has been a bit hit and miss, sometimes the chips aren't cooked properly, but the paneer is way over done.
It's a shame its not as consistent as it was.
A lot of bad reviews in here but my boxes were absolutely lovely.
We usually order for collection from Evington branch and never had an issue.
First order from this branch and no issues either. Good size portions, nicely cooked and very tasty. Will definitely be ordering again.
Bombay Bites is one of only a few eateries that define Leicester and gives the city a rare unique selling point. Somehow a meal from here transcends fast food even though fast food is the reason why you visit. The quality of the food and ingredients are akin to your favourite indian restaurants but the price rivals your usual on the go burger chain restaurants. The product itself is a thing of joy yet very simple in construction, a box of comfort food. My favourite is box #3; tandoori chicken greets you when you open the lid on the box, below there is a layer of chicken masala which has perfectly begun to steep into the nann layer below that. If you dig down to the bottom you'll find the rice waiting for you.
I recommend Bombay Bites for any of the following situations: work lunch, I can't be bothered to cook tonight, i want my visitors some cool food, I'm absolutely starving and I need to feel full, let's grab something on the way to football and finally I want some decent Indian cuisine but I'm on my own tonight. I'd not eaten here for over a year or two (regrettable in retrospect) and I recently visited again (on a busy Friday evening.) SOMEHOW standards have not slipped and the food seems even better now than ever before! Photos don't do it justice. I get the feeling I'll be back next week to pick it up again upon the orders of my wife...
I normally have this when visiting family in Leicester as it is consistent, quick, reasonably priced and most important, tasty. The staff are nice and friendly also.
The box portions are also generous and filled plenty with the option of choice.
Perfect order, food is delicious. My first order was wrong and Bombay Bites did no hesitate to send it out one more time. I’m extremely happy with the food 5 stars!
Went in for lunch at 2pm. The gentleman knew straightaway it was our first time and kindly offered us a taster. We then ordered 4 small boxes of the different tandoori chicken bites with a variety of naan, chips and rice and a separate order of popadums and chips. The 4 small boxes were full to the rim with delicious hot food and actually was enough for 7 of us. Chicken pieces were tender and juicy and the spices just right. The chips were crispy and the rice complemented the spicy sauces well.
