Amazing place with Live music and amazing food. The portions are really good, the staffs are very humble and polite, and make you feel welcomed. The restaurant is located inside a historical building, which is a nice feeling if you are interested in history, so its food to read about the place before visiting, and feel the history when you arrive there. Located in quite a nice neighbourhood as well, so you have lot of parking spots available nearby, and also lot of other restaurants which you can hop.
The ground floor has the bar, where there is live music as well, the day we visited we had a all girl band, and they were amazing. The first floor has the restaurant.
Food wise everything was quite nice, except for Mac and Cheese which literally had no flavour.
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven...!! We arrived at the front entrance which leads you into the tap house... Omg what a selection of ales.!! I did contemplate staying here all night. Upstairs the restaurant is stunning, maintaining all of the original features of this historic building. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. As for the food well what can I say, it was stunning.! My wife and I shared the platter and there wasn't much left. Our daughters both had a burger which looked really good. The best though was the Bbq chicken wings, simply stunning
Overall this place is a must visit smokehouse in Leek, we all can't wait to come back again.
Decided to book here as we were in Leek looking after our sons cat whist he was away for the weekend. We had noticed this place when passing on previous occasions and was tempted by the look of it.
Really pleased to find it had a great selection of real ale, the menu was good, the food and the service was good. The bar area was a little quiet but considering the price of things at the moment that's not surprising. That is by no means a negative towards this restaurant/ bar as the prices are reasonable.
I had the half rack of ribs which was plenty for me, my wife had the black and blue burger which has black pudding in it and she absolutely loved it.
I drank the old mill beer, my wife had a cherry flavour beer and then an orange flavour one and really enjoyed both (she likes the fruit flavoured ones)
Overall I really liked this place, pleasant staff, good food, great choice of beer. Not much more you can ask for.
Keep up the good work and we've recommended you to family and friends already.
I love this bar. It is UnTappd verified, and has perhaps the best selection of real ales for miles. I have been now several times, and it has a great rotation of brews.
We’ve not eaten here yet, but will one day soon.
Unbelievably high quality food, fantastic drinks and very friendly staff all knowledgeable about the menu.
Came here on a date night and will definitely be back. The food is very well prepared but there was very little waiting time. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
Outstanding is the only word I'd use to describe the food here!!
We went on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet, apparently much busier on other days. Starters were Burnt ends and Piri chicken, both delicious (no photos as too eager to eat!) Mains we had BBQ smokehouse Burger which my partner stated was the best meal he's had in years! I had the Beef Brisket which was divine, great portions, extremely well cooked, wonderful sauce and perfect chips!
The building itself is quirky and super cool! The wine selection was great and there looked to be a big selection of craft ale too.
Service was also fab, we'll be back again for sure!
Had a wonderful dinner date here Sunday night. Service was great and food served fast. This definitely didn't compromise on quality as we thoroughly enjoyed every item we ordered. The steak was juicy and well cooked, I highly recommend the mac n cheese! Atmosphere was cosy and the drinks menu had a great selection of wines to fit the menu. 100% worth a visit if you're in or around Leek!
The barbeque here was excellent. Home made sauces which were perfect. The brisket was so tender - the best I've had in a while. Very friendly service. The Sharing platter was huge! Highly recommend!
Great food and service. Restaurant is comfortable with plenty of tables. Place was clean and tidy. Steak night highly recommended!
Amazing place with the best burgers I have eaten in a while. Fantastic people with a huge choice of drinks.
Well, what a little hidden gem this place is! Went this evening for tea, absolutely blown away with the quality of the food and the level of service we received from the staff,
Superb job we will be back!
Our favourite place for date night or family meal. Food isn't overpriced for the quality and portions that you get ❤️
Brilliant, almost 'hidden' gem! Food absolutely delicious and the portions just perfect, me and my partner both cleared all of our plates. Amazing selection of real ales and lagers; probably the biggest selection I've seen which my partner tried a couple of. They even had a non-alcoholic spirit (Seedlip) which was really nice and a great change from the usual Becks Blue or pop!
Above all, the staff were really friendly and approachable, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. Working within the hospitality industry myself it makes all the difference to a business and service when the staff are bright, outgoing and can have a laugh together! Everyone made up a fantastic little team. Very happy that this place is just on our doorstep, we will be back!

Came here on a wednesdag it was quiet but the staff were attentive and friendly. I got a rack of ribs and my husband got fillet steak as it was steak night. Both of us really enjoyed our meals and the bbq sauce on the ribs were lovely!
Lovely bar that has some of the best beers on in Leek (if you like Impy stouts etc). Food is good but the veggie menu could be expanded. But then again it is a smokehouse so the emphasis is on meat. Lovely staff too.
Had a lovely Americano coffee here, can't wait to try the food, it looked amazing.
UPDATE
Great smoked BBQ food and a warm welcome
Our table for 7 people was ready and we were excited to try this new venture in Leek.
Menu is focused around the meat from the smoker (hence, Smokehouse), and is all brilliantly done.
Brisket beef, Asian pork, BBQ pulled pork, burgers, steaks, there's a lot to choose from, even a nod to those that don't want to eat flesh here and there, so don't be too frightened to visit if you're vegetarian.
We had a wide variety for our sitting tonight with there being 7 of us, the two of us that chose the Boa Buns reckon we won at choosing the starters, although Dad's "burnt ends" were also amazing.
Children's food is smaller portions of whatever is offered to the adults, our small person had smoked chicken, although we did see half (and quarter) portions of burger coming out to other tables, so they weren't kidding!.
Main course for me was a black and blue burger which was absolutely superb, local fresh bread and a great tasty patty with a great blue cheese sauce to accompany. Plenty of fries and a dollop of home-made 'slaw.
If you do save room for Dessert, bear in mind that the cakes are absolutely delicious, and you get a great big slice. The ice-cream (if you choose that rather than just cream) to go with it, is also local, and the honeycomb flavour was again, rather delicious.
I can't wait to go back and try something else from the menu, it was all well done, everyone is finding their feet and trying hard to accommodate and grow this new business. It wouldn't be amiss in the trendy Northern Quarter in Manchester. Industrialist decor without being cold and unwelcoming, a great jukebox (with seemingly no restriction on music variety (which is a very good thing in my opinion) at the right volume to hear without destroying conversations.
A brilliant drinks choice, cold, hot, alcoholic, and not.
I can't think what else to tell you here other than you're wasting time reading this instead of booking up to try The Old Mill. We definitely will.
Honestly probably the best BBQ I’ve had in Europe (I’m originally from North America so I’m a tough sell). Now, that’s not to say it couldn’t be better. But when I’m craving some proper BBQ and I don’t have the energy to make it myself, this is the next best thing. The ribs were tender. The brisket was great. Honestly, worth the try if this this is your type of thing. The restaurant itself is relaxed and definitely family friendly. We will certainly be back.
