Enjoyable lunch stop with very pleasant and helpful young man serving. Very nice setting and has outdoor seating to the front and rear. I had mushroom soup and a cheese sandwich combo, which had a cheaper deal on if bought together, as the young man kindly pointed out. The lemon drizzle cake was, I have to say, totally delicious. Only loses a star because the soup bowl was chipped and am afraid the cheese looked like processed cheese slices. Speak as you find, and I thought it was a pleasant café with helpful staff. I would revisit.

Enjoyed a nice coffee and cake whilst looking out over Kirkstall Abbey. Prices a little high for food but drinks are reasonable. Outside seating is nice

Very warm Sunday, cafe is a large room which was nice and cool unfortunately as it was not dog friendly we got to sit in the rear courtyard at a picnic bench. Not sure when they last swept given the debris there. Food was a simple selection though tasty and reasonably priced. You go to till to order and pay with them delivering hot food to the table.

On my third visit to Leeds this year, I was informed about The Gate House Cafe close to the Kirkstall Abbey. The quaint building with a lovely outdoor space most suitable for the warmer climate . The indoor space especially the toilets were very clean. Some lovely photos surrounded the walls, detailing the history of the Abbey..The staff were friendly with a smile..The food and cakes looked lovely, I only tried the fruit and carrot cake, I would say it's tasted better than cakes I've purchased from Harrods at a third of the price. The Hot chocolate was very hot, just as the description says... It's a must visit for families and friends, friendly atmosphere.. Thank you to the manager who I met on entering the cafe.. I will definitely be returning...

The Gatehouse is a nice place to enjoy a drink, lunch and cake on the afternoon of a summers day. Or any time of year. Its close the the playground for any children and close to the abbey if you fancy looking around. Its a nice pit stop to or back from the abbey or for passers by. I would definitely recommend it.
