We noticed this lovely little restaurant after recently moving into the local area and visited last night. We were greeted by 2 very friendly servers and offered our choice of tables. There is so much to choose from, without the menu being too overwhelming.
Eventually we decided to share the special mixed tempura (prawns, avocado, sweet potato and aubergine deep fried in a tasty thick batter) and Takoyaki (battered octopus balls in yaki sauce with mayo) Both appetisers were delicious but the Takoyaki was out of this world and I could eat it all day!
We both knew we wanted ramen as we had heard, that unlike a lot of other Leeds based restaurants, the ramen here comes with your choice of soup base; pork bone, miso, shoyo or cheese and pork bone and you can also choose which noodles you want; thick udon, thin buckwheat or classic thin egg ramen noodles. We both settled on the Senbon Sakura ramen with a pork bone soup base and ramen noodles- the ramen was out of this world, full with tasty grilled chicken, roast pork, salmon, king prawn and a huge mussel. It also comes with nori, a soy marinated egg, spring onion, sesame and wakame seaweed, bean sprouts and sweet corn. So yummy! After a couple of bites my husband proudly declared this was his new favourite restaurant in Leeds and I agree!
The restaurant itself has a really casual and quite traditional Japanese vibe, bare wooden tables and chairs with no kitschy gimmicks and plays really cool, jolly Japanese music. The service was super friendly and quick, we were regularly checked on and dishes were cleared away quickly. For 2 mains, 2 starters and 2 drinks, the bill came to around £35, which is amazing!
Be aware that they don't have an alcohol licence yet but have a good selection of soft drinks and teas.
I'm looking forward to trying out their lunches and breakfasts in future too.
Absolutely amazing food, plenty of vegan options or options that could be made vegan friendly. Such good value for money, a lovely atmosphere and I couldn’t fault the staff. Will definitely be back!!
Had a family gathering here tonight and everybody loved this place. The owner was so welcoming and was very happy to describe the dishes. The food was excellent in taste, presentation and value. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Will definitely go again.
I had the best Yakisoba I've ever eaten here. They even gave me some mayonnaise to put on top. I'll definitely be coming back.
Great place for sushi and miso soup. Friendly staff, clean and tidy. Would recommend!
absolutely loved our visit. warm welcome and hot ramen soup ;) pork bone stock is absolutely delicious ;) amazing food in such an unexpected place :)
Had an excellent takeaway meal from Senbon Sakura this evening. My partner called and ordered for delivery at a specific time as she was out, and they arrived bang on the agreed time. We live a little out of the city centre too and they were happy to deliver to our location. The food was fantastic and there was an abundance of it, which was really surprising given the cost. Very reasonably priced, expertly prepared using fresh ingredients and crafted with care. We will absolutely be ordering again. Thanks for a great meal!
Had a fabulous vegan dish last week! I'm so lucky that this place is literally next door!
Beautiful fresh tasty food , would strongly recommend
Enjoyed what we had, can’t wait to come back and try some of the other options
Excellent staff and brilliant food!!! All the food was fresh and authentic Japanese sushi!
It's the second time we've ordered from here. The first time it wasn't good but it had only recently opened so was probably having some teething problems. Today the food was really good and was delivered in a reasonable time. The only problem is we were missing an item both times.
Just finished an amazing takeaway from these guys. Amazing! Best yakitori I think I've ever had Thank you!
My comfort place when I want to eat something delicious and quick. Supportive and friendly staff. Cozy, japanese-korean style atmosphere.
Best fried chicken in Leeds 🥰🥰 love chicken karaage and teriyaki wings
I come here very often!
Stumbled on this place last night and i was pleasantly surprised. It has a nice, cosy atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and attentive. I ordered a mix of sushi and everything was delicious! Great sized portions, i left full and satisfied! Highly recommend!
Nice food, if you are looking for actually good rice and fresh fish. Great value. But this time, my mochi were covered in ice.. :(
Staff are friendly but definitely had a lack of skills/experience
Nestled away in the city centre of Leeds is this absolute gem of a restaurant.
I have struggled to find a Japanese that ticks all the boxes but after coming here yesterday, I have finally found it.
The prices are so good I ordered two mains for myself and the portions did not disappoint.

The food was delicious and the selection was great. The staff welcomed you through dotes with a smile. The food arrived quickly and let me tell you - it was so delicious and freshly made. The gyozas were crispy and the filling was 5 star.
I loved the food, especially the Sesame Noodles. It has a huge menu with lots of delicious options! The service is great and the building is beautiful inside! It has a car park very close by and is easy to find! Definitely recommend to those who have a taste for Japanese cuisine.
1st time diners. Absolutely amazing place! I'm very new to Japanese food but have to say everything we tried was delicious. The dining area is quite small but while we were there (party of 4) it was reasonably busy but never felt crowded. The service was top tier, we were neither bothered nor left unattended, perfect.
We were all planning our next visit before we paid the bill.
Would highly recommend.
First time here and will definitely come back. Very good and fresh sushi, loved the crispy gyozas, waitress was really helpful.
Small place that packed a large bang. The best sushi rolls I've had in Leeds. I recommend the prawn volcano rolls, very large in size and presented well. As for the taste 10/10.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Keep up the good work.
Perfection!!!! Why are there not many more places like this in Leeds??? The food was amazing (especially for the price) atmosphere was amazing, service was great, location was great and the bento box was so neatly laid out...I cannot fault this place at all!!!! Thoroughly enjoyed this place.
Seriously one of those hidden gems!
Love the interior decor it’s so colourful and inviting. The food is amazing, I had the best miso soup and salmon sushi. It is fresh. The bottomless green tea is also amazing. I’ve been there twice and I’ll keep on going there it’s just great every time.
Also for dessert try the mochi! Absolutely Devine!
There are many sushi spots in leeds but this is definitely one of the best. Would highly recommend if you’re in city centre or near the universities
Had dinner on the excellent set meal deal- at 2 courses and a drink for £16, I was very happy! Portions were just right, service was incredibly fast. Sushi was tasty and not stingy with the salmon, and the wasabi wasn't overpowering as it can be in some places
We've been eating here for a couple of months now. I'm happy to finally post a 5/5 review for their restaurant. Excuse the low quality photos, my phone is older than me.
Always a pleasure coming here, feels just like being in Japan. The fried rice with eel is my favorite, such deep flavor and the eel is super tender and the seasoning in the rice doesn't take away from it either. The takoyaki is simply amazing, better than many places I had it in Japan (Lived there 6 years)! The sushi is also very good for the Japanese/American sushi (you don't find many 'rolls' in Japan) which I like to try different ones. The Nigiri (more traditional) is also really good quality, you can tell they take extra care in selecting their fish. So far, this is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the UK (I drive 40mins just come here). For those who have spent time in Japan, this is what you are looking for!
We dropped in for dinner at around 6.30pm on a Tuesday, the premises are cosy and thematically decorated with paper lanterns and . K-pop and J-pop playing on a screen over the bar, the sushi (california, salmon and Avocado aramaki/temaki) and fried appetisers (squid rings, prawn tempura, chicken gyoza) were fantastic. The service was excellent, prompt, efficient and friendly, the waiting staff were highly attentive and the food was brought out quickly and piping hot! The only minor quibbles were that the katsu curry had slightly more anise than my wife prefers and the children were luke-warm about their beef wok udon. My Senbon Sakura Udon was delicious with a caramelised barbecue aroma and great depth of flavour.
Price was on the higher side but we did order a lot of food and took home lunch for the next day.
Would highly recommend.
The food was amazing and full of taste! There's vegan and vegetarian options too along side with meat & fish option's. Food was quick, hot and fresh. Staff very nice and helpful. Will definitely return. Worth the travel through 😀🔥
