We popped here during a lovely sunny evening stroll.
We chose to have a glass of Gose 3 fruit fermented beer.
Gosh Gose was gorgeous.
Lovely spot bathed in sunshine. Lovely big outside in style windows and seating.
The Bar lady was fab very helpful friendly and COVID stuff was present without being in your face.
We’ll definitely be returning.

Incredibly friendly staff. Hannah was absolutely lovely and patient answering all my questions as I do not know much about beer, she made sure I did not even have to get off my seat to get another beer. One recommendation I got and I will not forget was pastore sour. At the end of my visit I even got a few cans to go home. The only small downside is that the chairs seem to be falling apart and now I have to be strategic about where I sit. Nevertheless, this bar it is now my to go place in Meanwood.

Great little bar. Very friendly staff. Updated June 2022 - still a great little bar. Excellent beers quality atmosphere. Civilised and quiet. UPDATE February 2023 - still going well and still a great place for a drink. Excellent cask beers on a regularly changing rosta with regular guest ales. All this is in addition to the range of North's own (quality) beers. Updated November 2023 - you should go to this bar. Excellent beers, great staff. Pleasant atmosphere....
Remains one of the best local bars and my personal favourite in Meanwood. Good cask offering. Always plenty of choice for other beers lagers and porters. Great atmosphere, looking forward to returning to Alfred for years to come.
Update March 2024 - one of the best bars in the area and in my opinion the best bar in Meanwood. Always a pleasant welcome from friendly staff. Great range of beers including local cask options - always a couple of North's own cask offering. On keg, a good range of beers, cider and lagers. Interesting cans from the fridge. They do toasties now and have links to local restaurants for eating in.
My only gripe is that yapping dogs are over tolerated - nothing wrong with well behaved dogs / owners, but some owners think the world loves their dog regardless of their behaviour. Not everyone having a pint wants barking dogs in the background. Three barks and you're out should be followed through....

Popped into this hostelry for apéritifs. I'd call it quaint yet cool. Our patron for the evening was a most convivial fellow, Chris who was more than agreeable to meet our every need, no matter how niche or bizarre.
The beer selection is really good and there's a fridge of tins if you prefer to imbibe sat out in the streets. I recommend Sputnik beer although everything is rather overpriced giving that air of cool pretension which it is not.
Overall, I would give this house 6 out of 7 points. I shall return. Hopefully with better company next time.
Great atmosphere. Just nice and calm. Music is in the background and conversation in the forefront. Nice selection of beers that change. Yeah. I like this. Not tried the food yet, if the beer quality is anything to go by then it may well be a winner all round.
It can get hectic, a few deep at the bar. That is when the noise level rises and for me becomes too much. If you want a chilled quality pint you cannot go wrong here. If you want quiet contemplation, pick your times . I will however be back such is the diversity offered here.

I bloody love Alfred. It's mine and my boyfriends favourite bar in Meanwood. The ale available is always so good and the atmosphere is always great. The staff are amazing and make you feel so welcome every time you are in there. I love this bar and would recommend to anyone! Maybe not if you have a huge dog or a big pram as it is quite small, but I think it adds to the character of the place!

This is our favourite bar in meanwood. Although a challenge to find a seat, that is all part of its charm!! Worth standing for a short while to enjoy a relaxing stay with a wide range of beer, wine and cocktails!!
Top bar. Great beer selection from across the world. I had a 10% stout that was perfect. Lots of seating space. Nice crowd / atmosphere. Very decent venue.
Alfred is a great little craft beer bar right in the middle of Meanwood. A varied selection on tap and a good bottle selection, too. Can be hard to find a table at peak times but well worth it if you can. The staff are friendly and helpful so if you're not sure what to try, just ask!
A fantastic little watering hole in Meanwood. They have a wide selection of beers and ales.
Dog friendly place. Ideal placs for catching up with a friend. Not so ideal for large groups but this is only down to the size of the venue.
The staff make a fantastic gin and tonic as well as great knowledge of beers. If you are in Meanwood I'd highly recommend stopping off for a beer.
