This is such a beautiful place, what they've done here is amazing. We didn't stay for any drink or food, but we were admiring it from the outside. The entrance is spectacular with lots of beautiful flowers. And it's definitely Leeds hidden treasure. We promise will be back for a drink and food another time.

Amazing place oldest pub in leeds .... lovely clean welcoming and the food was lovely ... after a long day shopping we went in for a bite to eat ordered homemade fish finger sandwiches and omg they were so good best we have ever had .... fish was freshly battered and fried chips were chunky proper home made... all the staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed... definitely recommend and will be going again.

Proper boozer in the centre of town. One of Leeds authentic alley pubs. Fine selection of well kept beers, polite and knowledgeable staff together with a friendly collection of customers make this a must visit.

There are several good pubs tucked away down snickleways off Briggate so keep your eyes open. Whitelocks was rammed and The Angel had no real ale so we popped in here. Only been once before. There were 4 real ales available on a bank of six handpumps. It had been a busy day with Leeds Gay parade. Paulicarus chose a Greene King golden ale. Very pleasant. This is a traditional pub with lots of dark wood and leather bench seating. There is some outside seating in the alleyway.

A good proper pub. I went in with my daughter before going to see Fontaines D.C. at the O2 Academy just down the road. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, no background music. The beer was kept very well, I had a pint of Black Sheep Bitter. It was excellent. We didn’t eat there, I wish we had but my daughter chose where we ate that evening. Any pub that offers liver & onions, mashed potatoes, peas & gravy for £9.50 in a city centre deserves my support. I want to go back to try it!

Used to be a regular haunt 20 something years ago, started calling in again occasionally for a post work drink and happily nothing much has changed. Still a traditional feel about the place and always a good atmosphere.
