Service was spot on - friendly helpful staff who explained a few things on the nenu - food was some of the best Indian cuisine I've eaten - will highly recommend on trip advisor and will be returning
25 years on and still the food is always spot on perfect
The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff are all so professional and helpfull
I've recently had my gallbladder out and they couldn't do enough to help me get back on the food I love by making my meal without oil thank you so much ☆☆☆☆☆
My 3rd visit here would absolutely recommend this place fantastic customer service lovely food we will definately be back on our next visit to leeds thankyou
1st visit here and not disappointed waiter was helpful and friendly and the food was delicious will definitely be going again
Shabab was recommended to me 27 years ago by an Indian waiter in Southport. It's moved since but I only first tried it last night. Cracking food and good service. Will be back without hesitation.
Best curry house in Leeds regular customer there love the food love the atmosphere very reasonable price staff friendly and helpful well worth going :)
Came across this restuarant totally by accident and decided to go in for tea before we went to the Arena to watch a gig. We'll, all l can say is the food and the service was absolutely fantastic. One of the best curries lve had in a long time. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.
I’ve walked past here so many times when heading to the station and finally getting to try it didn’t disappoint. Inside it’s a lot smaller than I had imagined and upon arrival the reception staff were a little blunt, but the impressive decor was enough to distract and fortunately the rest of the staff throughout the meal were superb. They were each able to recommend dishes and explain the options, all while remaining friendly and welcoming.
The menu is extensive and mostly geared around ‘special’ dishes, leaving the more traditional items to a small easily missable section. This encouraged me to try something new and I wasn’t disappointed. The chicken liver starter was a decent size, arriving in good time (especially since the size of our group) and thoroughly enjoyable. The presentation of all the starters on the table was good and no one had any complaints.
The mains also arrived in good time and were equally well presented. The portion sizes initially didn’t look great but that must have been an illusion, since we all finished suitably stuffed! Each dish was exceptionally flavoursome, with just the right amount of spice and herbs justifying the special promise of each item on the menu. The rice dishes were delicious and the keema rice had loads of meat in it which was superb. The naan breads were a particular speciality - they are served huge hanging from the table and are delicious. Overall every item on the table was delicious and impressive.
The tables are all very large making them ideally suited for groups. They compliment the decor and are works of art in themselves. It’s nice for the kitchen area to be open and if you’re sat nearby to it it’s entertaining watching the skilful staff make the breads. The drinks were a little slow to be served but perhaps this wasn’t helped by the size of our group.
Overall it was a wonderful meal and a memorable curry. It’s certainly not the cheapest but the quality of food and more unique aspects make it worthwhile and I’d certainly return.
The staff are lovely, very efficient and friendly. The menu is straightforward and the food is just great. Interesting Morrocan feel to the restaurant (?) with lanterns and upturned umbrellas on the ceiling. Very reasonably priced dishes.
Called in for a quick dinner prior to going to a concert. Our first visit to Shabab, we were greeted by a gentleman I assumed to be the owner who was quite jovial and shown straight to a table.
The menu was less extensive than some Indian restaurants but for me that’s a positive. The waitress was very pleasant and service prompt.
The food was lovely and I’d definitely visit again.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant with amazing food. This is definitely a hidden gem of Leeds. The food has never failed to not only be generous in portion size, but also consistently delicious. I ordered the chicken makhani and it was beautifully creamy. I've never had a makhani as good as the one served here. The normal size garlic naan was easily enough to share between two people (which we did)!
The staff were also incredibly friendly and attentive, and had a great rapport with customers.
The toilets were also beautifully clean and spacious, and the restaurant will happily box up any leftovers to take home, which was useful as I couldn't finish all my curry!
We will definitely be coming back again!
A nice restaurant with great food choices and friendly staff. Service was fast but not rushed. Next door to the main railway station
Really nice place after Christmas . Food was tasty, a lot of different flavours, different types of bread and sauces.
Perhaps one of the best Indian meals in UK I've had! Totally amazing flavours and outstanding value for money. Throw in brilliant service and this is a real winner
Brilliant place. Very understated from outside. Forget the new breed of ultra modern, glossy and expensive Indian restaurants on the scene. For traditional, high quality food and excellent at tentative service look no further. Highly recommended. Food is the best in Leeds. Always head there when visiting Leeds, never ever been disappointed!
Whilst it was busy we were accommodated straight away. The menu was interesting with some well known Indian restaurant staples, but also with ones that were different. The dessert menu had some classic dishes that you would expect to find in an Indian home. The service was excellent. We paid £66 for two people having three courses and a good dollop of alcohol. I would definitely go again especially as it is so close to the station.

It was excellent. We were sat on a table near a very rude man and I thought the staff handled the experience wonderfully. I have been here before and would definitely come back. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and they were very accommodating with my friend who has a severe gluten allergy. My only comment would be for the staff to be more aware of what contains gluten and what does not, or for the restaurant to have a diet sheet. But they were more than willing to find out for us what contains gluten and what does not. Five stars, would definitely return again.
***AMAZING***
The service and the food at Shabab was second to none!! All the staff were very friendly and the food just melted in my mouth.
The best Indian food I have ever had!!
We got the house lager and house white wine with our meals and they were both so refreshing!!
I highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be returning!
Also - the facial towels you get after the meal are absolutely fabulous! I feel so refreshed!
Brilliant!!
Tasty food but quite expensive. £9.40 for a korma is over priced. The atmosphere is lacking as it's such a large area. We were served by several attendants with a range of qualities. All were polite and courteous on our arrival and on leaving. The restaurant and toilets are clean. You can always get a table which isn't a reflection on quality but rather the size of the place. Due to this I wouldn't rush back plus the food doesn't make such an impact for me to want to. It's okay.
Always worth the visit. Once again this restaurant provides the goods. Tried a new dish for me and hit the spot. Others at the table equally enjoyed their choices and the family nan, it has to be tried to be appreciated. You won't regret a visit to this place. Visit every occasion we're in Leeds.
I have been coming to this particular restaurant since I was a child. I love this restaurant. I have never had a bad meal or encountered rude staff (as in some of the other reviews). The food is fresh and I would not say salty. They prepare the food fresh so there is a bit of a wait but that is to be expected. In the current pandemic they have done the necessary steps and I feel very safe there. Cant wait to go back again.
I came here with my wife a few weeks ago, We were sat down straight away. Our drinks came on time and so did the food, The bartender made us feel like we were home, amazing personality, he did say if you need anything to ask him and as we did everything ran smoothly, I believe his name was hassan. Food was great service was great and most importantly well recommended. Promotion needed!! Will be back
