Forget about the negatives on here . We had 5 star service. 5 star quality food. Weeping tiger steak was excellent and very tender not fat whatsoever. Sharing platter starters excellent. Could not fault anything. Highly recommend. Eaten at sister restaurant in Sheffield and Newcastle. Cannot fault any.
The food was excellent so many different tasty flavours going on in the dish I choose, the staff are very nice and the service is quick. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special meal out in Leeds
Delicious food. Great service. Birthday celebration for my partner. Happy Birthday again to our lovely server too xI was also there yesterday with friends for the buffet meal. Which was also great.
Lovely meal for my son's 16th birthday, excellent food, lovely staff, beautiful surroundings. A favourite place for us to eat in Leeds.
After my first weekend off in a long time I had to catch up on a lot of things, mates on Friday night good old knee ups and the ball and chain had a wobbler with me so I had a good catch up agin with my mates on Saturday night aswell so your wondering why Iam tell you this BECOUSE believe me I had some making up todo by Sunday and a good old McDonald's wasn't going to do this🤔
All I can say is chaophraya was amazing!! the staff and food couldn't fault one bit and if it wasn't for this place I'd be back at my mums, will definitely come again without question
Attended a cooking lesson at Chaophraya leeds with friends yesterday and it was fantastic. We spent 3 hours learning how to cook and then eat Tod Man Pla (fish cakes) Geang kiew Wan Gai (Green Chicken curry) and Thai Coconut pancakes. Each dish was first demonstrated to us and then we were given as much help as we required to cook the dish from scratch before tucking in and eating it whilst our tutors prepared the cooking area for our next course.
And was surprise at the end by being given our chefs aprons, hats and thd remainder of our thai green curry paste to take home.
Mmmm delicious
exceptional
exceptional and busy thai restaurant. always our first stop in leeds. the food is beautiful and plentiful . along with steve the manager who goes the extra mile to make sure your visit is pleasurable the staff are great too.authentic thai food in a very big, busy restaurant. good selection from the bar. lots of seating but it does get very busy. if you are in leeds this place is a must. its just a pity the newcastle one has slipped since they changed the management team. this leeds one is first class
I love Chaophraya, it's a great restaurant in Leeds, brilliant service. We've been a few times and it's always been good.
What to order? The weeping tiger is amazing.
When to go? Evening - date night
What makes it unique? Excellent service
We dined here for Private occasion
Everything from the online reservation onwards went smoothly.
Upon arrival we were immediately shown to our table. The service was attentive without being over baring.
Our food, Asian Platter for 2, Thai Green Chicken Curry (extra spicy) and Weeping Dragon was all superb.
On the Asian Palmer, my favourite was the duck salad, my wife preferred the tempura prawns
The main courses were cooked to perfection and nicely presented. Including a portion of egg noodles and a potion if egg fried rice, there was no room for a dessert but we did manage to squeeze a couple of Singha's down.
Combining the great food, reasonable prices, lively atmosphere makes for a winning combination
Chaophraya has always been a favourite when visiting Leeds and this time was no exception. The food is fantastic- great flavours, of a high quality and well presented. The staff are also very friendly and attentive and the whole restaurant is decorated beautifully.
In September we visited for a birthday party and booked the function table with the sunken seats in the private dining area. The area was separated off from the main restaurant by beautiful fish tanks and was decorated nicely inside. This made for a really special occasion as our large group could enjoy beautiful surroundings and spread out within our area to interact together in a way that did not disturb the rest of the diners. The staff brought us each a glass of prosecco as part of our celebration and waited on us fantastically all afternoon. I would definitely recommend this space for party gatherings!
Craving a good place for Thai since morning, we finalised to a great suggestion by the birthday girl to come down from Bradford to Chaophraya. Even though they were tight on schedules for bookings, what I loved about the place was that they have quite a big waiting area which we were seated at for a good 45 mins, above which was a big help since we had toddlers with us. On top of that, they allowed to have access to the bar too till then. Loved the Virgin pina colada and another mock tail that we had to begin with.
We also took a little liberty to discover the place since they have a massive outlet spread over 2 floors with 2 bars, an outdoor seating area, a private dining area, an aquarium etc which is good to keep people entertained.
After quite a wait even after our time for reservation had passed, we we were seated on the ground floor on a very fancy big table. Chon our waitress was quite cheerful and helped us out a lot. With the good wait that we had, we had already decided on whatever to order due to our built up appetites. We called for 2 portions of Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup. Quick tip, they might end up putting wait too much mushroom (if mushroom soup) or chicken (if chicken soup) which not much of the liquid soup, so you could pass on it if not too keen.
Post soup, we ordered for a crispy duck salad which had duck meat which was quite chewy. Not too impressed with the barely touched salad, we asked Chon if she should help us replace the item with something else to which she happily agreed and got is spring rolls of our choice.
Post that, we got some chicken with cashew nut stir fry, some chicken green curry(greatt) and some lamb red curry and some egg fried rice and egg noodles. All the dishes were great!!! Each had a distinct taste which is super important.
To end with, we had asked for a cake for the birthday girl, which they charge you for and get the cake to your table while singing.
Great greAt experience overall! Will go again!!!
Fantastic meal. Gorgeous and modern, very attentive service, and delicious Thai food. The Thom Kha Gai was one of the best I've ever had--huge chunks of young coconut gave it an amazing texture.
Amazing Thai food! Would definately recommend to everyone! For a less expensive eating experience there is a buffet on sunday's between 12 and 3, £10 per person. I felt like I was ripping them off!!
Chaophraya was a truely special experience!! The staff were incredible as well as the food- couldn't ask for more!
Four of us went last night and had a superb meal, one if the best Thai meals I've had. £22.50 for 2 courses wasn't bad considering the size of portions. The red and green Thai curries were excellent and the salads which you can have as a starter were huge, and delicious according to my friend. I had the spring rolls to start which were stunning. I'll be going again!
Six of us went on Valentines Day 09. We had the set menu at about £50.00. per head. Drinks extra. Possibly the best Thai meal that I have ever had, and I learned to prepare Thai food in one of Bangkok's top hotels.
Having the meal at Jinos on Saturday reminded me of how much I like Thai food, and how much I enjoyed Chaophraya which I had visited a couple of years ago. So on Wednesday when I couldn't be bothered to cook, Liam didn't fancy any of the food we had in we
We visited Chaophraya after seeing it had won the Yorkshire 'Best World Restaurant' awards 2023, so were eager to give it a try!
We booked our table for 6:30 but were running late. We called the restaurant to let them know, which was no problem at all and our table remained reserved. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff that showed us to our table and gave us the food and drinks menu. There is so much choice on the food menu, something for everyone, there is even a vegetarian section which you don’t always see. To start, we decided to go for the vegetable spring rolls and the chicken spring rolls to share, these came with a sweet chilli sauce which and were so tasty, and we're packed with fillings! For the mains, we both had the sweet and sour papaya chicken. Again the mains were so tasty and were presented beautifully. At first I was a little hesitant about the papaya being in the sweet and sour chicken but actually it went really well! The chicken was also cooked to perfection, full of flavour and coated in a really crispy but light batter. The sticky rice was also perfect! Although we were offered the desserts menu, we were so full from the starter and mains that we decided not to have a dessert, although there are some really good options!
Overall, we were really impressed with this experience and can appreciate why it is an award winning restaurant, we would definitely return again!
An excellent place, great ambiance and with Halal Chicken and Duck as well as very good selection of Veg options. Cherry on top excellent service. Alex was polite, friendly -and extremely knowledgeable making ordering and whole experience a pleasant one. If in doubt ask for Alex 😎
Dishes prepared to a high quality. Generous portions.
Would strongly recommend the pork skewers served with that delicious sauce.
Excellent service and a well decorated restaurant, suitable for a special night out.
Great choice of food and a really modern atmosphere - we were served by Will and he was really engaging and helpful and was able to provide help with any queries we had on the menu. Would certainly like to come back again.
We visited here on a cold and wet Sunday evening but still impressed by the quality of the surroundings. If I had any complaints, it was a little cold in there however there was a plausible reason for this so I have not reduced the scores. The main thing was the quality of the food and the service. Both were extremely high end (as were their festive cocktails) and cannot wait to return.
Beautiful place with beautiful food, the portion was very reasonable and more importantly very filling & satisfying aswell as quality . The staff our very friendly & welcoming and happy to help . I love the interior and how it all looks its very clean and cosy I will certainly be returning soon.
What a nice place to go! The aura, service, quality and presentation of food were excellent. We went for dinner and we experienced a nice evening. We look forward to returning soon.
One of my favourite restaurants in Leeds and it has to be part of the top Thai restaurants in the UK. The food is absolutely delicious. The service is great. And the atmosphere is very cosy. Highly recommended, particularly in the Leeds location as that is the very first and original Chaophraya restaurant. Khop khun krub!

Stylish and friendly, great lofi soundtrack and sensational food with reasonable prices. If you’re local and haven’t experienced this gem you’ll wonder why once you’ve tasted it
Really great! Brilliant atmosphere! They had a limited menu though and everything on there was very spicy. Wouldn't recommend if your not good with spicy food but apart from that it is brilliant! Really professional and really fancy! Drinks were top notch!
The decor is impressive and we had high expectations as we walked in (having been to Chaopraya in Edinburgh). Service was good to begin with but that slowly deteriorated. We ordered cocktails which were weak but tasted good. The portion sizes were much smaller than the Edinburgh branch but tasted just as good. It was quite cold in the restaurant and unfortunately the management couldn’t care less about it.
Went for a work do. Beautiful place. Wonderful food, set menu, so much struggled to eat it all!! Catered for vegetarians, halal etc.
Stuck in Leeds for a few days with work, and my birthday today, so thought I'd try here for dinner. Absolutely blown away by the service and atmosphere, as well as the food and drink. Very pleasant and will definitely be back, albeit to the Newcastle location. Many thanks to Will for the great hospitality :)
A great range of options. Good quality food and it arrived hot! Lovely atmosphere and impressive fittings inside. Very handy for parking at the Q Park across the road. Starters averaged £8-10 with mains at £15+. Attentive helpful staff. Sensible to book in advance and payment is by digital means only (phone, card). Well worth a visit.
Probably, the best Papaya Salad I’ve had outside of Thailand.
Superb service, even for a large group.
Highly recommend
