Had steak an ale pie - it was delicious, just a tad overdone on the top pastry. The chips and vegetables were also very tasty, but the swede was unfortunately rock hard. Food was reasonably priced and was served within good time. 2 large glasses of red wine cost over £17 which I thought was hideously expensive, but apparently that's just Leeds prices ??? (It's been a while since I've been out in the city centre!) Staff were very friendly and there was nice outdoor seating with heating.

We weren't looking for this pub, we sort of found it by accident. What a lucky find, we were cold and needed somewhere to warm up. This pub is lovely and comfortable, with nooks and crannies in which to sit and chat over a drink. There is a very good selection of beers, cocktails and other drinks available from friendly bar staff. The menu looked very good, so we will definitely be going back to try the food. Our dog was welcome too, thanks

We had the Christmas buffet menu before we went to see the Rock n Roll Panto at City Varieties. It was the perfect start to the night. The food was great, the service was brilliant, they catered for our intolerances and provided Christmas crackers. Everyone loved it. Thank you The White Swan!

Had steak an ale pie, rump steak and gammon- meals were delicious, mash and vegetables were great, fresh and tasty. Food was reasonably priced and was served within good time. As previous reviewer, 2 large glasses of rose wine cost over £17 which we thought was expensive, but apparently that's just city centre prices. Staff were very friendly and helpful but once main meal was received they were too busy to offer good follow on service. We will go back however when next at theatre.

Good atmosphere, great food, great service. Will definitely go again should I be in Leeds. (The disabled bathroom needs a deep clean or refurb, definitely needs a mirror.)

Nice little bar, good selection of beers (plum porter is especially good) and tasty locally sourced food. Sunday roasts, bar games and a piano available for a tinkle. Adjacent to the City Varieties music Hall and you are able to take drinks into the venue or pop into the bar for the interval. There is also a small outside seating area for when the sun decides to shine.

Long time since going in here - Popped in for a pre-show drink and decided to have some food as it looked good coming out!! - wasn't disappointed at all with the decision - hadn't booked and staff were great, helpful, good service, checked back twice, food very good for what is a city centre 'boozer' style of pub. Will definitely be back. Thanks

We expected usual pub food but were impressed with the presentation and the fact that the dishes were full of flavour and colour. We're also chuffed to see Yorkshire produce on the menu, highlighting the fact that they support local businesses and that the ingridients on our plate didn't travel far either. The chocolate tart with Northern Bloc vanilla ice cream was absolutely delish. You have to try it guys! Definitely one to visit, and we were a bit sceptical before the visit, but the staff is very welcoming and caring, making sure they get as little contact as possible and always follow social distancing rules. Top lads - thanks Rob and Reece for having us! Maybe our experience is a bit biased as we were sat outside, chilling on a sun and enjoying cold beveragino, haha.

Visited for the first time in a few years, and it's still a pleasant pub. It was very quiet considering it was a Friday night, although this was a good thing for us on this particular occasion as we didn't fancy going somewhere super busy where we couldn't hear each other! The clientele were mostly middle aged and older, I think me and my husband were some of the youngest people in there apart from the bar staff, and we're in our 40s! There's a very good selection of beer, although annoyingly the only non flavoured cider they offered (Aspall, on tap) had run out (I can't drink beer due to intolerances) so I had to have wine, which was OK but nothing special. We didn't eat food, but had a look at the menu and it sounded very nice, mostly "modern British" style food. One thing I did notice was that they had a key at the bottom with "gf" for gluten free, but nothing on the menu had "gf" next to it (there were several vegetarian and vegan options marked as such, though). So if you have a gluten intolerance I'd suggest contacting them in advance to clarify this!
