This was my first visit with my husband and son who lives locally and recommended we visit.
The restaurant was very busy but service was first class. Food was delicious, great quality and very reasonable prices.
We also visited the shop and plant centre. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely call again
We come here frequently - it is consistently fantastic. My little kids and my older mother, as well as the hubby and I, all love each experience. The food is great quality as well as good value portion wise. It’s a bonus re the charity link. If they know you are coming with kids (so mention in the booking) they have the table laid out accordingly so the kids have something to do immediately - as a parent that’s brilliant as you can relax straight away.
There’s a fabulous little garden round the back with a large pond and walk down to further ponds/lakes. If you have little ones (ours are both under 4) the small first gardens and playground are brilliant. The takeaway offering is great - if they don’t have space in the restaurant I strongly recommend grabbing a take out coffee and walking round the garden anyway. There are plenty of seats and small wooden shelters available.
It is easy access for a pram as there are ramps where required. The front of house team are always very helpful and friendly and can help accommodate prams etc.
We also hosted a baby shower here - one guest has mobility issues but found this very easy to access. You can drive down the drive to the disabled spaces immediately outside the cafe area if you struggle to walk from the car park.
We love it here. Love love love.
You need to book for weekend and holidays. Excellent all round service which is popular to all, elderly, young families and older families, singles and couples. Great little artisan food shop and gift shop. Ice cream and snacks and takeaway coffees in next building. Pleasent landscaped walks in the grounds abd a great green house with very well cared for plants and products. Plenty of parking and accessible for disabled. We'll worth a visit.
What a gem of a find! The atmosphere felt homely with welcoming, friendly and courteous staff. Great choices on the menu for both vegetarian and non-vegetarians. Didn't visit the garden centre but will do next time 🙂👍
Fabulous place to take your friends and impress them. Delicious food lots of choice, and excellent service . After your meal or before, take the lovely rural trail walk. Finish with walk around the garden centre . Plenty of parking
Doesn't open on a Sunday so don't be caught out.
When we arrived today there was no queue and no one at the reception desk. Eventually a member of staff in a striped jumper arrived but completely ignored us, did not in any way acknowledge our presence. We continued to wait. The same person left but some minutes later returned to answer a phone call and again completely ignored us. A young man waiting tables passed and said he'd be with us soon and he was. Once seated and while we waited to be served I noticed the same woman completely ignore other customers as they arrived and waited. It was so disappointing because all the other staff are so welcoming and friendly. It is unfortunate that she is at reception creating such a poor first impression of an otherwise lovely place.
First visit everything was lovely and the all the staff who looked after us were happy , helpful and very efficient . I am coeliac and need gluten free but i had some good options though i could not have all. My husband had fish and chips they looked very tasty not gf but thats fine i had choices. We will come again and tell others to visit.
A really nice place to visit for a breakfast or light lunch. Staff were attentive and helpful and the deli serves very nice food to takeaway. Small shop that is quite expensive but nice to look around as well as the garden centre. I've been many times and will visit again.
Had 5 item breakfast. Broke my run of under par scrambled eggs having breakfast elsewhere. They were soft, beautifully seasoned and hot. Good toast, nice beans, well cooked mushrooms. Loved it.
Pass this place often and today decided to call in . Pleasantly surprised by the long driveway and hedged roadside !!
Saw a car park on the left and drove in . There were several disabled parking bays . I noticed too that there were cars parked nearer the buildings and due to showery on off weather ventured down the narrow track . Whilst it s true there are a further 3 disabled bays outside the building space is a bit tight . It leads to the farm so you have to turn around here and space is a little limited for a small minibus! However I got in and was able to unload out of the back of my vehicle . There has been a lot of changes since I last came here !! I saw that there was now a cafe as well as a restaurant on site . I only really wanted a tea and a look see so went into the cafe . The door is wide enough for a wheelchair but is not automatically opened .Once inside there was space down the centre for me and this led to a small annexe with glass walls with a view onto a central courtyard. There were a few tables in there and room for my chair . It’s clean modern and the cake was lovely . Great place I have found if not requiring the restaurant itself .
Went to the Granary Restaurant for the first time recently although this place had been on our radar for a while.
Used a voucher for a reduced coffee and scone.
Would go again, and might also visit the Garfen Centre.
Went here for lunch with friends on a Monday and enjoyed a good meal in pleasant surroundings. The buildings are some distance from the road, but the route is in better condition than the public road. There is also a gift shop here and an extensive garden centre. The car park was large, though fairly rough. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant, but it was pretty full nonetheless - mostly older adults. Not a vast choice on the menu, but good food.
Only one criticism. I had a voucher for afternoon tea but as we just all had a full breakfast was told I couldn't use my voucher. Surely as the voucher was spent in the restaurant I feel it should have been redeemable.
I have been visiting The Granary at Crag House Farm for a number of years. As a charity, I respect the good work they do, and see visiting the restaurant as a good way to support their work. Although the quality of the evening meals has been a little uneven recently, the breakfasts have been consistently excellent and pretty much the best in the area. On a positive note whenever I have raised a complaint regarding the meals, the staff have always offered to rectify the situation, which is nice to know. Regardless, I have stopped visiting for evening meals now and just stick to breakfast. I'm never disappointed with those!
