Fantastic afternoon celebrating my 50th in the sun with Bottomless brunch, food was so tasty & endless drinks, staff looked after us all so well. Definately recommend to friends. Thank you.
This is our go-to place for special occasions - when you want to feel a bit fancy, but not foodie formal. The food is incredible, a real experience and the value is amazing. Service can't be beaten too - great at accommodating big groups (bottomless brunches especially!) and always so attentive. Always the one I recommend to out of towners looking for a great meal in the city. Love how they make the most of local produce and experiment with flavours
amazing once again, love this place! went in a group of 6 + puppy for bottomless brunch. reserved a table outside for us and without fail everytime one of us finished a drink, someone was there to serve us. food was unreal as usual - one of my fave places in Leeds.
food excellent and ambiance was very warm and friendly.
We had the brunch and prosecco which was wonderful.
Staff members were very efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
I would recommend this place.
4th time we've been here last night and every time we've thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are friendly & polite, the cocktails are lush and the food is amazing. Every time we've been the menu has changed completely, there's always something different to try and they've always got a unique spin on them. The atmosphere is very relaxed and everyone who walks through the door is treat with the same respect. I've been to a lot of restaurants in Leeds and this place is still my favourite so far!
Had a lovely meal here yesterday! Food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Lovely relaxed atmosphere as well. Will be back again soon!
Shears yard is now my favourite restaurant. The food is amazing every time we have been. We have never had a bad portion or something just not right. The staff are welcoming and polite. Honestly, if you want perfection then go here!!
Excellent fine dinning experience great atmosphere and very knowledgeable and helpful staff . The wine complimented the food brilliantly . The mixture of flavours really worked well . Will definately rebook
Fabulous restaurant, visited a few times and food & drink always amazing. Bottomless brunch definitely to be recommended !
Great food great service never had an empty glass highly recommend.
Delicious food, outstanding service
I always forget how good Shears Yard is and the food and service I received yesterday was a perfect reminder of how lucky we are to have such a great restaurant in Leeds! Can’t wait to come back again!
A long time ago, Leeds only had greasy spoon-type cafés , dodgy pubs, and the odd decent Italian, and that was about that. Then came Arts Cafe down on Call Lane. It served good food, good coffee, good wine, and a few decent bottled beers. It was a little bit – dare I say it – European.
After months of eagerly awaiting news of their opening, Shears Yard opened on the 29th of August. For those of you who don’t know this is the new sister restaurant of the popular Art’s Cafe bar and Restaurant in Leeds City Centre. Over the past year there seems to have been a mini explosion regarding fine dining in Leeds, and I wasn’t sure if Leeds had a big enough appetite for another one. The people at Shears Yard had organised a launch night on the 28th, and as a relatively new person to the blogging world I was delighted to get an invite to the event. Unfortunately I couldn’t make the original launch night, so was very pleased when I was allowed to defer my invitation to the following week. Even though I was going to be back in the throws of crazy school hours again, I snapped the opportunity up with both hands! Shears Yard has been newly housed in the building which once was the home of seafood restaurant Livebait, on Wharf Street in the Calls. The ethos of the new kitchen is to d
Shears Yard is loved by most of the Leeds food circle. If not all. Well no, not all. Please don't send the masses to lynch me. I just feel that maybe I'm missing something? I suppose the best way to start this post is to begin like I always do...
It’s hard to find a really good Sunday lunch sometimes when you are looking at new towns and cites. My grandson found this little gem for us to go out for a little meal when we visited him at his uni digs. And wow it did not fail to please. We had a starter of seared smoked salmon and then a beef or pork Sunday lunch each and they were delicious. The staff were just amazing also. The star of the day the bread and butter well we had never tasted such superb bread with butter. Its most certainly baked on prem and what a baker who makes it. You could live off it and i have added it to my to ten list of favourite foods now. I cant recall the exact details but it was black garlic with grape and a few other ingredients between the butter and bread i felt like Oliver and wanted to shout please sir could i have some more.
Cocktails were great, the bread was fresh, the oysters delicious and the roast was a great hangover cure. My favourite was the terrine though. Really good service and a relaxed atmosphere
We were gifted a voucher for a tasting menu with drinks and visited Shears Yard this week. After a warm welcome, the menu and drinks were explained to us. Courses arrived in a leisurely manner. Each course - bread, soup, starter, fish, main, pudding - was delicious. Each course had innovative additions and flavour combinations that worked brilliantly. Each course was generously portioned (in comparison to other tasting menus we have had) and very well presented. We had a great meal in very pleasant surroundings.
Situated in an interesting and stylish building, shears yard is a quint place for posh English Sunday roast. It is a bit expensive but it is a treat to be away from the busy atmosphere of Leeds.
I was so busy eating and enjoying my food I forgot to take pics - that is an excellent sign!
We had the tasting menu which was excellent value at £60 each. I substituted two of the fish dishes with vegetarian options and they were both astounding. Delicious from start to finish!
I shot a wedding here early this year: The staff were incredibly friendly and really helpful. The space itself is really light and airy and suited a wedding layout really well. The food was some of the best I have tasted. They make a mean cocktail too.
As a wedding photgapher, there is a great deal of stuff to shoot really close the venue too, so its an ideal venue for any couple.
Thanks for having me!
Excellent food, served in a timely manner by pleasant, friendly and unobtrusive staff in a very busy restaurant - It was difficult to find somewhere in Leeds that wasn’t serving Sunday lunch but we both thought our food was delicious, well presented and sufficient. A little bit more expensive than usual but not extortionate in any way, and the quality of the food shone through.
All staff were welcoming and not interfering, the atmosphere and music was just right and the menu choice was interesting with top quality ingredients. They made drink recommendations and let us sample before choosing. Will definitely return and have already recommended to many friends.
Highly recommended for Sunday lunch. Starters lacked enough option or lure to order so just had mains. Wine was good value, would visit again happily
Booked for Sunday lunch. Hands down the best Sunday lunch in Leeds. How do they even get carrots to taste like that?!
The atmosphere was great, amazing service by all the staff.
We even had dessert & the chocolate & stout cake was to die for. 10000% will be back very soon to sample the other menus.
Where to start.
We had the taster menu that was on offer amd all I can say was its the best meal I have eaten out anywhere.
The music made it a chilled out place to be and the staff were amazing.
If you're in Leeds this place is a must and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
The staff are friendly and the food was lovely. Can't ask for much more :)
Superb in every respect.
Eating out in the current climate has become a bit of a lottery. Service has been poor , food poor in many of the places we have eaten. Shears Yard was brilliant , the service was great , the taste was excellent, everything was right. We will be back again , no question, and would reccomend it to anyone.
We had a beautiful meal here. Food is top quality very nice as a treat or for a special occasion. Sunday roast is really lovely too.
Visited Shears for the first time. What a treat. As this is a restaurant I’ll start with the food. In a word very nicely presented absolutely delicious tasty beautifully cooked. With surprisingly generous portions making our seasonal set meal actually really good value. We had Oyster Chicken parfait and Salmon and Dill starter, followed by Sea Bass and Pork Belly with green veg and smashed kimchi spuds. Pudding was Pear and Meringue.
2 beers to drink lovely Czech varieties.
Service was friendly well informed and well timed.
All in a really lovely experience thx to my daughters for giving us a voucher for here.
30% off in January. This did cause a bit of confusion as initially I was advised we couldn’t use the voucher and get 30% off but once I’d explained the voucher was a full price gift voucher rather than something like a cut price wowcher or Groupon reduction one the 30% reduction was included in full.
Looking forward to going again probably after a menu change to try a different gastronomic delight. Thank you.
