Love this little place. Friendly staff. Didn't have to book. Food was gorgeous had belly pork starter... melted in your mouth. And main was very good. Would definitely recommend this place. Price good to.

Went to the Bear on Saturday night, the food was out of this world! Starter platter was fabulous, what a good idea! Mains were tremendous, I had the belly pork, V had the Black Bream, some of the best food I have ever eaten, tried the Bream, what can I say! The flavour were wonderful! How does this boy do it, I know I'm biased but he knows his craft, must go again and soon J

Genuinely the best meal ever. This is my fourth visit and it's exceeded the last, incredible food, incredible portions, lovely atmosphere and really happy positive and helpful staff, my favourite restaurant in Leeds- if your thinking of going, stop thinking and just go (the lamb shank was mouthwatering) ❤👌🏻

My husband and I love this place. We come here as a little treat about once a month. Our last time was Saturday night for himself ' s birthday. The food is always outstanding but the chef(s) excelled on Saturday - it was the best yet! Thank you HB xxx

Exceeded expectations in every way. Beautiful food, great service and a fine choice for Kim's birthday meal with the in-laws. We will return.

My second visit and was impressed once more. Great menu where they will basically make whatever you want within guidelines! Brilliant service and the kids were well fed 😊 Thank you and we will see you again!

We have been meaning to come for about a million years having supped their ale extensively at Meanwood fun day. Came in for afternoon drinks as East was infested with kids (and we had none today) and Alfred had strange people knitting. I get the Impression that Hungry Bear is out to Get It Right and they do. Friendly table (sofa) service, some complimentary nibbles and £22 damage for a cocktail, a pint and a 750ml sharing IPA is less than we've spent on lesser quality suppage. Nice selection of 30s tunes,60s , trip hop and chill. Will be back for food for sure. How have we been so slack to not get there so far?

So many yummy noises

Love this place, have been going ever since it opened but hadn’t been in a while. Recently had the best meal we’d had so far. Both had the steak and it was perfectly cooked. The cabbage it comes with is insanely good. Shared an excellent chocolatey dessert. Home brewed beers to go with it were delicious. Om nom nom. Perfect.

Great Sunday lunch, Yorkshire puddings were fresh, good texture. The pub/restaurant is unassuming. The amuse bouche was this spicy creamy tomato soup. The porchetta was phenomenal. The french toast was the right size following the substantial roast. Nice pint also. Get yourself there.

We've been supporting local restaurants during lockdown by ordering takeaways but have to say every one has been a bit of a disappointment until today. The hungry bear has given us truly amazing high quality restaurant food in the comfort of our own home. Still looking forward to visiting as soon as we can but this has totally made our family celebration. All diets catered for including an awkward gluten free vegetarian, and more food than even my 6ft+ teenage sons could eat which is almost unheard of! Great value for money. Thank you so much!!

Last minute phone call for Sunday dinner fully booked but can eat in pub round corner called The Terminus and we will bring it too you, go on then we'll give it a go and we were so happy we did. Pub is small but welcoming with lots of real ale on tap, pint bought sit and wait, sure enough half an hour or so in walks the chef with our dinners and boy was it great, £15 seems to be the benchmark for quality Sunday dinners these days and we have tried several in and around Leeds over the years and this place just joined the very best of them, quality food of which we enjoyed every mouthful, cheers 😊

The Hungry Bear was the place for lunch we visited with surprising good food. The only limitation was that it has only a small menu to choose. We ordered the Rainbow Trout and the Vegan Pitta. The food were simply delicious (see photos). I cannot express how good they were but we could always imagine :-)

Our second visit here didn't disappoint. Lovely meal and drinks. The cocktails were a highlight along with the rasberry macha tea cheesecake.

Some of the most impressive food we've eaten. Even the soup was exceptional. Absolute must go when visiting Leeds, wish there was somewhere closer to London!
