I love this place. ❤ When i finished the barista school, i decided i'll taste some flat white in Leeds. I was so curious... This is the 1st place where I got real flat white. Without sugar is the best. Honestly my favourite is espresso, so next time I drink only espresso in my place.
It takes a lot of things to make a fantastic coffee shop. Laynes has tied up all of them in a tasteful, boutique hideaway with not only exquisite coffee, but excellent service, a great soundtrack and masterful Baristas. Truly the finest coffee shop I've been to in a long time, and more than worth a visit if you care about good coffee.
Wow! What an incredible place. Family friendly. Very good for value. Definitely a new regular place for us

Checked out the reviews on this place before we tried and it certainly lived up to its rating, was very busy so had to sit downstairs. Service was first class, lovely food and coffee. Looking forward to my next visit to Leeds and breakfast at Laynes Espresso
Superb coffee and amazing food. The chef explained each dish and was very passionate about how and where they source their produce!
10/10!
Wonderful atmosphere, great staff and really warming environment to sit and take a breath. Happily would come here again and again
Excellent food , poached eggs, bacon, on toast, cooked to perfection. Friendly staff X
Lovely food, clean premises and friendly staff, so good that I intend to return again for breakfast today. X
The nicest poached eggs and toast I've ever had lovely set up and hipster kinda cafe
Mushroom and spinach was so nice and really recommended as a little extra for your eggs 🍳
If your looking for great tasting coffee done properly, then look no further Laynes is the place to be. Neatly run Expresso Bar located in a prime location, and owned by the legend that is Dave. Yh will be back!
Had a wonderful meal and a really good, well extracted, nicely balanced Guatemalan through V60 yesterday. Good stuff.
our usual stop coming out of railway station always good both food and coffee, one of very few places i have never been disappointed with what i ordered.
Without a doubt the best place to get coffee in Leeds city centre. Coffee is not a necessity to them it's an art, an art that is perfected and delivered with care and incredible attention to detail. They also offer barista training and latte art classes... As well as cake and lunch from local suppliers of course.

Being in serious need of a good coffee and breakfast this morning I decided to visit Laynes, as I had already read great things about it.
I had a latte, which tasted great and the avocado on sourdough which was amazing! The chilli and lemon seasoning on the avocado gave off great flavour and the perfect level of spicy while the toasted bread complimented the soft avocado brilliantly.
On top of that, the atmosphere of the coffee house was great, the staff were friendly and helpful and had smiles on their faces which is always great to start your day with.
Overall great place to go and definitely one of those places where you can take a good book or notebook and relax for a few hours.
Being a tourist from Aus I was looking for a decent coffee and something a bit lighter than the traditional English breakfast fare that most cafes do. This was a much better option, great coffee and had the avocado on toast which was excellent.
Considering I didn't get a chance to actually hang out at the cafe, I definitely can't say too much (even though it looks incredible and a great place to spend a morning / afternoon), but I had asked a local colleague 'Where can I find the best cup of coffee in Leeds?'. Without hesitation, he told me to look no further than Laynes - and I'm glad I didn't!
Just a very simple yet tasty Long Black that was so good I wish I had a chance to eat there as well. Will most definitely be back my next time in Leeds.
Work had arranged a team meeting at the Leeds office so just like anyone else, I googled the best coffee shops in Leeds. After creating a shortlist, Laynes Espresso came out top, mainly because of its close proximity to the train station and its location being en route to the office without having to take a detour.
Currently there are some road works going on outside but don’t let that put you off from trying this place.
The gloominess of the morning was mirrored by the greeting by someone who didn’t seem like they were having the best of days but regardless they seated me to a table and also directed me to the toilets which I had to use from excessively hydrating myself on the two hour train journey.
I went in with the thought of ordering a croissant or the sort, from what seemed to be a freshly baked selection, however I saw some eggs on toast on the menu. The waitress, who served me, was slightly a happier one and she advised it will only take 5 minutes to make to serve my time constrained agenda. I gave in and ordered that along with my usual flat white.
The order did arrive pretty quickly, unlike my train, and the food itself was quite nice. Personally I could do with a bit more flavour in the eggs but maybe I should have used my initiative and dashed some more pepper on them. Nevertheless due to my urgency to get to the meeting, I just swallowed them at pace and tried to savour the taste.
The flat white was really good and the barista avoided any frothiness that some amateurs are guilty of. My palate took well to the flavours of the beans and the correct texture of the caffeinated drink.
A post meeting pit stop was thwarted by their early 3pm closing time but despite this minor setback, I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy a proper cup of coffee and/or with a side of an array of brunch dishes.
Fun little shop. Proper espresso drinks, quality (yet pricey) baked goods, and great service. A great first stop upon stepping off the train.
Easily my favourite veggie brekkie in the city! Make sure you book, as these guys are super popular and fill up quickly, but it’s well worth making the effort to. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is insane. Coffee is always 10/10. Perfect, cozy little atmosphere for a weekend brunch. Thanks guys! ☕️
After carving for a proper English breakfast for quite some time,on a visit to Leeds ,I picked this place to satisfy my taste. I do not regret it,even more, I totally recommend it. I wish I would have had more time in order to come for the other options of breakfast from the menu. I had their signature Breakfast and it was a blast. Delicious, tasty, and the portions were more than enough.
We did not have a reservation but the chap at the counter fixed us somehow. We had a smoke and waited for a few minutes and after that we were sitting at the window enjoying a dreamy flat white while waiting for our breakfast. Big up guys, looking forward to my next visit .
Lovely brunch spot in town! Slight wait to be seated because it's such a popular spot! I chose the Turkish Eggs which was delicious! Thanks
Beautiful café close to Leeds Train station with gorgeous coffee, food and incredible service. During busy periods there is obviously a wait but it is absolutely worth it. Iced latté and Leeds Bun were superb. My friend said their Sourdough toast with poached eggs with a side of salmon was delicious. If I ever return to Leeds I will definitely be coming back
What a place. I ended up in Leeds twice last week and visited here both times; I was led here originally by the good reviews!
The food is amazing and well priced. The staff are lovely and accommodating. The coffee is delicious, there is loads of seating and there were lots of people eating alone which lets me know the atmosphere is comforting! Highly recommend!
Great staff very chilled out considering it a very busy cafe. The best coffee in Leeds all food very fresh and reasonably priced
Good quality food and coffee. It gets pretty busy so definitely make a reservation before turning up. Expect to wait around a bit for tables if you've not booked- but this is expected because it's a pretty busy place
The coffee is nice, the batch brews are often really tasty but if you're a customer on your own and you just want coffee they'll stick you downstairs even if there are tables free upstairs! Made me feel a bit second class... I'll get their coffee again but probably take out next time.
I really recommend this place if your visiting Leeds. Make sure you book a table upstairs before you go as it does get busy.
I was seated downstairs in the basement which didn’t have any natural light and it did get a bit hot but nothing uncomfortable.
Their menu was really well thought out and I was surprised to see gluten free options. Please see my menu pics.
I ordered the Turkish eggs, it did take longer then expected but it was an absolute delight the eggs were cooked perfectly and the portioning was spot on. The coffee was really nice. The baristas latte art was next to nothing great attention to detail.
I would 100% go again and I would definitely try the gluten free pancakes.
We popped in for a Sunday morning breakfast without booking. We were told there would be a 30-minute wait but we got seated much quicker. There was a bit of a wait for our meal but we didn't mind. The staff were friendly & attentive and the food was great. Espresso a bit on the bitter side, probably underextracted.

Both the coffee and food here are incredibly good. I had more than a cup of coffee and tried the apple crumble danish with custard & the baked ham and hash. Both were so delicious that I just sat there feeling incredibly happy. The staff were really professional and friendly too.
Laynes Espresso in Leeds is an iconic spot known for its exceptional coffee ☕️ With its cozy atmosphere and seasoned staff, it's the perfect place to unwind.
Just be sure to book your table in advance, as it tends to get busy
