The height of excellence!
Visited mumtaz for the first time and what an experience, the interior design is of a very high class, felt like we was in a seven star hotel, now the food was excellent, a great experience, lamb chops my favourite couldn't get fresher the main course was out of this world everybody needs to eat here for excellence in food and service my family really enjoyed the moment wow.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff, specially Mr Talha look after us.I recently visited with my and my friends family the staff were very accommodating with our needs, the service was amazing. The food was amazing and some of the best I had.Lovely venue highly recommended.
The lamb leg ordered in with rice and their special sauce ...completely divine. Service from the Mumtaz management is always on par as well. Great scenery looking over the riverbank.
Beautiful restaurant. Manager very welcoming. All staff apart from the waiter who dealt with our initial complaint was useless. Coming from a customer service background in the same trade I wasn't happy with the reply of 'nobody else has complained' unfortunately isn't good enough. Eventually one of the waitresses informed a chef who in turn informed the manager who dealt with. Either offered us another dish or wiped of our bill. We accepted the latter. Beside that little incident the overall experience from waiters to the gentleman at the bar were excellent. Not to mention the food which was exceptional.
I've been a couple of times and it really made an impression as I particularly wanted to return when I happened to be staying in Leeds with my family. The atmosphere is lovely with live piano music, spectacular views over the canal and large high ceilings and chandeliers. The service is a little chaotic with someone offering us drinks and as they leave the table someone else approaching us from another angle to offer us more drinks. The food is very good and the drinks (all non alcoholic) offer a fair amount of variety but don't assume the lack of alcohol will reduce your bill! Soft drinks are five pound each. Pickles , poppadoms, and everything is charged separately. Children's meals are seven pounds each. Main meals are served without any accompaniments so everything has to be bought separately. Two course meal for two adults and one course for my two children produced a whopping £80 bill! It was a lovely meal but I wouldn't expect a bill that big outside of a Michelin star restaurant.
I'd heard about this place first from an Arab friend who thought it was great. Didn't pay too much attention thinking now if a Desi tells me this I might take heed. I was later taken there by family who live in England and have to say, I was taken aback.
Firstly the decor is so majestic and tastefully put together. Love the color scheme and beautiful chandeliers. Very soothing for the eyes with plenty of sunshine coming through their large windows which have a grand view of the dock, with boats lining their tiny Marina.
Now here starts the food, we felt like eating traditional delicacies and were a bit disappointed to learn the ' Masala Brains' had sold out. Anyhow we went onto to order Paya (Lamb Totters) and the King Prawn Karahi along with their garlic buttered Naan.
Now let's hang on our last experience at a Desi night out had us over ordering food and we made it clear from the start let's order simple, it's lunch time and try out the real traditional stuff so we can truly get the feel of good cooking.
The king Prawn Karahi was finger licking good. Right amount of masala, a real tasty bite. Prawns not over cooked as they do tend to get a bit chewy if overdone.
Their Paya (trotters) was just amazing, right amount of masala and not too watery gravy. The trotters weren't over cooked so they weren't falling off the bone either many places get it wrong by simply this.
This time we had opted to steer clear of cheese and stuffed Naans. If you want to enjoy traditional fare and get a real taste of the curry and not the taste of bread over powering the curry then you need to go for either a plain Naan or a garlicky buttered one like we did. Nice and soft, very tasty and a decent size for one.
How can you leave without dessert, well I had heard so much about their Ras Malai but gave it a miss as simply by now the other items had filled me up. I did try a serving of Pistachio Kulfi though kidding myself into thinking its lighter than the others until it arrived in a tall glass served with a humongous dollop of fresh cream sprayed down the side of the glass. Nifty idea I thought to catch the drips, when I picked up my kulfi on a stick.
Our server was British with origins from Calcutta, sorry we didn't ask his name but he was grea, very polite and happily made some good suggestions. He even came back to offer us some more water after we had paid our bill. Usually in most places no one bothers once the financial transaction is over.
To sum it all, Beautiful place + Beautiful Food ❤️ Can't wait to be back!
Flawless food - i had in the Clarence Dock .
Starting from the Kebabs - both the Fish Tandoor and the Chicken ones . The Dal Tadka - yellow lentils was very well cooked too , the Biriyani was exceptionally good - correct amount of saffron and spices used .
To complete a full meal - the desserts were awesome - the chocolate mud pie .
This place is amazing but busy based in Leeds it was well worth the visit. We did have to wait to be seated but it was worth it. There is plenty of room and the atmosphere is great.
Highlight : It's ambiance!
The food and service were good.
I would recommend trying the Lamb dishes & Mango Lassi.
I really enjoyed my Iftar experience at Mumtaz. The dates and soup etc. were a really thoughtful touch for Muslim customers. The mixed grill was nice but I particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and garlic naan. The service was really organised around Iftar time and I was really impressed.
Great food. Amazing taste. The place looks amazing aswell. Had a family meal here and they all loved the place and food.
Staff are amazing aswell.
Plenty of parking space here. And right next to boats that are docked making a great view.
Alittle pricey though.
Just had a lovely meal at Mumtaz, there were 12 of us and the waiter was fantastic. M.Ali served us all evening with a welcome smile and could not do enough for us.
Went for Eid celebration.
Was seen to quickly, but floor service was poor, I had to wait for my drinks to come after I had my starter and was beginning my main course.
The quality of food was good but price was not really worth it.
They definitely got it right as the restaurant is more for social media photos rather than food.
Visited here again last night for pre mother’s day dinner with few ladies from church to celebrate Mother’s Day,
Waited for 15 to 20mins to get seated
The food is absolutely amazing
Ambience is beautiful – Highly recommend!
Fantastic decor, really tastefully done. Its fun, fresh and interesting. Fab location on the docks.
Loved the selfie booths & bike etc, loads of good photo opportunities.
The food is just as impressive. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful - genuinely seem like they want you to have a great experience.
Would definitely recommend for a good all round experience 👍
A very different experience to the small dimly-lit restaurants I'd usually frequent but the bright lighting and brash decor doesn't detract from the excellent service and really good food.
Given every table was full and the whole place had a real buzz about it's clear they're doing something right even if none of the many photo friendly props was being used during our visit.
I'd usually run a mile from anywhere that professes to be "The Selfe Restaurant" but thankfully it wasn't packed with self-obsessed photographers but just many people enjoying great meals.
It's odd to not have alcohol but the constantly refreshed water made for a really nice change.
Go for the decor, it's really something else, and marvel at the size of the place (with a perfume shop!) but above all try the food, it's very good.
While in the UK do visit this place if you are looking for some east Asia food. Taste is 5/5. Service is quick and responsive staff. Yes I have one feedback for service. We had a booking at 5:30 but we had to wait for 20mins to get the reserved table. I think it should be ready before the customer has arrived. Mango smoothie was awsm and yummy.
Imran provided us with 5* service. He made our experience exceptional at Mumtaz.
I've been told many a time to visit Mumtaz in Leeds but New Years Eve was my First Experience and BOY did I enjoy it!
The atmosphere in there is Amazing, the Decor outstanding and they even have mini Photo Booths for those who like taking Photos...
The Food was Divine. I would recommend the Mixed Platter Starter for sure.
We ordered the Grand Thaal which was enough for 6 of us, everything was spot on, the food, service levels, happy to report the tables were spotless as were the toilets, the restaurant was 60% full when we went, they should open one in London, will visit again when I'm in Leeds
We ordered lamb tava, chaat, naan and pina colada. Lamb tava serving was generous for 2-3 people. Taste was good.
The pina colada tasted mediocre... I thought it will have chunky fruit but nope. Pina colada was 9£ something- I don’t recommend. Over all, nice view and decent food.
The mix grill starters were average. The poppadoms and their sauces were amazing.
Got two (large) naans and two curries between a couple. This was more than enough and took about half of it home. Wish the waiter was more accurate on the serving size of the curries as one curry dish and one naan would've been enough for two after having a mixed grill starter with poppadoms.
The steamy mocktail was amazing but slightly overpriced.
Nice areas to take photos too.
