Haven't been here for ages and suggested it as a venue to meet some friends. It didn't disappoint the meals were delicious and generous portions. Our waiter a young man whose name I forgot to ask was very good indeed. Will certainly go back. Just found out our waiter was Kieran very good at his job so Thank you again

The Bun is our local, we eat here on a regular basis, the staff are always friendly and the food is always lovely. Both my husband and I have celebrated two big birthdays at the pub and the arrangements for both have been stress free and have gone smoothly from start to finish. My 40th yesterday was held in the new Victoria Room, on a hot summers day it was airy, spacious and with the added benefit of its own gated garden. Guests had Pimms aplenty and enjoyed a beautifully prepared buffet. Helen is a credit to the pub trade, any stress I felt was dissolved by her experience at managing such events and her constant presence throughout the evening. Thank you Helen, chef and staff for a fantastic evening xxx

My lady and I popped in for an evening meal and was impressed. As chefs ourselves we were particularly impressed with the quality of the food and service. Smiley helpful staff despite being busy and quality drinks. Slightly higher cost for food and drinks here but the staff, surroundings and food quality mean we will definitely return. Enjoyed it.

My friend and I came here for lunch yesterday while her husband looked after our 2 daughters. We had the most lovely Sunday lunch and creme brulee. The wine was also very gratefully received. From the moment we walked in the bar man was friendly and chatty. The lady who served us was also lovely and made conversation with us and made us feel like we were regulars even though I have never been and my friend hasn't been for a long time. I don't know the names of the staff but the barman was a tall guy with a beard and the lady was blonde and an ex wren. I can't rate this place highly enough and we will certainly be back with the family in the very near future. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable x

Had a lovely meal here for a friends birthday. All of our group had different meals and we were all more than happy with the food, all staff were friendly and the pub has a warm & welcoming atmosphere. I look forward to returning to try something else from the menu.

What a lovely pub. Have visited for food which has been excellent and for drinks, either on my own or with friend. Great menu and wide selection of my favourite lagers. Very friendly staff and even when busy like the festive period they had time for a smile and a few words

They squeezed us in on a very busy Saturday. The food was delicious and the service was lovely. The duck was one of the best we've ever had. Will be back if ever we are in the area!

Visited for lunch and drinks. The service was great - my partner is coeliac, and the team were really knowledgeable, and checked the full menu for allergens, described the kitchen and measures they took to avoid cross contamination, and have a separate fryer. Nothing was too much trouble, and she had her first meal of fish and chips in a very long time! Dog friendly, with bowls and biscuits too.

First time at the bun penny, recommend so thought we’d give it a go and what a surprise, both had mixed grill and crème brûlée for pud. The mixed grill was delicious although huge portions everything on the plate was well cooked and had lots of taste, crème brûlée was slightly over done which wasn’t an issue but the raspberry sorbet was to die for very refreshing and cleansed the palate. Would we go back definitely would we recommend definitely

The food here is the best and the most reasonably priced I've had in ages. It's now my go to for good food. I only have 2 requirements when I pay someone else to feed me. I expect it to be as good but preferably better than I would do it. And this place does it way better than I could . Bye bye Harvester, no more chances Old ship, forget you expensive steak places. Bun Penny clearly actually employs a chef .

The Bun Penny is not far from Lee on the Solent seafront. Large pub/restaurant with plenty of seating inside and out. Off road parking available. Gets busy especially in the evenings and summer months, so best to book. Friendly and welcoming staff, decor is bright and airy. Good choice of reasonably priced food. Never had a bad meal here. Definitely worth a visit.

High quality food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and the treacle tart for pudding was splendid. I'd be very happy to go again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful; the difficulty is what to have, the food is amazing, and the choices on the menu are all local produce, very tasty. The service was faultless from the moment we arrived, everyone was helpful and attentive and we were not rushed. There is plenty of parking, and the ambience was fantastic.

Excellent service, very pleasant and accommodating to our clearly not sleepy grandchild! Food good, just more gravy needed for the pie and green veg could be added to the seasonal veg selection. Carrots, onions and parsnips were the selection given in early July, which whilst tasty, would have benefitted greatly from something like asparagus, green beans or broccoli.

Really nice old pub (former coaching inn). Staff were welcoming and attentive. Food was nicely prepared and cooked. We made use of the BOGOF offer (Mondays). Would highly recommend.

For the price, roast not so good, very small amount of meat and potatoes not properly roasted. Other meals were excellent.

An exceptionally busy evening put staff under pressure but meals were promptly brought to the table by attentive staff. Just a shame the floor manager's brusque attitude spoiled our enjoyment
