Started with breakfast Sunday morning. Delicious dairy free porridge with nuts and fruit. We were very impressed with the service, staff very helpful. We decided to book for Sunday lunch and try their grass fed beef . This proved to be the right decision. Fantastic meal with good choice of beers. Despite being very busy the staff were very attentive, we felt we were being treated like celebrities. Although we live approx 170 miles away I am sure we will go back there. Thanks to everyone there , what a great team.
Really good food and service - and a great place to have a party. The food was excellent, and the staff attentive when needed. Would definitely go again.
Great food everytime, recommend the superfood salad and rubarb & custard cheesecake service is always exceptional. staff are always friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit 🖒
My fave place for a Sunday roast, hubs fave for steak 😋
One of the best meals I've had in a while, good selection of beers and other drinks (although helen thought that a grapefruit gin at £9.50 was a bit steep) staff were very good and attentive
Will definitely be going there again
For those how in the area it's a couple of minutes walk from the main shopping street towards the fie station
A lovely place and really nice staff giving great service. I'll definitely be going back.
Another lovely meal, great food, excellent friendly service would highly recommend 😄👍
Great food and friendly service .... recommended wine choice excellent highly recommend a visit!
Nice warm welcome staff go the extra mile to please and have good knowledge of the menu, food was very good, looking forward to my next visit.
Had an amazing meal here tonight celebrating my two sister in laws birthday... the food was excellent... the place is stunning.... the staff was fantastic.. an amazing evening.. thank you so much x
Went here for lunch today. It's a great place - an unexpected find just out of the centre of Leamington. It was very busy and had a good atmosphere. The food was really great .. very enjoyable experience !
This is an excellent pub/restaurant. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the range of beers and spirits is excellent, with all the drinks well presented and conditioned.
With regards to the post below about a doggy bag: Yes, they should have given you a bowl, and maybe a spoon, and perhaps sent one of the staff home with you to put it into your gob.
Great food and great service. Would definitely recommend!
Good location; the place is very welcoming and the food is good. The atmosphère is very warm and the place it is good to hear a portuguese people in the typical english pub. :) To recommended for good time with friends.
Our first visit to The Star and Garter was born from necessity. We were thirty miles from home on a miserable Sunday afternoon, hungry, and with a newly acquired wine rack taking over the back two-thirds of the car . Its on these occasions that comfort is called for. Long roasted meats with burnished veg and crisp potatoes are the needs of the day. We choose the pub because it has good form; we use their sister pub, The Highfield, as our local go to stop when such needs occur closer to home. There the plate is prettily stacked with carbs, protein, and topped with a fist sized Yorkshire pudding. There are greens to share in a bowl and replacement spuds and Yorkshire puddings are offered. Sundays at The Highfield have never let us down, meaning expectations at The Star and Garter are high.
The Sunday Roast was delicious and very generous portions. When the staff check back on you, they offer you more yorkies and roast potatoes! The service was great! We were greeted immune by Eve, and she served us, got us drinks asap. Also, they're dog friendly. Highly recommend it for an amazing and chill Sunday.
We are big fans of the Peach Pubs group having previously eaten a few times at both The Town House and The One Elm, often on special occasions, as was this one. We did feel that The Star and Garter did not quite match up to their sister pubs in terms of the personal service. Although we had said it was a big birthday celebration, with our children gathering from across the country, there was no acknowledgement of that at all, even when cards and gifts were exchanged. Perhaps this was just because it was a busy Saturday, which also meant that food came a little slowly (even allowing for the fresh cooking).
Having said that, the menu was interesting and varied, including options for the vegan guest, and the food chosen was very tasty and much enjoyed by all 6 of us. There was a real buzz about the place creating a good atmosphere and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Lovely pub for a sunday roast.
My family really enjoyed the Lamb pavé.
The stuffing was delicious.
Extra point for the possibility to have more Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes! Very nice touch.
I was a bit disappointed with the shallots tatin , the pastry could have been more cooked/crispy.
The truffle and macaroni cheese was delicious but such a small portion.
Overall, a good meal. I will be back to try more on the menu 😉
Very pleasant evening with ex-work colleagues.
Great food and service.
Perfect Sunday roast here today! The service was impeccable. Great meat and veggie option - food was delicious! Love that you get a jug of gravy and extra yorkies/spuds. The wine and the apple crumble were also exceptional.
Plenty of seating outside with partitioning around from pavement.
Outside service no problem !! with people round regularly checking on you .
Also outside heaters.
Not to busy.
Went back last night (April 2023) not been in for ages . Still very popular a lot of people taking their dogs in with them making a warm welcoming environment for groups to meet up
Nice welcome, excellent knowledgeable and quick service. Great selection. Love how they bring the 'specials board' to your table.
Lovely food.
Overall a really nice friendly place, with great food, drinks and service.
Great staff and a very good Sunday roast. Good menu. Efficient and very friendly service. Highly recommended!
This is one of my locals. I often meet people there for lunch and I've even eaten there by myself when I Just Can't Be Bothered to cook. Staff always welcoming. Food good. Lovely place.
Loved this place!
Went here for a Sunday lunch and it was brilliant. Really tasty comfort food at a decent price. The Sunday roast was great and the black pudding scotch egg (pictured) was a thing of beauty! 🤤
All the staff were really friendly despite running around as it was so busy.
Would definitely recommend to others.
Service was very good, staff were polite and fast! The food was very nice and not too badly priced! Good selection of drinks on tap and they pour a decent Guinness.
This is an absolutely beautiful place, the service is second to none. 4 of us ate and to say there wasn't a crumb left is being silly but so true. You gotta try the cauliflower chips, they are to due for 😁😁😁 From the moment you walk in this place, you are greeted like a local whose place has his/her name on it all the time. The ales kept perfectly and poured by a master. The girl taking the orders, never used a pad, phenomenal service. I will definitely be calling back here
My wife & I called in tonight as I’ve always fancied it & we were in the town. The staff were lovely, and the food was lovely too. Very spacious seating area & nice toilets. Will most definitely call in again.
Great pub for food. Has a great cozy feel.
I have been going here for food and drink for about 5 years on and off and it is consistently good. They have a nice open bar dining area with a large kitchen window.
The menu is English pub food/gastro pub. Lots of classics, burgers, fish and chips, steaks. Something for everyone. I would especially recommend going on a Sunday for their roast.
Staff are always friendly and the selection of beers and wines are good.
They also have a roof terrace on the second floor at the front which is amazing in the summer. You get to see the world go by.
Clientele is truly mixed. All ages and young families too. There is no sky sports which I think is a massive plus. It’s also not the sort of place where people linger drinking at the bar either. Against I like that.
Highly recommend, probably one of my favourite pubs in Leamington Spa.
A table of 5 (colleagues) went on a Wednesday evening. Food was amazing. We had belly pork, chicken schnitzel and burger. Food amazing although pricey.
Service was spot on. A large glass of wine £12.50 which I think is way too expensive!
We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday party at the Star and Garter and couldn't have been happier. They set up a long table for us in the back of the restaurant to fit our group of 20. There was plenty of space, the food was great and everyone had a fabulous time. Special shout out to the fantastic team who looked after us so well. They were professional, courteous and attentive throughout the whole evening. I'd definitely recommend this place for special occasions.
Lovely friendly place, great service. Some dishes were perfect but the vegetable Wellingtons were very overcooked, the Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were also overcooked. Shame had always heard great things about the Sunday lunches.
Dog friendly, superb Sunday lunch. As well as the Sunday Roasts, we had the anchovies with gremolata as a starter which was delicious and one of the small desserts: a smidgen of Finn, a wonderful British cheese with a tea.
