I was lucky enough to win a nights stay with three course meal for two by liking and sharing this page. We stayed Saturday night in a lovely room which overlooked the square. All staff were really welcoming and very helpful. The meal was fantastic, and the bar had a really good atmosphere with live music. I will definitely be recommending The Angel to friends as a place to stay if visiting the area Thank you to all staff for a lovely evening.

An amazingly homely hotel with very friendly helpful staff, superb food with a Dickensian atmosphere in a famous square which was used as Godrics Hollow in the final Harry Potter films. I have visited here a lot and The Angel is the choice of the locals and no wonder, it serves the best coffee and serves great beer. It's well worth pre-ordering the mature steak they offer, the chefs here are top quality and its my favourite place to unwind. I was only sad i couldnt have Xmas lunch here as it got so fully booked by the locals early on!

Saturday lunch spot with friends and family. Super friendly and efficient staff. There were 7 of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. I ordered something I thought was GF and the kitchen picked up on it straight away and the waitress made a good suggestion for an alternative. Healthy portion sizes served with a smile made for happy diners. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.

A little gem, in a stunning Medieval Village. Set in a quiet market square. Away from the mainstream traffic through the village. Well kept, and maintained. Friendly, and super helpful staff. Excellent food. Accommodation very clean and comfortable.

We stayed one night (5 Dec 23) and couldn't believe our luck by having selected The Angel. Reviews are about opinions, and not everyone agrees with them. However, we were accompanied by our dog, and all of us were welcomed by John, the owner. Preliminaries over, we were shown to our room, and as you might expect in Lavenham, there was a wealth of charm and character throughout (and characters, too, including 'F & F' (an in-joke. Stay, and let John explain)). The room was simply furnished, and the only criticism could be the extremely slow flow of the water in the bathroom - but who really cares? The bed was spotlessly laundered and exceptionally comfortable, and there were the usual courtesy provisions. Although we had arranged to meet family and dine elsewhere in the evening, the breakfast was simply superb. Excellent quality products, presented beautifully and clearly cooked by a chef who cares. We had a Full English (a rare treat), and smoked salmon with scrambled egg, and a large cafetiere of rich dark coffee. All of the staff throughout our visit were attentive, accommodating, and charming, and the team collectively deserve to be praised. We highly recommend The Angel Hotel, especially to anyone preferring a more gentle and personal style of hotel. We certainly aim to stay there again next time we are in the area.

Great Inn to stay at, free parking in the public car park next to the pub. Great food and great beer. Room was typical of a centuries old Inn and was well turned out.

I have eaten here regularly for the past few years. The food is always excellent. The service is very hit and miss. Don’t like the compulsory 12.5% service charge. Would be happy to pay if the service was better. The landlord keeps excellent real ale, always in good condition. They have recently changed the furniture in the bar and restaurant area. It was too bulky, and was like an obstacle course trying to get through the restaurant. We were seated just in front of the door to the kitchen. I had to move the angle of the table, otherwise it would have been impossible for the staff to get past. The older furniture that they had previously, suited the age and style of the building far better.

A decent and well priced Sunday roast. Many a competitor is over-priced and over-cooked. We dropped in on the off chance for a bite with no booking and got in fine with four of us. Friendly staff and dog friendly to. Bar and restaurant separate just enough and there is a nice beer garden also for when the sun shines The occasional meal deal makes this a good choice when visiting Lavenham for sure too.

Hadn't planned to eat in Lavenham, on our way home from Ipswich, but found this gem of a restaurant. Had a lovely meal, although a little less salt would have made it perfect.

Lovely stay with fantastic staff. Dee welcomed us on arrival and had prepared and arranged everything we had asked for. Dinner was delicious and nothing was too much trouble for Imogen, our waitress. There is a 12.5% service charge but we were happy to pay this for the service we received throughout our stay.

I can honestly say that the Christmas Party Menu exceeded all expectations, the food was exceptional as was the presentation. The Service and ambiance was also great. Rosa.

A lovely 4 night stay. Our Room (1), was beautiful, but beware it's a bit of walking up and down, but that adds to the quirkiness and reflects the 600 year old history . We ate breakfast daily, and an evening meal twice. There was a little confusion over whether the price included breakfast cold buffet. Some staff said, yes, others no! All meals were superb and beautifully presented. Ranging from pie night, the best I've had in decades, to a very tender fillet steak with pate and pastry. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My wife and I didn't stay but we had a really lovely evening meal at the Angel Hotel. I used to work at a catering school... suffice to say that I couldn't fault what was served or how it was presented. Absolutely lovely lamb shank. Hot, warmed plates, lovely red wine sauce, freshly cooked vegetables. Excellent portion size. Service was pleasant and attentive. We shall be back to stop over for a few nights soon... so looking forward to it.

Cosy Hotel in the heart of Lavenham. My partner and I stayed at this hotel whilst attending a wedding nearby. The hotel itself is located on a square with free parking. The pub drinks were reasonably priced. However I thought the breakfast was pricy, £17 for a full English. Which is more expensive than London prices. The room was very spacious - we were in room 8. The bedroom had a smart tv and king size bed. The bathroom was quite small. My partner had issues using the shower as the bathroom ceiling was quite low and he is tall. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid £120 per night (weekend)

We went into The Angel Hotel for lunch only and was very happy with the atmosphere friendliness of the staff. We enjoyed good food and service. The prices were reasonable and the food was enjoyable. The level of cleanliness was good, including the toilets.
