Nice greeting as we walked in with our dog one of the staff showed us to our table and promptly gave us a plate of biscuits and a bowl of water for Ronnie dog. Food was delicious. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend a visit here I don't think it would disappoint. Good quality food freshly cooked. Made for a really enjoyable visit.
We have just had a beef roast and wow it was amazing the beef was like a piece of perfectly cooked steak then followed by sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and salted caramel sauce which I would of licked the bowl if i could. I would highly recommend this pub for excellent food and friendly service
Impromptu drive to Lavenham and decided to have a late lunch... WOW what a lovely place. I had haddock and my son had the burger, both were exceptional and very flavoursome. Service was excellent. 5* well deserved
We had an amazing roast beef diner yesterday! Staff couldn't do enough for us & they were very busy with others in the restaurant. Didn't have to wait long for our food & it was lovely & hot when served...very reasonably priced!
We've eaten here a few times now on our own, sometimes with friends & have always had a lovely meal!
Definitely to be recommended.
Best gluten free burger and chips I’ve had in a long time! Highly recommend

Very quiet but excellent burgers , would recommend. Burger and chips were piping hot and full of flavour. Much improved from the awful Thai green curry I had a couple of years ago when I said I'd never step foot in there again.
Probably the best value pub with a great menu in the village. Fantastic food except the onion bhajis need to be cooked for much longer. Fantastic staff.
Good food - all done fresh to order.
Was in for lunch on a Monday and it was decently filled with 14/16 people enjoying lunch.
doesn't look too great from the outside but please ignore that and go in, it does really just need a good clean & tidy .
dog friendly also was lovely to see with various treats and beverages to boot..
We stayed for one night in Lavenham we noticed the pub earlier on in the day and decided to have a wander up. This pub is extremely dog friendly, there offer a dog menu and the 2 ladies that served us gave our dog a lot of fuss and attention. We have already decided that we will back. The food was also amazing. Such a lovely place to with or without.
First visit on the spur of the moment and very pleased. Great food, cracking beer - Sharps Atlantic Pale Ale, very good staff and even a great playlist for the background music! 🎶
Definitely not our last visit.
Invited friends to join us for a meal, 1st time and we all left totally satisfied. Staff made us feel welcome from start to finish and as for food, well it was absolutely delicious and we look forward to returning
Fantastic pub that delivers
Keep it up and we look forward to our next visit
We parked in the free car park next door and visited the town before returning for lunch here.
They had everything we wanted- a specific beer, hot meals and sandwiches. They even serve afternoon tea (pre-order).
We were served quickly, both in taking our order and serving it even though they were quite busy. The hot food was hot and delicious. The cold food was delicious too.
There was general pop music playing in the background.
There is a separate bar area, beer garden and front patio area.
This pub benefits from being dog friendly too, they even have dog food and treats to buy.
We will certainly visit Lavenham and this pub again.
Excellent light snack - had the chicken and bacon club sandwich.
Service was brisk and the staff were polite. Exactly what I needed as I was in a rush, lunch on the go as I was about to photograph a wedding across the road!
Can't wait to return and try the roast in a more relaxed state 😀
*Update* Just had another meal with friends there. Food, service and price all excellent! See pics plus amazing church opposite! Car parking also excellent right next door to pub!
Lavenham is a must see place. Pub was friendly and prices good
Recommended by the Daily Telegraph as the place to eat in Lavenham. A traditional looking place from the outside, but inside it's had a designer makeover. Some will like it, others not. Service was pleasant, food was good. Big carpark next door. The village and the church are well worth wandering around.
A truly excellent pub, dog friendly - allowed in the bar and lounge but not the restaurant. Recently refurbished and very swanky, we were the first to arrive on a Monday lunch, but it quickly filled up, and that is always a good sign. Peas soup was lovely, as was the roasted onion sandwich, wish we could have stayed for a bigger meal, but just passing through. The car park at the side is the council run honesty pay scheme, great to explore Lavenham from and then come back to the Cock Horse for a bit of sustenance. The two hot chocolates we had were a little on the tepid side, not what you'd want on cold February Monday, but this was the only gripe, otherwise a place to recommend to all. A little bit pricey, but worth it!
As a gluten and dairy free diner I often have difficulty finding something suitable that I like on a menu. I had a few options for my main course, very limited for starters and dessert. As we ate at about 5pm the place was practically empty, we were sitting inside, most people sat outside. The quality of food and portion size was excellent. My son had all three courses and thoroughly enjoyed them! Service was good and not intrusive. Would recommend.
Excellent food and service, have been here many times and food is always very good and fairly priced with good selection on the menu.
Large restaurant at the far end of town opposite the church. Food and prices are good. Shame about the state of the tables though - apparently used in the week for arts classes. All the tables are like it so no point moving tables. Think about what the tables are actually meant for, like eating on? Shame really as the waitress was nice and the food good. Just get the tables sorted and it would be a great place.
Nice location at the entrance of the town,
quick service at the afternoon and the food was a good standard.
