This is a great place for lunch and to pick up a few special treats. We love the choice and the roasts are always top quality - you can tell the best meats are used. Our little boy loves the fisherman's platter and ploughman's and never leaves any on the plate. My only regret is we often eat too much to fit in a cake or pudding, but it doesn't stop us trying! The roast turkey dinners were great in December. We'll keep coming back. Looking forward to taking the extended family in the New Year.

Fabulous place, can't recommend it highly enough, cottages maintained to a high quality and the staff in the gift shop/cafe couldn't be helpful enough

A special place indeed! First visit yesterday and will definitely be back. Friendly, polite staff, really nice menu with good variety and not 'run of the mill' dishes. Food served quickly with a smile....lovely, quality ingredients. Nice shop, too!!

Booked in for the Grill last night. Food was fantastic and plenty of it. I had the veggie option, it was really tasty. Will be a monthly outing now!

Set nearly in the middle of nowhere - but just off the A90. Great coffee - including triple shot! (stay awake for days after). Light and full meals - and really nice cakes. Also fantastic gifts and food & drink to buy and take away.

What a great find! We were on the way back from Aberdeen when we passed a sign for a farm shop and cafe. After traveling down a long farm road, we were pleasantly surprised to find a *beautiful* shop and cafe. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the food: outstanding! A great selection that's difficult to choose from as everything sounds so good and honestly tastes even better than it sounds 😋 Our food was so good, we went to the shop to buy some pies, sausage rolls and banana bread for home! Can't wait to be passing again as this is a "must stop here" kind of place!

Finally visited, having passed the sign on numerous occasions and observed that we really should stop one day, and it did not disappoint. Just a short distance off the A90, so quite convenient, the drive down is a little rough, but not problematic. The building is lovely and it is really welcoming as were the staff. We sat at the really large table in the main body of the building with other customers and really liked it, there was a really nice comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. There were two other seating areas downstairs and some more seating upstairs, which we didn't see. The menu had a good choice with something to suit most people. The food was well presented, fresh, hot and delicious and we were all very happy and enjoyed our lunch. It is a little bit pricey, but I don't feel it was bad value. Look forward to visiting again.

We were desperate for a break from driving on the A90 and saw a road sign for this place. From our exit it was quite a drive but returning to the freeway it was much shorter. It appears to be a new building with lots of room with a deli, small bar room, several dining rooms and a gift shop with jams, tea towels and artwork. The open dining room was upstairs. Tables were nicely spaced. We had one of two cheese plate (Meat deli platter) and tea. The platter had roast beef, ham, two cheeses, scotch and sausage tools. It was nicely presented, fresh and truly delicious, Service was very friendly and relaxed. Good place to stop if you are in the area.

Great place. Food tastes and homemade unlike other joints with bought in rubbish. Great coffee. Good service and a nice bolted on farm shop with cheeses, wines, beer etc. The overall site is great too.

Farm dining at the best. We were having our holiday in Fettercairn and a friend recommended Balmakewan Farm Shop and Tea Room. It’s a beautifully built Farm Shop and Restaurant. Beautiful interiors and the staff was super friendly. Even though the food choices was limited, the food was fresh and delicious. We had Haddock and Pea Pasta, Burgers and Shakes.. Truly a hidden gem and will go back again..

Had a good lunch, smart place. It is not well signposted if travelling south and we almost missed the turn off. It is a few minutes down a narrow road off the main road going south. This place seems new, has a shop, outside seating, only a few inside tables.

Venison is the specialty of the house, and roast venison has no smell. The seafood is fresh and inexpensive. The waiter's attitude is very good. Breakfast is from 10 to 12 and lunch starts at 12. You can park your car, and you can see their own deer right next to the restaurant. Very nice place, recommended to drive there.

Picked up some coffee here on the way to our holiday home, along with some freshly made salad items and pastries. Coffee was great and the food was well priced and clearly home made. Very tasty! Lovely building too with a nice bit to sit out the back.

Lovely quiet place to have lunch. Food is always excellent, service is polite and well run. Never had a bad meal, certainly the best eatery in Aberdeenshire

Visited this out of the way site and the food was excellent. Had the meat platter and everything was lovely. I found it slightly overpriced, which was my reason for no 5 star review. Would happily return without rushing back. Loved the deer herds in the adjacent fields! Staff were friendly but were told they were glad we were leaving because they needed the table!
