Visited this cafe recently and was glad I found it. Although it's tucked down an alley way it's definitely worth finding. A great range of vegetarian/vegan food and at reasonable prices. service was very quick even when the cafe was full. food was delicious. It's worth checking out the shop downstairs too...

I've travelled from preston a couple of times to eat here and it's never disappointed. The food is amazing, the staff are lovely and the cakes are to die for. My favourite place to eat.

Six of us came for a small birthday lunch today and loved every second of it. The food was fresh, delicious and very well priced. I had the falafel & tzatziki with pitta and it was gorgeous :) most of my friends had the salad platter which went down really well, though another had the bean burger which she really liked. The wine was lovely and really reasonably priced too :) we sat outside in the walled area and was the ideal seating place for such a lovely day. I'll definitely be back! Thank you! :)

We had a cooked breakfast - one vegan, one veggie - I loved the smoked tofu! Good size portions, quick, friendly service. Went back in the afternoon for cake - less choice of vegan as they were close to closing but 3 choices is still pretty good! Will come again and recommend (the salads looked amazing)

We popped into the café today for lunch for the first time with our children. Very busy (good sign), absolutely outstanding food and just a lovely atmosphere. Then visited the shop downstairs. Could not recommend it more highly!

I popped in yesterday after a friend recommended this place. I couldn't stop so asked if I could take out which they said yes to. It was around 12.30 the place was filling up fast. I ordered the falafels which came with salad and pitta. It was absolutely delicious and the turned my order around really quick as my parking time was running out. This place looks great and I'll be visiting again when I have so much more time on my hands 😊

I popped in for an event here just before Christmas, I had a large pram with me and two other children. On finding the event was upstairs I consulted staff who were incredibly helpful and pleasant. Service was excellent and food/beverages delicious. Will be back and would definitely recommend.

Been a regular customer for years ever since I discovered this hidden gem! And it is consistently fabulous service and incredible food! Sian, Tom and all the friendly staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The Whaletail definitely make my transition to Veganism an incredibly easy thing to do. But whatever your dietary requirements you will leave a satisfied customer!

We visited early on a Saturday morning, so the atmosphere was, understandably, a little flat. However, the vegan full English breakfast was gorgeous! It even came with vegan black pudding, which was a 1st for us. Strangely, the toast came way before the meal and was cold, but that was it for any negatives. The space is set out with more formal eating tables but around the edges are sofas for more relaxed just drinks areas. To find the entrance is a little challenging as it is hidden from the main street. You also need to climb some stairs to get to it. But it is very much worth it.

It's a very serene place and the garden area is dog friendly so if you are a pet owner you can visit this cafe with your pet. The food is really good and served warm. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. They also help with any allergies, just let the staff know.

Very nice place. We wanted a fry up breakfast after a wedding the night before.. Stumbled across this without knowing it was a vegetarian cafe. We ordered 2 of the full breakfasts (still slightly unsure if it was meat-free... nothing indicated it on the menus but we put 2+2 together). Breakfasts were served hot and tasty with very good coffee to pair. The sausages were especially great. Service was good, friendly staff and nice music. All in all, 5* - will be back next time we're in Lancaster.

We had our second visit to this delightful little gem of a cafe today. On both visits it was very pleasant and friendly service. The food came quickly and as before was consistently delicious. Always bustling which is lovely to see, I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat. On a more personal note, due to dietary preferences it is comforting to know the menu is entirely available for myself and my partner. Best Veggie/Vegan spot in Lancaster easily and my new favourite cafe! P.s we had the specials: Smoky cheeze lasagne and a Vegan Bacon Quiche Lorraine

We first visited the whaletail over twenty years ago, when there was very limited options for veggies. The whaletail was definitely a family favourite as our boys were growing up and now they have fled the nest, we are back to being twosome. In all this time the whaletail has gone from strength to strength in terms of decor and food. Fantastic veggie cafe and definitely worth popping off the M6 for a great veggie treat.

Had a really nice brunch here. Husband had a full breakfast and I had garlic mushrooms with tomato and avocado and a turmeric latte. All delicious. And got a cake to take away which I'm enjoying now. Would definitely come again, thank you!
