First visit yesterday (2/8/18) for a joint birthday celebration. Lovely relaxed place, top quality,excellent food (dessert was to die for!!), fabulous range of Gin's, excellent waitress service.What more could you ask for?! Would recommend, and we'll definitely be visiting again!
Absolutely love The Butcher and Tonic! Amazing place to go get quality meals, great Gins with all staff so knowledgeable about what they are serving. A refreshing change! Great management, great staff! Totally recommend to anyone who fancies treating themselves!
Fantastic meal here last night. Food was cooked to perfection, steak was amazing and my friends loved their food too, trio of lamb and duck breast. Great atmosphere and awesome staff. Special thanks to Olly who looked after us from start to finish. Highly recommended this place!
A friend recommended this place to me and my partner saying they do the best steak around here, so with me loving steak I chose to have one and although it's more than what I would normally pay, it was definitely worth the price and it was definitely the best steak I have ever tasted. When our family come to visit, we have said we will bring them here!
Three if us visited on Boxing D's at evening to have a break from the indoor festivities. We had a great meal and don't hesitate to recommend this place for a meal
Excellent choices of gins at a reasonable price . Food was good especially the dessert can highly recommend the carrot cake best I’ve tasted . Very attentive staff and a buzzing atmosphere what more do you want for Thursday night .
Had a fabulous evening at The Butcher & Tonic last night.
Three of us had sirloin steak and one had duck. All were beautifully cooked and presented; the veg was great - perfectly cooked with some bite; the sauces all very flavoursome.
My steak looked, smelled, and tasted superb. Don't remember ever having one better. They come from a local family-run farm, so very few food miles too.
The service was great - very friendly. Lovely ambience.
Will definitely be going again.

Brill place to eat on a cheeky schoolnight. 3 courses and 3 gins for 25 quid or steak and a bottle of wine for 20 quid you can't go wrong. We go for the latter & have ribeye with a side and a sauce. Rob and his team are fab, historic venue, lovely atmosphere and great food and drink. Big thumbs up from us!
Had a lovely meal for my birthday and even enjoyed my first gin. The staff are so lovely and friendly. Would defo recommend and will be back.
My friends treated me to an afternoon tea/baby shower party here today and it was beautiful. Lovely service and delicious food. The cakes were to die for! Will definitely be returning in the future

We have eaten here several times and can not fault the quality of food and customer service. The chicken kebab and kebab sauce is a must.
Wow! Lamb chump - gosh, lovely. Perfection. Husband chose cod gratin off the specials - again - flavours perfectly blended. He also managed to squeeze in a pudding of treacle tart - another plate of perfect flavours. The beers were locally produced. Fantastic venue, great host. Amazing calm lunch for us - bet this place rocks at weekends!
We had an exceptional meal here on Thursday - fine dining quality in a historic old Masonic lodge but at reasonable prices and with friendly service.
Every course had stand-out elements and the menu gave lots of options from vegan to meat and fish - all beautifully presented and tasty.
Starters were very nice and just the right size. Mains were very good and the dessert was fantastic. Staff were attentive but not pestering, service was pretty quick but not rushed.
A really lovely place, a hidden gem in Lancaster, food was devine one of the best afternoon tea's I've had if not the best. The staff were lovely and really friendly made us feel really welcome. They were very knowledgeable about the gins and were happy to help us decide which to have as we couldn't decide, There was so many different ones to choose from 😊 at a good price 2, we will definitely return and most definitely recommend.
Went for Sunday lunch with friends and had the roast. Came quickly and was really tasty, well cooked and presented. Tom behind the bar was really friendly, helpful and had a great knowledge of gin.

As always the food was delicious and plenty of it. I'd really recommend the steak night, a steak meal and a bottle of wine each for just £20 each. You'll get one of the warmest from ,possibly one of the friendliest people in Lancaster, Ollie. Absolutely love this place !!

We went for our anniversary meal and it was excellent. The food was lovely and the service was great. We had the '3 courses and 3 gins' deal. Our server recommended some very nice gins to go with each course. We couldn't fault anything. I would highly recommend to friends and family.

We visited for a mid-week evening meal out and ate off the set menu - 3 courses and 3 gins for £25 per person. Great value and tasty food. We both had the steak and really enjoyed it. They had a couple of big parties in so they offered to seat us around the corner where it was a bit quieter which was perfect for us. The staff were really friendly too!
We had an evening meal on Saturday 25th May, after booking through their website. I have to follow a dairy and gluten free diet and the staff were amazingly helpful, but without causing a fuss. It is one of only a few places where I have been able to choose from several dishes on the main menu. The food and service was fantastic. It is a really lovely building and had a great atmosphere. We will definitely be going again and have already recommended to friends.
A fantastic meal, portion size of the steaks were huge but every part of it was delicious, definitely reccomend the steaks! All staff members were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, we went quite late on at night and didn't feel rushed to leave at any point. Definitely will be returning, couldn't fault it whatsoever.
Went here for the Christmas menu on a very wet Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious and great value at £25 for 3 courses. My steak was cooked to perfection, they adapted the menu to accommodate my allergies and created a new sauce for my steak and a new dessert. The staff made us feel at home and were very attentive. I cannot find a single fault with the whole experience.
The variety of drinks on tap and stellar steaks were a highlight, but we were also impressed by the variety of vegetarian food on offer. The staff were extremely attentive, coming to check on us regularly, offering good knowledge of the menu and drinks and providing recommendations that did not disappoint. We had absolutely no complaints and would love to revisit!
Came for lunch with two friends. What a brilliant place. Tender steak Diane sandwich, homemade cauliflower soup and a soft drink for £5. This was really lovely and the best lunch I've had in ages. I'll definitely recommend it here. Great gastropub.
Absolutely wonderful afternoon tea.
As soon as we walked in we where welcomed and shown to the table we chose. Drinks were offered while we waited for our meal. After a few minutes our table was filled with so much wonderful food. soup for starters , followed by succulent steak and mushrooms in a tasty sauce on crusty brown bread, pastry rolls filled with beef, minted lamb, we didn’t know which to eat first. Then followed by scones and cakes with a serving of fresh cream. Best afternoon tea I have ever eaten. It wasn’t our first visit and definitely won’t be our last. Well done to the bar staff and the chef. ( minted lamb rolls where to die for.)

Been here for the second time, and I must say it's got better. The food is stunning asked the staff what they recommend and they weren't wrong. I have NEVER had a steak so good as in this place. Highly recommended for meat lovers.
If you like Gin you will love the all round experience of here.
