This was a terrific place to stop, eat, drink and explore! I had two friends with me, one of whom is Australian and had never visited Lacock before. Due to a misinterpretation of the menu, she ordered a meal which, when it arrived, despite being delicious, she didn't like. When the waiter came to clear the plates, he was worried there was something wrong with the meal and when being assured that no, it was just a different meal to what she had thought, and she was willing to pay for it, he refused to accept that and took it off the bill, no arguments or protests. All of the waiting staff were friendly, charming and polite, my "small" plate of fish and chips (yummy) was more than large enough, and there was no problem when my friends went off exploring, while I (slightly less able) stayed in the shade. I commend this pub/hotel fully to anyone visiting Lacock.

Excellent food! I had the most outstanding mushroom risotto. My partner had pork loin. Both highly yummy. Did not actually stay at the inn. But can highly recommend the pub for food and a pint or two.

Great food, dog friendly, excellent staff - thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday lunchtime visit. One of our group is on a gluten free diet and the menu was fantastic. Couldn't fault it at all.

We always have a lovely time at The George. My family and I visited on Saturday evening and enjoyed the three course Christmas celebration menu. The entire evening was superb - great food, great service and a great atmosphere!

We visited early evening on Saturday 11th November, with a group of 15 adults to have a double birthday celebration, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was excellent and service great. I would recommend a visit without hesitation. A big thank you to all

Haven't been to this pub for years. We were greeted by staff and quickly ushered to an empty table. Staff were very diligent and professional. Orders for drinks were taken quickly, and the 6X beer is a great recommendation; typical of this area. Food is the typical pub offerings but was excellent. I prefer a simple, no-nonsense menu of traditional food and this pub delivered. We had fish and chips. Gammon egg and chips and baked potato. All were fresh, hot and cooked well. We visited on Saturday, and it was ,as expected, quite busy but not unreasonable. Lovely old pub and well worth a diversion to the end of Lacock.

Visited the George Inn as we had noticed the sign as this being the oldest in the village. A coach load of people had just entered however we found a seat as the inn is a lot bigger on the inside. Very old interior and pleasant bar staff. There is also an outside sitting area at the back along with a car park. Entrance at the side of the pub. There was a few photos of William Fox Talbot which links to Lacock Abbey. Not the cheapest of pubs so only stayed for one drink but the prices are pretty much the same at the second pub in the village.

I actually opted to eat at their sister hotel so I didn't try the food here but I did stay overnight. The staff were very helpful and informative, a smile or two wouldn't hurt though, and the young man who talked me through everything spoke very fast so I couldn't take it all in. The room was great, very modern and quite big and the shower was fantastic. I'd definitely stay overnight again.

What a great stop on our tour. They were absolutely mobbed but handled the crowd. The town is incredible.

Food came out fast, looked good and tasted good and we were a large group! Although we did order ahead. Fish and Chips seemed to be their specialty.

Brilliant old pub dating from 1361, in a village that is often used for film and TV sets. Not so much visited by tourists, as it is at one end of the street and round a corner. They don't know what they are missing! Good selection of beer and food. Friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside, and a small courtyard seating area. Don't miss the almost unique Dogs pit still in it's original setting.

Went here as part of a tour that I had booked. The meal I selected was fish and chips and it was to a great standard. Drinks were reasonably priced. Very cool old feel which comes with the history of town. Great feel and vibe. Very happy to have got to see and experience dinner/lunch here.

After a lovely walk round the fields with our dog and a stroll round the beautiful village of Lacock, we were quite hungry. We wanted a Sunday roast and The George was a good place to go. Lovely roast with the best yorkie puds I’ve ever had. What I really liked you had the choice of a small or large portion. The staff were all really friendly and attentive. We were also able to take our little dog in with us. Such an atmospheric 14th century pub with all it’s original beams. I tried to imagine all the people that had visited there over the centuries. With the little dog turning the wheel for the meat to cook. The wheel is on display in the pub. If you want somewhere to step back in time and have a good meal and some of the best Wadworth ales this is the perfect place. Lovely houses around there selling jams and all sorts of homemade goodies. Parking. It has it’s own carpark.

Get ready to go into a time machine and head back to medieval times. This place and the whole town is straight out of a movie. Which makes sense because a lot of shows set in this time period are filmed here like “Bridgerton, Downtown Abbey and much more”. There were also some scenes of Harry Potter shot here. The food was delicious, I had the steak pie and a definitely recommend it. I had an Old Mout Cider Berries & Cherries to drink. So good, so so good!

On our way to Bath, our group stopped at this lovely place for lunch. The beef pie and fish and chips were delicious and cooked to perfection. Service was efficient and staff were very attentive. Charming place to visit if you are ever in the area.

A little chilly but outer door was closed when requested. It’s a difficult time of year monitoring warmth inside however. Service good, good excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely pub. Would welcome some info be made available on such an old pub.
