I've eaten here a few times and the food is good, but it's let down by the small sides accompanying the main meal. The veg was dry and looked like it had been reheated in a microwave. The pork belly and pie was very nice, but you need more veg and mash. The veg needs to be fresher considering you're paying close to £20 for a main.
Attended with a large birthday party of 20 people. Service was excellent, considering how many of us there were. I wish I’d ordered the lamb which looked amazing, because my rotisserie chicken was a bit dried out, nothing special - they did provide gravy so I drowned my chook in that. We had pavlova for pudding it was honestly the best pudding I’ve had in a pub, ever. Pub decor is amazing, not the usual pub decor, it’s lavish, luxurious, but it’s trendily dimly lit so be warned if you have sight problems. We had a party member who is disabled and uses crutches and she managed just fine in there. But we had plenty of room, we weren’t crammed in. Toilets great, clean and luxurious.
Stayed here for two nights, rooms were clean, bathroom was also clean and the shower was hot.
All staff very friendly and helpful, bartender made a mean Old Fashioned and was a good dude.
Food was really good, as was the dining area and the beer garden overlooking the canal.
I would stay here again.
I've come here many times and the service is excellent! The staff are all very warm, welcoming and prompt. Gail has been our waitress recently and she remembered that I was finishing uni from our last visit months ago and wished me luck which was a lovely surprise! The drinks are great (I recommend the raspberry mojito), the breakfasts are as well. The atmosphere is very welcoming but also still classy. Will definitely come back!
We stayed over on Thursday evening on our way home from a holiday. The room was a bit small but very nicely decorated, and comfortable. Although anyone of a larger build would struggle with the shower room. The shower room itself was brand new and very clean though.
We ate in the restaurant, and the staff were very helpful, and the meal were very nice.
Breakfast the on the Friday morning was excellent. And the lady who served us was really helpful and friendly.
Overall a very nice stay in a lovely location by the canal which was really nice for a walk after travelling all day.
Lovely afternoon spent canalside ,in the sun. Booking was easy on line. The menu looks great. Service was good. When outside can take a little while for them to bring cutlery etc. The food was delicious.
Went here in a whim Tuesday 17 October. Hadn’t booked … 12.30 …. Risky. It was busy but Dom found us a table for two. We loved the choice of starters and mains … there seemed more than enough choice. We had the set 2 course lunch. The food was really good and portion sizes fair. Initially a slightly slow start to get served but we were in no rush. Our waitress Gail attentive and cheerful … spot on. The waiter for drinks was also good … he too had a smile on his face and despite being quite busy had a quick chat to us. We enjoyed it so much that we are returning on Sunday for lunch with two other family members. Hope it is as good.
Fantastic venue, and a really cosy atmosphere. The Pork Belly was phenomenal! Really enjoyed the Hot Drink and Mini Pudding after.
Amazing Pub restaurant with rooms just outside beautiful Knowle village on a pretty canal with outdoor canalside seating too. Beautiful modern but cosy traditional decor, lovely staff, great friendly welcome, so nice, lovely bedrooms, hypnos beds, spotlessly clean, cosy, nice food and wine just 15 minutes from NEC - I am choosy but this was really suberb!!! Faultless pleasant stay. Great attention to detail, nice menu too. Very rare find well done great value for money too
I cannot say enough about this venue, the venue is set on a beautiful rural canal side location and the building has recent undergone a huge revamp, it’s very posh and quirky! The Guiness is one of the best pints I’ve had. The first night I had the chicken burger which was really tender, then the following evening I had the 10oz steak which was cooked to absolute perfection so the knife just glided through it like butter and was the perfect pink for a medium rare steak. The full English breakfast in the morning was absolutely spot on too. The staff are very polite, friendly and attentive to the customers, and the best thing is it’s one of the most dog friendly pub/restaurants I’ve been.
The hotel upstairs is absolutely beautiful and immaculate, the beds and everything are brand new and one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in ages, I didn’t hear a sound all night. It’s most definitely one of the best places I’ve been for a pint. When you consider the location, food and the fantastic service, it’s very well priced! I’ll definitely be coming back for a pint, highly recommend! Oh and did I say it’s really dog friendly!!
Amazing food, great service, very cosy atmosphere!
This was our first visit here. Lovely outdoor seating, and very peaceful. We ordered the fillet steak, which was the same cost as a well known steak house restaurant so we were a little worried of what we may receive.
We also ordered a few sides, broccoli and prawns and mac and cheese.
We were served in the beautiful outside area and when the fillet steaks arrived we were not disappointed. Perfectly cooked and amazing beef dripping gravey.
Thank you finally, for a pub who knows how to cook a great steak and serve it well.
Very friendly service. We will definitely return x
Lovely relaxed pub restaurant. Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I booked a lunch for 13 old friends to have a reunion. They looked after us really well.
Some of the best pub food around, excellent quality and taste, the risotto with scallops are truly outstanding. Can't wait to go back
Lovely food. Service great, but a bit slow.
We visited here for a meal on Saturday at 5:30pm, having prebooked a few days in advance. Welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant area, lights were dimly lit and decor was lovely, it really created an intimate atmosphere. We ordered our chosen dishes only to be told 4 or 5 of them were off the night! Not the first time we have heard this from our friends. It's not particularly surprising as the menu is huge, maybe too big to be sustainable? Having said that, the food that we did get was really tasty and the service was very good.
I visited with my wife, sister and her husband.
I hope the images convey the wonderful atmosphere we felt upon entering the restaurant.
The staff have an air of calmness and treated my wife with patience and and understanding not often found in some establishments. The entire staff we came into contact with were wonderful. The service was not rushed.
The food was excellent and I can thoroughly recommend the menu.
Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.
Excellent location rooms are very nice and clean staff very nice and polite.out of 4 meals two sent back I asked to not return mine so only had a starter. All food very late coming out . My steak was very over cooked . I think I had a pile of potatoes but looked like a burnt onion bargi. This was sorted by a free pudding and a round of drinks
Recently came here for a meal with my mum after the long awaited refurbishment, we have been here before and the food has had a massive upgrade compared to before. The atmosphere was great and made a difference to hear some good music in the background it feels a lot more prestige now with the fancy decor in contrast to before where it was just a usual pub. Marie who was our waitress, checked with us that we had any allergies and was able to cater to my needs when I stated my allergies, she was really helpful and nice with our visit. We’re going to definitely be coming back for another meal and of course some more drinks in the near future.
