Great stay - lovely room , very comfortable bed, great fresh-cooked breakfast cooked to your specifications.
The pub is popular and lively without being rowdy and The Timothy Taylor's Landlord was kept to perfection.
Will be staying there again.

Great live music outside. We found it by accident brilliant girl duo. Enjoyed them that much we going back December 15th to see them again even though we are from Hartlepool. Lovely atmosphere too.
Stayed here for a couple of nights rooms were clean and tidy and a good size.
All of the staff were great and very dog friendly we were made to feel at home.
Right bang in the middle of the town great location.
Would definitely stay again.

My partner and I called in on the off chance and the staff managed to get us a table, the Sunday carvery was the best I’ve had in a long time and the staff are 100% efficient and friendly, we will definitely be back if I’m the area, well done Old Royal Oak 👌🏻
Had a lovely stay, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, friendly staff, great atmosphere in the pub and the breakfast was scrumptious!
Great value for money. Will definitely be booking to stay again soon.
Great for a short break. Good hospitality, good beer, great breakfast. Lovely town centre setting, close to castle and River Nidd gorge.
Went for Sunday cavery .
It was excellent nice and hot with plenty of choice .
The staff were brilliant.
We will definitely be going again .
Just had the most delicious lunch at The Royal Oak. It certainly lives up to its amazing reviews. Tender meats (four to choose from) , fluffy, crispy Yorkshire puds, beautifully cooked vegetables. Ample portions (took some treats home for Molly dog). Lovely homely atmosphere in the spotlessly clean pub and eating area. Attentive friendly staff and the whole thing was run like clockwork. Can’t praise the chef and staff highly enough. Thank you 😊
Lovely clean room, great staff and very large breakfast
My partner and our friends stayed here for one night whilst visiting nearby and we were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and tidy with really friendly staff. We had a room on the ground floor (1) whilst friends were on the upper floor (5). The room was a decent size and with coffee/tea facilities plus two bottles of water, we couldn't fault it. Our friends were more than happy with their room as well. The bar was busy and friendly with locals on the evening and we even had a go on the karaoke as well. The breakfast in the morning was really nice and I think for the money it was definitely worth it. We would 100% recommend this place and would stay again. Great job guys 👏
We stayed here for 2 nights 14th Oct. The rooms were clean and comfortable if a bit basic. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic ,fresh hot and a proper mug of tea. We did park at the pub but are aware there is no parking most of the time. Would recommend
Visited on Sunday for a drink and the carvery smelt lovely! We decided to stay for lunch and we’re not disappointed.. choice of 4 meats and lots of fresh vegetables, mash and roast potatoes and very tasty gravy. Staff very friendly and always make us welcome with our little dog. Be back very soon.
We stayed overnight here, and I wasn’t expecting much with it being a pub B and B, but I was REALLY impressed. The rooms were clean and tidy, and looked recently refurbished. The couple who run the pub and B and B must be the hardest working people in Knaresborough- working in the pub till late and then up at the crack of dawn to sort out very tasty breakfasts! Really nice people. Only possible improvement would be provision for on site parking, but given its great central location you wouldn’t really expect that. Well done, very grateful!
My husband and I found this little gem and were greeted by Diane. Sunday carvery was amazing, huge portion and delicious. I would highly recommend and we will be back when In knaresbourgh. Thank you from Rachel &Sergio. X
Fantastic pub with very good entertainment
Staff friendly
Good Atmosphere
😜😁👍
We stayed at the Old Royal Oak for the 2022 Knaresborough Bed Race. From the moment we arrived (earlier than the advertised check in) to checking out we cannot fault our stay. The room was immaculate & very comfy. The rooms are separate from the pub & are very private & peaceful. Breakfast was amazing. Thank you guys. We will see you again soon x
This is the best pub in Knaresborough without a doubt. In a town where there isn't much for locals to do the outside karaoke is so much fun! The Diane mentioned in the previous review is a much loved member of staff and an assest to the local community including doing weekly volunteering supporting people in a local mental health group. At no point did she use any foul language over the microphone yesterday. Absolutely amazing staff, food, fun and atmosphere, you always feel at home at the oak.
